Totally sucks about Sting but I heard that UE 7 Hollywood Hogan is due to be released by RSC around November/December. Let's hope Hogan doesn't screw things up before then!! how are people complaining about "lack of transparency" when theres a 300 friggin' page thread with THE GUY FROM MATTEL literally answering 50 questions a day about "can you guys make an elite of __________ (insert guy who's not under contract here)" CLEARLY when Steve was talking about Sting awhile back everything was fine. As we learned a few weeks ago when like a dozen active WWE wrestlers were fired, things can change VERY quickly. I'm sure we will find out at least some info on what happened with Sting in the near future, but just because Steve isn't rushing to this board to create a stickied thread detailing every single thing that happened with Legends 7 (after there was a 25 page thread yesterday where a lot of people were bashing him and mattel for something that wasn't in their control at all) is not surprising, nor is it even necessary Ya'll need to chill the ![](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/wfcensored.gif) out. Seriously. Yes it sucks the Legends 7 Sting appears to be cancelled. But it's not like that's the only Sting figure we've ever gotten and it's also not the worst thing that's ever happened the way some people are acting on here. We literally begged Mattel for the past 8 years to bring back the Legends line, they did...we all were able to pre-order it from Target's website today in the EASIEST way ever, which is another thing people have been complaining about (getting store exclusives) and yet people are STILL finding things to bitch about. Bro, let's keep in mind that you're a mod. A mod's job is to ensure discourse remains civil and on-topic. It is not your job to dictate what opinions people have or whether those opinions are valid, which is exactly what your post does. You finger-wag at people for being disappointed with losing out on this iconic look of Sting's, and exaggerate that "people will never be happy" like a nagging parent to their ingrate kids. I'm sorry but who the F are you to take that position? This is not a Mattel-sponsored board. People can criticize whatever they want, as long as it doesn't reach harassment/incivility. I have no idea what 25-page thread you are referring to, but after reading all 11 pages in this thread, all I see is a bunch of differing opinions over the situation. And then one guy defending Mattel with hyperbole, exaggeration, and ALL CAPS - like it's his job. Chill out, let people vent, and keep your charge in mind as a mod of this forum. Just b/c we've both been here longer than most anyone does not mean we're licensed to be excessively crusty

Ric Flair is supposedly under a WWE contract again, maybe that will make some feel a little better if Flair figures can be back.

I honestly think it's just like when Flair was pulled from the Ultimate line because his contract was up. And now it's being reported that he has signed with WWE again. Hopefully Sting will re-sign also and we'll be back on track soon enough.
As for him going to AEW. I don't know if I see the benefit for them to bring him in at the moment. Yes he has some name value left, but it never did much for TNA. Plus now Sting is 61 with a bad neck. And you'd think signing him would not be a top priority considering they're losing money due to the virus just like everyone else is. Not trying to turn this into a WWE vs AEW thing, just giving my two cents.

I love the Starrcade ‘97 figure, but I have to disagree. The DM wasn’t his iconic Crow look. It was a defining moment in his career, but the attire wasn’t his iconic crow look. I would say his iconic Crow look would be the black singlet with the scorpions on both sides of the torso & legs. That’s the attire he’s worn the longest. This is what comes to mind when I think WCW Crow Sting... ![](https://i.imgur.com/fjehtbo.jpg) i know you're the Sting expert, and I will never question your opinions. i was just being more general than anything else. when i look at that DM Sting, it's WCW "Crow" Sting. To me it's his best look, regardless of what's printed where on his outfit. I'm merely talking about the fact that we got a very well done "Crow" Sting and that overall look to me is his most iconic. Not that exact specific attire. I agree that the DM Crow look is his more iconic Crow Sting look over like '98ish WCW Crow Sting. That Starcade match was waaaaay bigger than any of his other WCW matches after that. I wish we would've got a '99 Sting with the move evil looking paint and the slightly shorter hair. You can actually piece together a pretty decent Elite 98 WCW Sting with all of the other Sting figures.

Ok Charles Dickens. I think people are more upset about the fact that the Sting thing had to have been known before preorders were going up. Someone asked AFA about MOC pics on the 9th before the original preorder date. I think that would have been an ideal time to share that information about Sting. But god forbid news breaks on a forum about wrestling figures.
nobody knows when Mattel was "told" about Sting, what if it happened Saturday? what if it happened the day of the pre-order announcement, Steve probably has a little more on his plate than worrying about running to WFigs with an update on a cancelled Sting figure since all it would do is create a bunch of complaining and whining anyway, plus a thousand questions about "WHY? ![???](http://www.wrestlingfigs.com/images/huh.gif) ??" that he wouldn't be in his power to answer, it made sense to just have it be done like this and answer the question afterward by saying "it had to be pulled due to an unexpected circumstance" Considering Sting is the only wrestler not pictures in the WWE Universe announcement, someone was clearly told before Friday, May 8 because that's when the announcement was released. That was clearly a warning sign to users here that Sting wasn't going to be included.

