I PVR'd and glossed over this event, essentially cherry picking matches that were of interest to me. I thought Balor vs. Andrade was pretty good despite the dead crowd as well as Triple H vs. Randy Orton, albeit the latter dragged a bit. The nostalgia factor and the fact that I'm a huge Undertaker and Goldberg fan had me oddly hyped for that match. Boy, it was disheartening watching two of my childhood favourites try to navigate their way through this match. It does seem like both of them got dinged up at various points due to mistakes of both ends. As much as it sucks to say, these guys need to retire. I think Goldberg definitely will after this match. Undertaker will probably hang on for a few more matches, before a proper sendoff. He should under no circumstances wrestle another legend though. I think that was a major part of why this match fell off the rails. Both guys rarely wrestle nowadays and are clearly not in great cardiovascular shape. While both guys looked winded, Goldberg looked absolutely gassed after a certain point. If Undertaker does decide to wrestle again then it will need to be against somebody young enough to carry the match, similar to his match with Rusev last year.

Its being overlooked that Taker also dropped Goldberg on his head with that tombstone. He's lucky he didn't give him a stinger or worse.
I was sitting there watching and I literally said to my brother, Theyll blame Goldberg for this and it wasn't his fault at all.

The match was flawed from the start because it featured two fifty year olds who haven't been active wrestlers for years trying to have a match like it was 1998. It was obvious that Goldberg lost something after the tombstone pile driver and hitting the ring post. I think they did their best at the end to make lemonade out of lemons but it was an uphill climb from the moment the bell rang.

Undertaker/Goldberg was pretty damn good other than like 2/3 botches. I wasn’t able to watch live, but people online were making that match sound like the worst thing ever

I watched with my cousin that hasn't watched any wrestling since 2004. He actually enjoyed the show and especially Taker and Goldberg, obviously for nostalgic reasons though.
I then showed him the 6 man ladder match for the North American championship straight after and he was absolutely glued to it. Despite not knowing anyone in the match, he now wants to come and watch every Takeover with me from now on. So I guess Supershowdown accomplished something by attracting back some old fans 🤷♂️

I see a lot of people seem like they’re almost gloating that Goldberg/Taker was the shave-it’s. Yes they are too old for this, but i really think the booking has a lot to do with this. I may have misunderstood but I think it was almost 1AM Saudi time when they finished the match, it was 100 degree in there and these two legends/part timers are sitting getting fatigued waiting through this show for the main event. Wwe should of booked them 1st or 3rd. I think Goldberg head butted the door before he came out. He looked kinda out of it on his entrance. The spear to the post was the icing on the cake.
I agree with a few other members. Everyone is shatting on Goldberg for the jackhammer botch but taker spiked Goldberg bad on a tombstone before that. I was never a Goldberg fan, but I feel bad that this is the way he goes out. His program with Lesnar was a perfect send off.

