All this talk of WM8 lately has me wondering....what was your ideal version of the card considering the players they had at the time? From the top...
Hulk Hogan d Ric Flair for the WWF Championship (if Hogan has to leave? fabricate an injury after assault by Flair and organize a tournament)
Hogan is attacked after the match by Flair, Sid & whoever and Warrior comes in to make the save
Bret Hart d Roddy piper for the IC title (change NOTHING here)
LOD defeats Money Inc for the tag titles. (The title switch to Money Inc would ideally have happened on SNME in Feb)
Randy Savage d Jake Roberts in a loser leaves WWF match. (Hogan & roster comes out to congratulate Randy afterwards)
Undertaker & Sid battle to a double DQ after a heated arena wide brawl
HBK defeats Owen Hart
British Bulldog smashes Skinner
Tatanka defeats Martel
Bushwhackers d The Nastys Boys (who were leaving anyway) ina short squash feelgood match for the crowd to get them going.
your thoughts?

Im liking some of the match choices and agree with them but just to point out that the Nastys weren't leaving in 92. They stuck around and turned face in late 92 and didn't leave until spr/summer 93

I do think Savage and Robert's amazing feud should have ended here and a loser leaves town match fit the story perfectly but I see multiple issues why they wouldn't have used the stipulation.
First, the title Loser Leaves Town was a territory term and Vince considered the WWF the only game in town, refusing to recognize characters and accomplishments from other territories. See WM VII where Warrior-Savage is dubbed a career ending match and not Loser Leaves Town because there is no other game in town so it's a career ender. Sure, maybe calling it career ender allowed them to continue to use Savage on air just not in ring but I think calling it a career ending match was more to insinuate the wrestler had no other opportunities.
2nd, back to WM VII Savage had just had a Career Ending Match the previous year, lost and was back competing a year later. Definitely waters down the impact of such a serious stipulation. Maybe it doesn't matter because Robert's ended up losing and leaving anyway but still a big reason not to utilize the stipulation in my book.
I do wish Warrior could have made his return for Jake's match though. That would've been a great feud to transition Jake to if he had stayed since his heel turn was involving Warrior.

I liked the Jake "The Snake" Roberts and Undertaker match.
Sid Justice vs Randy Savage

I would probably just change the 4 of the main matches leaving the rest of the card as is:
Hogan vs Flair (Flair wins by DQ when Sid interferes, do an injury angle as to why Hogan would not be seen on TV, still have Warrior make the save for Hogan) Macho vs Jake (I like the idea of a loser leaves the WWF match to end this feud) Sid vs Taker (maybe do the double turn here) LOD vs Money Inc (though, I'm not sure if LOD were able to wrestle at this time since Hawk was suspended for steroid use) Bret vs Piper Tito vs HBK Tatanka vs Model Bulldog vs Berzerker (which was supposed to happen on the show but didn't because time ran long) Bossman/Virgil/Hacksaw/Sarge vs Mountie/Repo/Nasty Boys
Setting up Summer Slam 1992: Savage vs Flair (for the WWF title) Hogan vs Sid (if Sid stays around and Hogan comes in for 1 match while filming Mr. Nanny) Taker vs Jake (if they don't do the loser leaves WWF stipulation) LOD vs Money Inc (Money Inc. wins back the tag belts since LOD leaves after this) Bret vs Davey Warrior vs Kamala (if Hogan doesn't come back for 1 match, then put Warrior vs Sid) HBK vs Model Crush vs Repo Man Virgil vs Nailz Natural Disasters vs Beverly Brothers (number 1 contenders match)

You could turn Owen Hart heel and put him against Koko B. Ware.

I think August 1991-November 1992 is the most interesting time in the WWF for "what if" scenarios and plans changing so rapidly and curiously

I'm also partial to WM8 because it was the first PPV I ever watched live as a kid. I actually just watched it yesterday!
Interesting that only one heel (Shawn Michaels) won a match all night.

I always thought Wrestlemania VIII should have went like this.....
Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair for the WWE Title
Sid Justice vs. The Undertaker
Randy "Macho Man" Savage vs. Jake "the Snake" Roberts
Legion of Doom vs. Money Inc. for the Tag Titles
Natural Disasters vs. Nasty Boys in a grudge match
Shawn Michaels vs. Marty Jannetty
Bret "Hitman" Hart vs. "Rowdy" Roddy Piper for the IC Title
British Bulldog vs. The Berzerker
Tatanka vs. "The Model" Rick Martel
Owen Hart, Big Boss Man, Tito Santana, Sgt. Slaughter & Jim Duggan vs. Beverly Brothers, Repo Man, Skinner and The Mountie in a big ten man tag match
I would have much preferred that Wrestlemania VIII over the one we got.

This is the most solid version by far especially if jake v macho was in a cage. Perfect match making for that period and with warrior doing his return and lugers debut promo with Bobby and monsoon would have been so awesome to watch.

Shame Jannetty was all messed up during this time as the Rockers imploding at this Mania would've been great.

I would have kept the majority of the actual WrestleMania VIII card as is, but change the main event matches.
Option A
Number 1 contenders match for a shot at the WWF World Heavyweight Championship Title at SummerSlam 1992 Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Sid Justice
WWE World Heavyweight Championship Title match Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair
Option B
WWE World Heavyweight Championship Title Fatal Four Way match Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Sid Justice vs. Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair

In a perfect world where no one is suspended or arrested:
1. Jim Duggan & Sgt. Slaughter over Money INC for the Tag titles (we would see some pretty bad teams hold the tag titles later in the 90's so why not give Duggan a title)
2. The Undertaker over The Mountie
3. Shawn Michaels over Marty Jannetty
4. LOD over Natural Disasters
5. Rick Martel over Tito Santana
6. Randy Savage over Jake Roberts - Cage Match
7. Bret over Piper for the IC title
8. Hogan over Flair DQ - Sid run in.
Don't ask me how some of the feuds got here, that's just what I came up with giving it very little thought.

That is a damn solid card yu have put together there. I fully agree with The Legion of Doom, WrestleMania VIII should have had them walk out as the WWF tag team champions. In all honesty, I would have kept the rest of the card as is. I know most people wanted Hogan vs Flair, but I loved Savage vs Flair and Hogan vs Sid as a kid. Even if I was on team Sid as Hogan was the true heel of WrestleMania VIII

They stuck around and turned face in late 92 and didn't leave until spr/summer 93 I knew they didn't bail until 1993. Vince was pretty much finished with them in 1992 and they knew it..they said so in their shoot. They hated the face turn later on...said it didn't fit their gimmick(they were right) they were looking to go from early 92...Watts had made them an offer I believe....

You could turn Owen Hart heel and put him against Koko B. Ware. They weren't a team yet and I'm not sure if Koko was actively with the WWF at the time. But that could have been a fun match to watch.
