I'm curious to see how things play out with Paul in AEW. It definitely came as a surprise since it seemed he was a WWE lifer at this point in his career. I'm surprised WWE didn't do everything in their power to resign him since he is a notable figure in the industry and to an extent pop culture as well, while still being able to work the odd match throughout the year.
AEW's handling of established wrestlers/legends has been really good so far, working as a means to elevate their homegrown crop of talent so I'd imagine any in-ring action featuring Paul will also work to get somebody else over similar to how they've been booking Sting and Darby Allen.

Paul Wight is a tremendous acquisition by AEW and well known to the lapse/Casual fan. With WWE losing some big names from the Attitude Era what talent does the WWE have now who could put over the new faces and make you believe this guy is for real? I haven't watched WWE since 2004 when the product started to move into another direction which was watered down from the Attitude Era so I'm excited AEW was formed with plenty of money at its disposal to take the fight to WWE.

Too bad Dan can't lock this one too. I guess this thread is full of self-aware posts...
Interested to see if they have Wight do an angle next week or if they're just going to have him come out to commentate a match.

I've taken care of that 😉. I'm not sure what they're gonna have planned. Given that it's also the go home Show and the Shaq match they're gonna be tight on time, so I could see him coming out to do commentary rather than an in ring speech.

They love long term storytelling, so I think there are plenty of ways that you can plant a seed for the almost inevitable match with Shaq without being heavy handed and running a full-on angle. Honestly the best part of AEW for me is that I'm genuinely content to sit back and watch the booking play out instead of the armchair quarterbacking that I find it so easy to do with other programs. It's fun to sit back and let the talent tell their story.
