First and foremost, this is simply my personal opinion and I am not here to start any arguments or fights. I am not here to bash AEW or say that WWE is better. I am a fan of wrestling. Period. I enjoy all wrestling and I am not looking for any company to go out of business or for people to lose their jobs.
What bothers me most about AEW is that they claimed that they would change the game. They claimed they would do things the "right" way and would consistently knock WWE for doing "wrong" things. I have watched every single episode of AEW Dynamite and do not see how they have "changed the game." AEW has failed to gain over 1 million viewers each week and the wrestling on the show is no different/ better than wrestling on NXT or NJPW. There are things that I fully enjoyed such as Jericho's title run, and the Cody v. MJF feud, but there are many things that have been bothering me as of late (again this is my opinion, and I am not trying to start fights).
Here are some things that bother me: 1) The usage of Kenny Omega & the Young Bucks - Kenny was the most sought-after free agent before signing with AEW. He had phenomenal matches in NJPW and proved that he was a draw. He has since lost numerous 1-1 matches to top stars, and has been thrown into a makeshift tag-team. The Young Bucks lose way more than they should and it is frustrating when JR says that they are the best tag team but have NEVER won the AEW titles. He should not be able to say that yet. Also, they should have never lost to Private Party in the first round of the tournament. That win for Private Party has done nothing for them since and looking back it was a bad booking decision. They also lost to a new team of Omega/Page with all of their experience.
2) The usage of "Jobbers" - I think we can all agree that jobbers and enhancement talent play an important role in this business. Their job is solely to get another talent over. For some reason, AEW doesn't understand how this role works, and thinks that every single match needs to play out 50/50. For example, on the most recent Dynamite, Moxley gave #10 way, WAY too much offense when Mox is supposed to look good leading into his title defense tonight. Also, Omega gave some nobody a ridiculous amount of offense when we have never seen that guy again. If they want to argue and say that they are trying to build other stars, then that should lead to something.
3) Mark Stunt - Is there really more that needs to be said here? I heard Bubba Ray compare him to Spike Dudley recently and I could not be more taken back by the fact that someone like Bubba thought this.
4) AEW title - To date, the AEW title has only been held by past WWE guys. I understand that the company isn't even a year old yet, but it is still interesting to me.
5) TNT title - The name alone kills me, but the fact that Lance Archer (a guy who only signed recently) is in the finals is another issue to me. AEW is signing too many guys at a rate that no one can keep up with. A lot of their original signings such as Kip Sabian, Darby Allen, and Shawn Spears are being relegated to AEW Dark while Archer gets pushed to the moon.
6) The women's division - AEW's women's division is lacking of starpower and talent. The matches are bad and the Brandi Rhodes storyline was potentially a career-killer for all involved.
7) The win-loss record - I believe that the win-loss record is doing more harm than good. There are almost NO people with .500 percentages. You are either a winner, or a loser. Those that are losing, have almost no hope of recovering. For example, the last time checked, Shawn Spears had a 0-7 or 0-8 record. How do you save a guy, or make a guy look like a threat with that record? There is a reason that you do not keep track of every single win or loss. You can rebuild a guy with a few wins on TV and make him look like he has turned things around, however if you show that his record is 3-9 then it takes that all away. I know that everyone hates the Jinder Mahal title reign, but WWE was able to pull that off because they were able to make him look like a winner again. If they showed a record for Mahal, it would be even worse.
8) The rankings - AEW has shown time and time again that the rankings are pointless. How is Brodie Lee the next title contender when he has only beaten jobbers? Why have a fatal four way match to determine the number one contender for the women's title when you have a number one contender in your rankings? Essentially, the #4 ranked person could pin the #3 ranked person and get a title shot over the #1 ranked person? That doesn't make any sense.
9) The tag division - One of the things that is supposed to make AEW stand above the other promotions is their tag division. To date, the only two pairs of Tag champions are SCU and Omega/Page. I understand that the company is still new and we don't want shor title reigns, but how does a makeshift team of Omega/Page hold the titles before the Young Bucks and Pentagon & Fenix? Also, how can you take things seriously when you have Marko Stunt/ Jungle Boy almost beating Pentagon/ Fenix and when you have that Michael Nakazawa tag match a few weeks ago? Omega and Page were not even the #1 ranked tag team when they challenged for the titles. They won a fatal four way (which I talked about before).
10) Sports feel - These issues, complaints, problems, whatever you want to call them, are in no particular order. However, this one is my biggest gripe with AEW. AEW claimed time and time again that they would have a "sports feel" to their promotion. I would beg to differ after numerous evidence and examples from the episodes I have watched (and again I have watched EVERY episode). I know many people have been complaining about Matt Hardy and the silliness there, but that is not the only example. One of my biggest problems with NJPW is the fact that there are almost no DQ's and that you can introduce weapons whenever you want. That has become the case in AEW as well. There have been many matches where a table, or some other weapon, has been used and the ref doesn't call for a DQ. How can you willingly use a table during a match and not consider that an unfair advantage?
** The referees - This is not a huge issue, but I cannot stand that obsession they have with Aubrey Edwards. She is not the first female ref and she will not be the last. Also, the refs are almost always looking at people when they are doing bad things and never call a DQ.
These are not small things to me and have really been taking away from my enjoyment of AEW. Do not claim to change the world of wrestling, only to make similar mistakes as your competition. No one is perfect, but you should be doing the things you set out to do.