I just watched this. This was not as tough to watch as normal wwe programming. Still not as enjoyable as it should be though.
I'll start at the beginning.
Jeddah? Again? Is this the only city in Saudia Arabia? Or is that where the King demands all events are held?
Who is Rene Young? Why is she employed as a commentator? She is as entertaining as a load of grying laundry.
Cole is annoying but better than the other guy. Or maybe I just remember Cole so I was more fond of him?
Baron Corbin, or is that a waiter? Why doesn't he have wrestling gear? He looks like he should be selling beer at a concession stand, not wrestling in the ring. And the Universal title is the curtain jerker? Did Brock want to leave early? Would he even be allowed to leave?
Seth Rollins had a flashy entrance. I hadn't seen the entrance ramp also be a screen before. The Flashy entrance tells me Rollins will be the winner......... and I wasnt wrong.
Next match.
Andrade vs Balor..... Balor got a much longer, much flashier entrance than Andrade, balor is winning. Finn looked like he half tushed his makeup. He looks like he borrowed from Demolition and Ultimate Warrior, but with Leaping Lanny's body. Especially when he wears blue gear, I could swear he is Leaping Lanny version 2. And again, another predictable finish.
Next match
Shane vs Roman
I could not care less about this match. I've never been a fan of McMahons in ppv matches. I can see them do segments on raw as filler. But on a ppv? It's a waste of time. Shane is calling himself the greatest in the world...... greatest what exactly? Waste of space? And by waste of space I mean on a wrestling program. You'll never go to a house show and see Shane there. He isn't a wrestler. He doesn't go through the daily grind. He just show horns himself into what ever spot he wants for ppvs only. I fast forwarded through this match. I have no time for Shane.
Next match
Lars vs Lucha
3 on one is good to make a monster look like a monster. But not when those 3 are regular guys on your roster. 3 on 1 should be 1 star vs 3 no name jobbers. Why crush 3 of your stars? Also why is Lars even still employed? Does wwe condone his style of hate? Lars looks like he is right on the edge of being fit/fat. He looks so bland and generic. Even his trunks look generic tights with his name written using black tape on the back side. Lars reminds me of Iron Mike Sharp. He has size, he looks strong, but maybe not a top guy? Of course Iron Mike could wrestle though, so no disrespect to Iron Mike.
Next match.
Randy Orton vs Hhh...... I have no interest in watching this match. Orton should have been fired more than 10 years ago. It's a shame he has had such a lengthy career in wwe. I fast fowarded.
Next match
Lashley vs Braun, this match seemed like something you would have seen in the WWF during the Hogan era. It was a great match but very short. Both guys look like badasses.
Next match
Kingston vs Ziggler
I cant believe this is the wwe heavyweight title. Neither of the two looks like a heavyweight. The dude with the trombone has to feel like a total clown, his mate is champ defending his title, and he is stuck blowing into a trombone. I didn't care for this match.
Next match
50 man battle royal. I did a time check here. I couldn't believe that so little time was left on the card and the biggest match was up. I couldn't imagine how they would fit the last match in after this. The entrances, or lack thereof was so goofy. You either play everyone's music, or no ones. When you have several guys walk in with no music, it tells me they are unimportant. The winner surprised me because I had no idea who he is. But then I saw that he was a hometown guy, so that made sense. I just wonder if it was wer pandering to the locals or if some Rich Saudi paid to have that end result.
Next match
Undertaker vs Goldberg. It was a bad sign when the undertaker first got up, he used the ropes to pull himself up. He is past his wrestling days. Botch after botch after botch. This match would have been interesting 20 years ago. Still....... it felt like a big match and had more of an important feel than the rest of the card. And that is a shame. Wwe has failed miserably to create new stars.

How can you first off complain that the WWE programming is bad, and then proceed to say how you don’t know who certain guys are that have been around for years? That means you haven’t watched in years so how do you know it’s no good? 2016 was a phenomenal year and part of 2017 was as well. Corbin has been a major highlight the last 3 years on both brands so there’s no way you’ve been watching the programming and can then straight up ask who he is, the same with Renee Young. Aside from that I’m not looking to comment on everything stupid in your post except that you said Kofi vs Dolph was for the heavyweight title. It was for the WWE Championship. The word “Heavyweight” is nowhere in that title. It hasn’t been the “Heavyweight” title since it was renamed the Undisputed Title, followed by them making WCW’s title the “Heavyweight Championship”. You sound like an old man who complains to the food store manager when they stops selling a discontinued product as if it’s their fault.

I guess my opinion just goes against what you love? You're right. I dont watch. I randomly watch 1 or 2 ppv events a year. The Saudi events are extraordinary so I try to watch them. Wwe has to please their Saudi customers so I expect to see things that are out of the ordinary. Wwe took the word Heavyweight out of the title. And the belt looks like women's jewelry. But if you look at it's lineage, it is the heavyweight title. Wwe stopped using the term because they dont have many heavyweights these days. I know wwe is no good because facts tell me it is no good. When I read online that viewership is at an all time low, and that networks are not pleased with ratings........ those are facts. You might enjoy the program but you'd be in the minority there. When I see Wrestlemania is main evented by ladies, I know wwe has no bankable Male wrestlers. No stars. They need to change what they are doing. Ladys do not draw. That's why Glow, WOW, and many other all lady promotions crashed and burned. Maybe wwe will be the first ever promotion to succeed with women at the forefront? But I doubt it. Ladys usually do not stick around as pro wrestlers for more than 10 years.

Personally, i'm in favor of a Goldberg/Undertaker rematch down the line. I think both men were unhappy with how the match turned out and would be motivated to do better with a second chance. With that said, I don't think they would tear the house down with a second match... but it would be better because they've now been in the ring together recently...

Women. They are called “Women”. Not Ladies.
It’s people like you that make it so hard for the new generation of wrestling to succeed.

And he’s said in interviews this year that he’d come out of retirement for one match - against Undertaker.

And he’s said in interviews this year that he’d come out of retirement for one match - against Undertaker. Pretty sure Sting said in an interview that his doctors told him it was best if he retired because one wrong movement or landing could do permanent damage. As soon as it happened, I remember saying he was nowhere near connecting. To be fair though, that match was far better than I ever expected, even if it did drag on. I thought the match was a solid contest that actually made sense. I just didn’t recall that instance. And the photo is quite amusing. That’s Orton coming down from Drop kicking Triple H while he was jumping back into the ring. It’s an odd angle but they were much closer in the angle that they showed on the PPV.