Well we did get that in basic form. True and like I said earlier in the thread it wouldn’t be as big of a deal if the Basics were in scale with his Elites but the B62 Starrcade ‘90 neon green and all Basic Crow Sting figures are grossly shorter than the Elites. Bret is another who’s basics besides the RRH are grossly shorter than his Elites. I had taken fresh out of box pics of the scale of them in the past but Tiny Pic where I had them is gone. So here’s a new pic, but keep in mind it should be even worse of a difference because I raised the heads on the basics by putting cotton inside the hole in the head. ![](https://i.imgur.com/6CJqNyV.jpg) Here’s a pic I had posted back then ![](https://i.imgur.com/HH3agw7.jpg) This is why I never buy basics.

If he signed a 5 year deal then it would renew/renegotiate around the first of the year. It could be possible that he was in the middle of renewing his deal with the pandemic pops up. WWE puts things on a freeze thus making him a "free agent" but also freezing his figure.

Let me start by saying Sting is my favorite wrestler of all time. I’m content with the DM Crow Sting. It’s my favorite figure of all time. I pretty much wanted that specific figure when Jakks was making the classics. I’m bummed about Legends 7 Sting. It’s not a figure I needed. But once we started seeing more pictures I decided I wanted to get it.
HOWEVER, what I am more bummed about is not getting a Surfer Sting. With each release, I just kept saying to myself “I’ll wait for the next one, this one is alright but the next one should be better”. I’m partially to blame here since I’ve had opportunities at them all but didn’t pull the trigger. They just didn’t blow me away enough where I said “this I have to have”. I thought we were headed that way with the Ultimate line. Hopefully it’s just a minor inconvenience and he is back under contact soon.

This is some real egg-on-the-face for Mattel, even if it's not entirely their fault. WWE/Mattel are collectively to blame. Why would they lead the return of the Legends series with a headline talent whose contract was not squared away? It's not like contracts mysteriously disintegrate for no reason. They terminate either due to timing or breach of the parties - both of which are within WWE/Mattel's control. This just looks sloppy and wouldn't be surprised if Target, the sponsor of this entire series, takes issue too and causes them to question supporting the line before it's even hit retail. Just add this to the list of other talent/attires that "somehow" got away from Mattel - classic Dudz, Hollywood Hogan, WCW Jericho, Team Xtreme, etc...hopefully WM14 Taker does not join this graveyard.

I mean I’d assume both sides have something to do with covid. The delays in manufacturing them, having them ready led to this, and I’m sure the legends deal expired because of the current pandemic.

The real shame of this is that on the elite surfer Sting’s that we got, there were some mind-boggling part choices made. Bill must have really hated Sting to combine that ridiculous Batista torso with those scrawny Daniel Bryan legs. Now, who knows if we’ll ever get another chance for a proper elite Surfer Sting. 😕

Sting is my favorite of all time. For me personally, it was not about the attires we got, but more of how they were executed. For example, we got a Wolfpac Sting, but there were so many things wrong with it. The figure had a really small torso on a pair of thick legs, the nWo logo was misplaced, he had missing paint work on his lips and the arms were small. Now anyone seeing this might say it’s nitpicking, but when it’s your favorite wrestler and he hasn’t had flashback figures released since he was in WCW these details are important. It was the only Wolfpac Sting we got... Imo it’s important to get them right on the first try considering his attire is very straight forward. The same applies to the other Sting figures and their part choices. They were very INCONSISTENT. Anyways, as far as iconic looks, we never got a proper ‘98 singlet Sting with the scorpion logo on his chest and padded shoulder straps, ‘96 Crow with half face paint, ‘99 Crow version with white boots, ‘99 Crow Sting with leather pants from when he fought Bret, final Nitro Sting and then there’s a boatload of surfer Stings that could of been made. I know a lot of people wanted the pink on pink surfer Sting for a while. Maybe for some folks it might sound like it’s the same attire being released over and over, but trust me there were differences between those attires and facepaints he wore throughout those years.

I Agree with you on this one when you have a near about 5 years of contract and they give u only near about 5 sting elites makes it around 1 figure a year how can they justify that they have done it all. More over who is interested in modern day sting with painted on torso or surfer sting with stiff jackets.