They did get over a million their first 3 weeks and if it wasn’t for the pandemic, Blood and Guts would have.
If Omega and the Bucks won too much you’d be complaining that they always win because they’re executives of the company.
I don’t have a problem with job guys getting some offense as a complete one sided match is boring. Plus maybe these guys will be more than jobbers in the future.
Spike Dudley is a bodybuilder compared to Marko Stunt. So I agree with that.
The women’s matches have mostly been sloppy. They should hire Dave Finlay.
I don’t know if a sports-based product would appeal to the masses so maybe that’s why they changed their mind about that?
One thing I don’t like about AEW is they have too many “outlaw mud show” wrestlers and that could be one reason a lot of fans have left after the first 3 shows.

I may not agree with you on most of those points, but what is cool about AEW is they do try to listen to fans. You have valid points. Write this on a social media platform, tag them via twitter or facebook or something, and maybe they can see the critisicms and fix it. They do want to get better...

Man.. that was a lot in one post.
I'm not gonna answer every one, some I agree with, but there are a few I can chat about.
1) I think you're missing the larger story(ies) here, big-time. They addressed this at their New Years show, but one of the big arcs in 2020 is the story of whether or not the Elite is still the Elite, or if they've lost "it" after taking on their other roles, etc. They're playing the long game with all of these guys. Have they gotten a little too fancy with it at time? Honestly, probably, but they're all talented enough that they can still make it payoff. The Bucks will have their time to shine, and it's near, but if they'd won off the bat everyone would have just ranted that they made a company just to put themselves over. They've now got people complaining they aren't winning enough. I think they did what they set out to do. Prove they aren't selfish, and prove their spots at the top are warranted when they take them.
2) I know a ton of people agree with you here, and I totally get it. That said, I take a totally different perspective, and it translates to sports feel. In any given night in the NBA, NFL, MLB, ATP/WTA, whatever, the top person or team can lose to the bottom person or team. I'll use tennis as an example since I'm very familiar with it, and I think it relates very closely here. The top guys, Djokovic, Federer, Nadal, win a lot more than they lose. But they are all capable and have lost to people far 'beneath' them, and they rarely totally dominate every single point. They win plenty of games 40-30, plenty of sets 6-4, against opponents far below them. The difference is that last point, that championship moment, where the true stars shine. The first round is often more dangerous than any round up until the quarters or semi's for them, since they've got someone in the biggest match of their life fighting for their life. I see the way the jobbers work as that story being told. I get when people disagree here and that's totally fine, this is just what I take from the role, and why it doesn't really bother me. If I take Kenny's match as an example, that jobber was obviously fighting for his life. That's the biggest match of his career. Conversely, Kenny wouldn't go in taking it as seriously, and you could see the moment where Kenny had to flip and turn it on, and then he crushed him with 2 V-triggers, which rarely get a win, but got the pin there.
3) Marko is fun. He's not Spike Dudley, that is a weird comparison, but he's a cool dude and serves a role. There are going to be kids out there who are the smallest, picked on, etc, and they're going to really be able to look up to someone like Marko.
8) Brodie was the highest ranked available. Cody/Lance both in TNT match, Kenny has tag title already. Brodie was next on that list.
Admittedly with some of these things, at least in the past couple months, there's only so much they could do with the resources they had, and the circumstances that came about. Same for WWE/NXT. Hard to be critical of anything in the last couple of months. I think they've done a pretty good job of listening to their audience overall though. Nightmare Collective didn't get over so they scrapped it. Dark Order was misfiring so they adjusted it. They've been pretty smart about when to stick to their guns and when not to. Obviously things aren't perfect, but they're trying, and doing a good job of trying to change when things aren't working.
Small edit about rankings: this kinda drives me nuts for UFC as well, but it's not always the number one rank that gets the title shot there, so I don't think it takes away from the sports feel too much. Plus other sports have playoffs, could think of some of these contender matches in that way. I'd be interested to know if that was their line of thought actually.

