with the news of a "new" line coming from Mattel, i feel like this is the death knell for Retros I’m giving it until SDCC in July as that seems to be the event where the majority of Mattel’s announcements are made; if we hear nothing there then even I will give-up. I won’t be there this year to nag the Mattel guys about the Retros, but hopefully if they don’t address the Retros in the panel then someone will be able to ask about them and report back. This new line seems to be a kids line, so in theory shouldn’t have an impact with the target market the Retros should be aimed at, but with the very limited shelf-space Mattel have to work with in the US then they can’t keep adding lines, particularly since Mattel are unlikely to give-up on the Masters line given Mattel’s relationship with He-Man (plus I think the figures are selling well from what I hear, can anyone confirm?), or the Ultimates. So yeah, SDCC will be one year without Retros - nothing new announced = line dead, I think. Hopefully we hear some good news before then...

My local Ollie's Outlet has Retro's for $2 each! If anyone is looking to complete a collection, I would highly recommend checking them out! Picked these up last time I went:

Will Retro Series 9 &/or Series 10, due to low production numbers and not really in stores (except Five Below getting 2 cases of S10) end up as coveted as the original Hasbro Green series 20+ years down the line? I think this is a very good possibility. I don't invest in figures, so I'm not trying to get them and wait 20 years to sell, I just think there's a few commonalities with the last set of Hasbro's and the last 2 sets of Mattel Retros. Any previous talk about this type of thing? What do you guys think? One thing to consider is the state of the collectors of both the Retros and the Hasbros in 20+ years - there’s an argument that we are at the peak of the Hasbro line’s value now due to the age of original Hasbro collectors, who now are most likely to have the disposable income to complete collections, or who are looking back to their childhoods to compensate for the disappointments that our lives in our mid-30s have become, or whatever the amateur psychologist explanation is for toy collectors of our age. In 20 years from now then (those of us who will still be here) will be in our mid-50s - will we be spending our money on old toys then? If we are same market that are supporting the Retros rather than the kids of today, then the nostalgia that raises prices might not be there for the Retros. We might have seen a big drop-off in values for the Hasbros, never-mind the Retro. Or not, just something I have considered.

Go back and get it. Now. Run. It’s by far the most valuable of the line. And the series 1 Owens as well, though the series 4 version reduced his value quite a bit compared to Reigns. Seriously, if you get the chance to buy the Roman Retro at all then I’d definitely do it.

So if you are a MOC collector, not the place for you. They had a ton of Rollins and Goldberg. Like one or two of everyone else.

Sadly the cards and bubbles are very poor on these, particularly the first few series, so I dread to think what condition one might be if it’s been out in the wild all this time, but even the loose Roman figures are valuable - a quick look at US eBay shows loose Romans have sold at over $55 in the last couple of months. I myself paid slightly more for a perfect loose Roman over here on UK eBay recently, and have zero regrets given the market for this figure.

The others are far less valuable; series 3 particularly was seemingly endlessly and massively over-produced, and the more valuable series 2 guys are Mankind and Kane, but again not in the same league as Reigns. Good luck!

Reading this I couldn't help but comment on the no flaws on the Kane... It's missing the belt and both designs down the legs. Those are pretty big omissions. You're 100% right on the omissions. I was just looking at Kane overall and compared to some of the others who had more flaws, I felt he was pretty spot on, especially with height and to me the face was well done.

Went to the store again today. I don't know if everyone's Ollie's is like this or not, but the toy section is everything in the shipping cardboard boxes. Like, practically no toy is on the shelf, it's the big boxes that you then have to open and look through.
Retro wise, all they seemed to have now was 10 or so Goldberg's and 10 or so Rollins's. Couldn't really find anything else.
They did have almost all of the WWE Superstars line, the ones they made for little girls. They had the Sasha/Becky/Bayley talking plushes, they had all three of their figures, and almost all of the Barbie line of dolls they did.

That’s a shame, sounds like someone else got lucky there (or some kid got a figure of his favourite wrestler, which I’m sure we can all agree would be a tremendous waste ). I’d dearly love to one day find-out how many of each series were produced, series 3 seems to be endless - not necessarily the exact numbers, but just an idea of how many of series 3 were produced compared to series 4, or how many of 8, 9 and 10 were produced compared to the original series 7 production (speaking to people at the SDCC Mattel booth I got the impression that Walmart had ordered more of series 7, so were the numbers for 7-10 uniform until that extra order came-in (if indeed it did?) or do 9 and 10 exist in lesser numbers?). So many boring questions

So Ryder and Hawkins are gearing-up to give-up on the Retros if Mattel don’t address them at NYTF next weekend - I was looking at SDCC in July being the last chance for them, but what do you guys think, do we have to face reality this time next week?
