The more I got to thinking about the retro bloodline that we are getting, I just thought I needed the Wiseman for it. It's not perfect, but it's the best I could come up with with the figures available.  |

Interesting move to have Shawn in the audience looking at himself in the ring... Anyways, I'm more excited for this set than too many others they've done latley, mainly for Shawn and Alundra, but I think I'm waiting to see what sales they run on black friday weekend. I assume the newest set won't be on sale yet, but at least I could hopefully save on shipping and pick them up with something else I need. Still haven't gotten the Studd/Hogan set, fingers crossed they're on sale or BOGO by then. |

Sometimes when I do these retro head swaps, the head can sit a little too high or too low depending on the figure. I don't go through the trouble of modding the head any further, it's going to be close enough. |

Worst set yet and by far the worst retro style product out there. The talent used is aimed at collectors but they look like genuine kids toys rather than collectables. Was pumped when they were announced as coming back but I’ve skipped the last two sets now.

Yankem would have likely been made eventually if hasbro kept the license back in the day, but was anybody calling for this?
Bulldog with the short hair doesn’t really do it for me. It feels like they couldn’t come up with anybody else to put in the set. I would have rather they did a late 80s version.
Shawn is ok I guess. I like that he’s a puncher and it would have ruled if he had the white and red tights.
This is the least excited I’ve ever been for this line, but I’m really looking forward to the Hogan and Zeus set.

It's kinda exciting to me, but it's still pretty middle of the road as far as this line goes. At least it's the era I want, and a couple of good character choices, but not great execution. They mostly look cheap compared to Hasbros and most of the retros from the indy companies. Blayze, guess I can't complain about that one, it was needed, especially to go with Bull Nakano. Shawn, pretty good, alot of people wanted a 95 Shawn, but why does it have an old man Shawn head? Now I'm gonna have to track down another Shawn figure or head to fix it up. Yankem, eh, it's fine, means I can get rid of the custom I made, which I already sold off when this set was announced. Bulldog, again with that awful body, and Mitch is making like 5 versions of him including, so this Mattel would never make my display. |

Once in a while I have a hot take or an unpopular opinion but I’m a little surprised in how much I’m looking forward to the upcoming releases compared to others…and it seemed to be kind of the opposite with that WM1 set from earlier this year. Maybe it’s because that WM1 set exceeded my expectations? Either way, I’m looking forward to adding this set to my collection.

I’m looking forward to this set. Don’t think it’s necessarily a Top 10 wave over the span of the entire line, but it fits and is certainly well done. Like that this set is a little more colorful than some others have been. Look forward to doing some accessory swapping with Bulldog and throwing on the jacket from his greatest hits figure.
Now the NEXT set is something I am really looking forward to. Sherri and Liz are two top 10 wants.

What I'd really love to see are some the old school tag teams (that are mostly unsigned as far as I know) like Demolition, Road Warriors/Legion Of Doom, Nasty Boys, Killer Bees, Bushwackers, The Islanders, Powers Of Pain, Money Inc, Brain Busters, and of course The Steiners. I'd say at least one of them should come with the tag team belts. I also wouldn'tind another Hart Foundation maybe in blue like they did with their Battle Pack.

The demand is there...just not as much as other exclusives (like MOTU origins) on the Mattel site. We just have to keep buying at least one to keep the line going!
Even some of the other Mattel retro (DX, NW0) exclusives, I've waited on getting a second set as they will eventually drop in price...they are more then half off original price now. Just depends if you can hold out and risk the wait/demand.

I'm looking forward to this set; New Generation is the perfect time for me to see represented in the line so that probably helps my positivity.
I've written before about not being happy with the choice of look for Bulldog; he should be either face shorts Bulldog (maybe from the Rumble to match the Shawn) or Allied Powers to match the Lex Luger. Or if they insist on doing a short-hair Bulldog then long tights more in keeping to his time in Camp Cornette would allow them to save the trunks look for a Hart Foundation set that I desperately want to see but not with just a re-released Bulldog with a jacket. But this is my problem rather than theirs - there's nothing wrong with the figure unless you dislike the action (it's not my favourite either).
Shawn is a mixed-bag: obviously the puncher is great for obvious reasons, but the head is an odd choice. Personally I don't like his contrasting knee-pads look, but again that's my problem not theirs - it's a valid choice that he wore. I really wish they'd made a different choice with the head, but otherwise good.
Isaac Yankem is perfect - absolutely love it; same with Alundra Blayze. I'd like them to create another female body rather than endlessly use this one (especially for Miss Elizabeth, which it doesn't work for) but it's great for Alundra.
Given the standards they've set plus the cheapness of where the Retro line lives at then this set is a good addition in my view.

Why release sets of figures that already had hasbros as its seems like a waste - lod, nastys, bushwhackers, money inc, steiners? Plus several of these are already signed: Road warriors has an epic and zst set coming. Bees - epic Powers of pain- already had an epic release last Yr Brain busters - upcoming grapplers and gimmicks release I'm not saying ur wrong as that's what u want yo see but personally I'd much rather get figures that haven't been released yet than rehash ones that are out. |