Sports and wrestling do not mix. Wrestling is the battle between good and evil with OTT spots, silliness, feuds, characters etc. That stuff draws and gives fans entertainment. If wrestling was a sport there would be no fun in it.
Now if I were to complain about AEW it would be that there are too many random matches with no story behind them. For example a few weeks ago Frankie Kazarian fought Jon Moxley in his first singles match. Now why would that match even take place? A tag team wrestler fighting the World champion in his first singles match was one of the most random matches I've ever seen.

I posted about Marko Stunt earlier this week, but again, he loses almost all the matches he's in. He might get a couple of dropkicks or hurricanranas in but generally he's just getting thrown around. If he's won it's only been on Dark or in a tag match. Not even coming at you specifically but I'm reminded of Jim Cornette going off on his match vs. Lance Archer and acting like it was competitive, when it was only as long as it was because Archer wanted to keep killing him (I'd have to watch it again but I don't think he even took Archer off his feet). The hatred he gets confuses me. He's in the same role QT Marshall is in, which is essentially a glorified jobber.
I do actually agree with you on Omega. If I wasn't familiar with him and AEW was my first exposure he'd just blend in with everyone else. I get he probably doesn't want to book himself over everyone, but meh, sometimes it pays to be selfish.
They deserve credit for abruptly ending the Brandi storyline IMO. Pretty sure everyone hated it so they just said screw it. I appreciate that more than them doubling down on it.
The women's division is blah but it gives us Hikaru Shida, so that's something.
As for the tag division, if not for the Coronavirus and Page being off TV for two months I just assumed they'd have lost the belts by now.

No wrestling company will truly change the game or really could.Yes AEW is very similar to NXT & NJPW but that's a good thing as those three are the only companies to product quality wrestling and storylines on weekly or monthly bases. As far as Omega,Bucks,Cody,Page...ect the reason why The Elite loses so much in AEW is their trying to get other talents over and they know if they book themselfs all as the top of the card and all have titles that people will bitch that their holding down all the other talent and only giving the top spots to themselfs as their basically running the company with Tony Kahn. They would get the Triple H in WWE & Jeff Jarrett in TNA like backlash.
The one point I do agree on and the one thing I really knock AEW on is their women's wrestling division. The rest of AEW in terms of storylines, booking and matches have all been good to great but the women's side has been pretty awful.Their not real any storylines going on with them besides the title match of the week/month and most of the women have little to no character development and worst of all most of the matches have been lackluster at best with a ton of botches. This sadly falls mostly at the feet of Omega & Brandi as their the two that are suppose to be heading up the women's side of things behind the scenes.

AEW is the next attempt to “change the wrestling world”... WCW tried it, TNA tried it. AEW is far too much like those 2 promotions.
My biggest gripe is not building stars and bring in released WWE talent to build a promotion around. Brodie Lee is great, but belongs nowhere near a championship match already. You have all of these “homegrown” talents doing squat.
The top 2 championship matches tonight feature ex-WWE talent. Not to mention the expectations that 2-3 more ex-WWE guys may be debuting tonight. Fingers crossed that the ladder match winner will be a step in a new direction for AEW.

