I know Im late to the game, but I just started collecting Retros ! This Mattel production break of Retros will give me a chance to catch up ! Two weeks ago I ordered 3 Retro figures on clearance on Walmart.ca for 6$ CAD / each ! Great way to start my collection ! Im detailing my journey of collecting these figures on Youtube. Check it out: - Van Awesome to see someone new starting to collect these guys, thanks for posting! I'm sure getting them cheap will help you save-up for when you have to get the Roman Reigns Retro Loved the intro with the classic music

Ok fantasy booking....
Mattel announces Retro Line is returning, and they are holding a contest, the winner is one of us on this board and the prize is that you get to pick the returning set of Retros.
Rules:
4 Figures. 2 Current/Active superstars, 2 Former/Legend Superstars
For the 2 former/legends they can only be wrestlers who have already been made or are being made in the main lines...so no Max Moon or Owen Hart or Shane Douglas, etc, but since we don't always know who they still have the rights to you could say Tugboat or Honky Tonk Man, etc.
Who do you have them make and in what attire?

For me...
since he hasnt "officially" retired and could still be considered current, I'd want a Big Show. in his Wrestlemania 32 look and Rey Mysterio, honestly doesnt matter the look but just current with the mohawk on his mask and a colorful attire (not black and red)
Legends I'd go with Edge in his Rated R white & black camo attire and Vader with his 1996 Summerslam era look
So
Big Show Rey Mysterio Edge Vader

#1:
Legends: Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase in a white suit/tuxedo, with the Million Dollar Belt. Macho King in purple/gold tights (not trunks), with crown and sceptor accessories. Current: Jeff Hardy with Face paint. Shirtless with white cut up sleeves. Ricochet - Blue/white pants, white boots, white kneepads.
#2:
Legends: Bret Hart, Black top, pink tights, pink sunglasses. Andre the Giant, black singlet. Current: The Fiend, black shirt and/or black jacket, red and black striped pants. Rey Mysterio, purple and yellow Summerslam 09 attire.
I would also include Chase figures for each. First one, chase would be MDM in a Green Suit/tux. Second one would be Andre in his blue singlet instead of black.

Oh man it's so tough to select guys for this line, I love the suggestions so far. Every time I do a fantasy series 11 line-up online then it ends-up being wildly different from the last one I did, there's so much ground to cover.
Assuming Mattel bring the line back to Walmart and Target and therefore are focusing on guys that will sell to the average guy/kid rather than making it an online-exclusive line focused on collectors, and assuming they don't have a bigger budget to work with, then I'd go with something like this:
1. Rey Mysterio - lots of choices: collectors will want a WCW attire preferably I think, the gold and silver pants from Elite series 5 might be a good compromise era, or the current mohawk look - it all works. I'll say the current look since this is a current guy, with the kicker action
2. Roman Reigns 2 - the series 1 figure with red detailing; I'd prefer a new guy but again if kids in Walmart are still the target market then a new Reigns would probably do better than Rusev, Cesaro, Hawkins or even The Miz
3. Hart Foundation Jim Neidhart - SummerSlam '90 attire, Ambrose action
4. Hart Foundation Bret Hart - SummerSlam '90 attire, clothesline action
I think both collectors and kids would be into all these guys - Rey obviously spans the ages, Reigns has become a Retros line legend and is one of the top guys today, Hart Foundation Anvil has been a major 'want' for collectors for decades, and Bret is obviously the best ever. Anvil is the only one who needs new parts, and the Hart Foundation would be the only ones that could maybe have accessories like sunglasses and Anvil's beret from that show, but those could easily be moulded-on or just ignored.
Another idea I had a little while back was to save the Hart Foundation for if Mattel did a special "Champions" series of Retro occasionally, for example the first such set could have Warrior in orange from Mania VI with the winged-eagle, Shawn Michaels with the Roman punch like the Hasbro prototype and the Survivor Series '92 attire with the IC title, and then the Harts from SummerSlam '90 with tag titles. In that scenario then I'd sub-in Eddie Guerrero and Edge to the above line-up as I think they'd sell better with kids than Lawler, Luger or Bulldog in shorts (three of my major wants). Alternatively they could just sub-in another team to the Champions set to have the tag titles, but they might not have so many options without the rights to Demolition, LOD, Steiners, Billy Gunn, etc., - Men on a Mission might be possible if they have the rights to Mo?

Hoo boy, that's a tough one. I think that I'll go with: MODERN: 01. The Miz 02. Rey Mysterio
CLASSIC: 03. "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff 04. King Harley Race

Cool idea. I think most of my top wants aren’t under contract, as they haven’t had elites or basics. So the choices I’d go with are: Legends: Vader - classic black with red v attire, with a new bigger guy mould but with the Brock/Rock action which can effectively perform the Vaderbomb, powerbomb and moonsault. King Harley Race - King attire with crown accessory, maybe cape too. Rock action, but again a new slightly thicker set torso and closed fist arms (but not reusing the oversized Braun arms). Current:: Roman Reigns - same as series 1 but different colour scheme. Give us in UK a chance to have him at reasonable price. Becky Lynch - (personally I think she’s MASSIVELY OVERRATED, and I’d prefer Charlotte, but I’m aware Becky seems to be popular). New mould obviously and a new uppercut action like the Ted DiBiase hasbro, to simulate her European uppercuts, maybe even with both arms so as to simulate her exploder suplex too. (This is mainly as if also like a female figure to use for customs of Sherri and Miss Elizabeth. ) And to possibly be switched in with any of the above: Vince McMahon - Full suit attire so another new mould, with microphone. Maybe same action as Elias.

Flashback Hart Foundation Bret and Anvil (Summerslam 89' all pink attire) Bret w/clothesline mech, and Anvil should be a bit larger build, maybe like the one new day guy who had the slam action.
Current Curt Hawkins (blue and orange like his recent Elite) Heath Slater (long tights, short hair)
Not sure on actions, just no jumpers or split torsos.

Good shout on Anvil - I completely forgot about the Big E figure, he’d be perfect. Good shout on the ‘89 gear as well, I hadn’t considered that. IIRC Hawkins has said that he likes the jumpers and would want his figure to have that action, so I guess if the line ever returns with a Hawkins figure then that might well be a jumper. Agree about resting the split-torsos, as much as I admit Shiek and JYD were good, I still don’t like the look of them. Either way, bring the damn line back!

Isn’t the New Day Big E figure just a repaint of the Rock figure? It’s one of the few I don’t have, but thought it looks like the same figure.

Maybe the upper body is the same, but the lower body is def different as Big E. has different style boots than Rock. Big E does look beefier than Rock looks like about the right build for Anvil, but they would need to do something about the boots though.
