Figure we could really get some good discussions from this. This wont be like my gimmick thread where I go from beginning to end but rather just my overall thoughts of said feud. Majority of these will be famous feuds but every now and the I'll throw in some lower tier feuds through the years. Lets begin humanoids!!
Mega Powers Explode!!!
Kicking it off here with an iconic feud of the late 80s. I liked how at WM IV after Savage won the belt you see Hogan pick up Liz with Mach looking like ''What the hell you doing?'' Then at SSlam and SSeries that year they would do the same thing with it being a little more evident Savage was getting pissed with Hogan hugging Liz.When they finally did the turn on SNME in February 89 it was gold. Savage IMO had every right to be ticked off(kayfabe speaking) after Hogan abandoned him in the ring to get Liz help. Ventura on commentary really takes the cake as he pretty much destroys Hogan on commentary for doing it.The promos leading up to WM V man were great from both guys. You really felt the real life animosity between the two shine through here.
The match itself at Mania was very good. Great storytelling with Mach playing the great dastardly heel with him yelling at Liz to leave the ringside area plus you had Hogan bleeding here which for this era didn't happen often. No surprise in the winner but still great, great stuff here from an angle that started during Fall of 87 and reached the climax in April 89! Storytelling at it's finest that's for sure.

My favorite feud, my only problems being: - Hogan winning - Hogan playing the face
To me Hogan is the ultimate cheapshot heel. He sacred like a heel but didn't get booed by the crowd, other than eliminating Sid.
I was such a Savage mark that I was still cheering for him as Macho King. I think he was the only heel people would really get behind

Whether Hogan or Savage were tag team partners or enemies, in the ring or in real life, their careers will always be connected with one another. I also want a red/yellow Mega Powers shirt.

I remember being really invested in their WM match and hoping for Savage to win but knowing deep down inside how it was going to end lol. I was kinda over Hogan by that point. Also, I'm surprised how often they fought a few years earlier when Savage first came to the WWF and later when he was IC champ. They definitely had chemistry even then but, then again Savage was having good matches with practically everyone at that time.

This was my first wrestling memory. I had a friend who was a huge wrestling fan at the time, he came over one day and we watched either the SNME where Savage slapped Hogan or the Superstars show after the event recapping what happed at SNME - I can't remember exactly. Either way, this was story telling at its finest. An angle that started in late 1987 and ended in early 1990 - amazing. The other amazing thing, in the year that they were feuding with each other, Feb 89 to Feb 90, they only fought on television 4 times; WM5, SSL89, No Holds Barred PPV match, and The Main Event in Feb 90. Nowadays, guys feuding with each other fight on TV 4 times in one month. I would have loved for Savage to hang on to the title but I think most people figured Hogan was going to win. But, one of my favorite Savage era's was coming up, The Macho King era. This was the period that I really got into wrestling, and the Kingdom of the Madness was my favorite part. Good memories.

Philadelphia at the Spectrum You are correct sir! circa September 85.
I miss that place. One of the meccas of wrestling back in the day. Many memories for this humanoid in that building.

Yeah, I would bet at this time, 1985, that the Spectrum would be their #2 building behind MSG.

Yeah, I would bet at this time, 1985, that the Spectrum would be their #2 building behind MSG. Yeah their top 4 spots were NY, Philly and Boston and Toronto. They would get a show every month back during those days.

They would get a show every month back during those days. Always loved the atmosphere in the Boston Garden and Maple Leaf Gardens. Both of them seemed a bit more grimy than MSG (in a good way) and thought the ramp in Toronto was cool.

Putting Sherri with Savage post Mania V was a great way to enter the next phase of the feud after the Mega Powers stuff was done.
Really well done post match angle here...

Great read and I look forward to reading more I love this feud and I consider this to be Hulk Hogans finest in ring performance in the WWF. It is such an exciting match and as you said it felt real. Everything about this whole feud felt real and that comes through the camera even all these years later. Ther is a fun rematch on a Silver Vision VHS called World Tour 89/90 that does not match the excitement of the WrestleMania V match, but it is still worth a watch.