I can understand the gripe for Brodie getting a title shot so quickly though. But just because certain guys are “homegrown” doesn’t mean they should be trust into the spotlight immediately. It’s only been one year for the company. MJF and Sammy are both being built into current and future stars, I don’t know how that could be argued. Then you have Moxley, Cody, Omega, Hangman, Bucks, and Jericho as like the core main eventers and stars, and whether they’re ex-WWE, ex-ROH, ex-whatever it doesn’t matter. That’s my take anyway.

AEW has changed the game. First, they become the number 2 Professional Sports Wrestling Entertainment company in the World overnight. Second, they "forced" WWE to step up their game. Third, they're just getting started, and it looks like it will only get better from here.
Here's my take on the 10 points.
1. Kenny Omega should have been the inaugural AEW World Champion. Brandi should have been the inaugural AEW Women's World Champion. The Young Bucks should have been the inaugural AEW World Tag Team Champions. They all could have had a 1, 2 or 3 month reign, and then moved forward from there. Cody being the inaugural AEW TNT Champion is the only one they got right. It's their company, and if Dusty Rhodes, Triple H, and Jeff Jarrett did it, they Elite certainly deserved to do it themselves, at least as the first set of Champions.
2. Jobbers are jobbers to a certain extent. The jobbers from the past are not the same as the jobbers of today. Yes they take the loss and enhance the Stars, but they don't have to look like complete jokes. That's saved for the Monsters in squash matches.
3. Marko Stunt is today's 1-2-3 Kid. Wait until he becomes today's Syxx and today's X-Pac, then tell us how you feel.
4. If Kenny Omega wasn't booked to be the 1st AEW World Champion, then Chris Jericho is the perfect choice to be Le Champion. If the Elite built the company from the ground up, then Jericho carried it up to the next level. When Tony Kahn becomes AEW Champion, then we'll revisit this.
5. The AEW TNT Championship Title is a better name than the AEW Television Championship Title. Using "Television" would not have been original. I think the TNT Championship should only be defended on Dynamite, but not necessarily on a weekly basis. AEW should create the AEW YouTube Championship Title next, exclusively for AEW Dark.
6. You're saying that the AEW Women's division lacks Star power. You also said the Men's Main Event scene is full of former WWE talent. Well, what exactly do you want?? Homegrown AEW Men's division with former WWE Divas??
7. The Win - Loss record is just a nice little featured stat. It doesn't matter what it is, but it is cool to see. When a winner finally loses, and / or when a loser finally wins, it will add that much more to the story being portrayed.
8. The Rankings are useful, but could have been used better. I had an idea a few years back of a ranking system for the WWE based on fan votes right after a pay per view. On the first TV show after a pay per view, the top vote getter would face the 8th highest vote getter. The rest would be 2nd vs. 7th, 3rd vs. 6th, and 4th vs. 5th. The following week, the winner of the 1st vs. 8th match faces the winner of the 4th vs. 5th match, and you get the rest. This gives the fans what they "want", and make booking easier, as for as World, Women's World, and World Tag Team Championship Title matches go. The Championship Title matches should only take place on the pay per views, and now with the TNT Championship, they can.
9. The Tag Team division issue might be the only issue I fully agree with. Kenny Omega should have been the 1st AEW Champion, and Adam Page should have won the AEW Dynamite Diamond Ring. Omega and Page should not have even been in th Tag Team division. Make shift Tag Teams is one thing The Young Bucks should have kept away from AEW. It is what it is.
10. As far as sports feel, you can only do so much to give legitimacy to a scripted show. If they fixed the ranking system, changed it to a seeding system, and basically creating monthly tournaments, you'd get the feel you're looking for.
Bonus. When you complain about the referees, you have reached the lowest point you could reach for.
And that's the bottom line, if you smell, cause Stone Cold and what The Rock said so, is cooking.

Are you insinuating that WWE has actually stepped up their game? Because I don’t think they have. Look at the WWE before and after the debut of AEW on TNT. Smackdown's move to FOX was a smart business decision, yes. However, NXT moving to USA on Wednesday was a direct result of Dynamite. The WWE saw what was happening, and "sent the pawns in first". All of a sudden, NXT is not just a developmental brand on the Network, but now it's the 3rd WWE brand on national TV. NXT defeating Raw and Smackdown convincingly at Survivor Series isn't just a storyline. That's Vince's way of slowly letting go, and trying to give the yellow brand credibility. The simple fact that the WWE acknowledges AEW shows you they're aware that there's serious competition again, and they need NXT to appear as viable competition against the Jacksonville Wrestling Federation. They don't want NXT to be the show you watch when Dynamite is on a commercial break. Otherwise, the Wednesday Night War could have been Dynamite vs. Main Event and 205 Live back to back.

I guess they’ve stepped up so much so that they’ve lost in the ratings every week except like, 3 or 4 times?
I’m thinking about it in terms of the quality of the product, and more so Raw and SmackDown. It’s the same ‘ol same ‘ol. AEW isn’t ratings competition for Raw or SmackDown nor on the same night, so they don’t really have a reason to “be better” or anything like that.

I want AEW to succeed and I also think voicesinmyhead is making some legitimate points. I do want to acknowledge that this pandemic has thrown everything off. Tony Khan has had to book on the fly with a skeleton crew; obviously where we are at currently isn't exactly the plan they had in place in January. I have to give the company credit for making the most with no fans; they are doing a better job than WWE, Impact, ROH and MLW to name a few. To their credit they've nixed stuff like the Nightmare Collective immediately, they are using Legends the right way by bringing back the concept of a "manager" (e.g. Jake, Arn, Taz), and offering a variety of entertainment from death matches to the bubbly bunch. But with the state of the world right now, it's highlighting a lot more bad with this company: - waiting around for spots - everyone does a suicide dive - lack of female star power - nonsensical rankings - detrimental win-loss records - the jobbers' over-offense - Not elevating the world title as it should be I honestly feel they should have kept the belt on Jericho for a good year; build up young babyface stars like Darby, Jungle Boy, Luchasauraus to feud and lose to Jericho THEN give Mox the win while building up heel stars like Lance and MJF to be his feuds. It would give more prestige/credibility to the title. I don't know if the plan was for Mox to lose it quickly back to Jericho before the pandemic struck, but him being stuck with the belt at home and then in a rushed feud with Brodie Lee who just got kicked out of WWE? It feels like booking on the fly. So I do think they've made some rash choices with their storylines, but again, I think the lack of crowds (for reaction to help booking) and lack of talent available is hurting their overall product.

First, it is not difficult to become the #2 company in the US when your only other competition for that spot is Impact and ROH. Impact destroyed its own reputation years ago, and AEW poached all of ROH's talent and draws and left them high and dry. Also I wouldn't be so quick to say that AEW is the #2 company is the WORLD. NJPW is way bigger in Japan than AEW is here. That is a fact. Second, I don't believe that they have forced WWE to step up their game because they haven't. Their product has not gotten any better since AEW first aired in October. NXT is still great and was great before, but the main product is still hot garbage. Third, AEW's product has not been improving with time. With more time they have shown more flaws. As for my ten points, we agree on more than you think. You said you really only agree with my ninth point, but you started out with agreeing with what I said about Omega and the Bucks. And you also stated the rankings could be used better. What we are far apart on is Mark Stunt, the women's division, and the win-loss record. To say that Marko Stunt is the next 1-2-3 Kid is the biggest insult to Sean Waltman I have ever heard. That is painful to the ears. In regards to the women's division, you do not need ex-WWE wrestlers for starpower and talent. They have been on air since October. None of their female wrestlers are "over" or becoming stars. You do not need years to make a star. If you believe they need more time than you do not understand how to make a star. Lastly, the slogan of AEW is that wins and loses matter. You said, and I quote, "The Win - Loss record is just a nice little featured stat. It doesn't matter what it is." That is completely counter-productive of their entire product.
