I only buy Basics these days for one of two reasons:
1- Using for a headswap
2- It’s an attire that Mattel didn’t make in Elite form (ex: Seth’s Thanos and Monday Night Messiah attire)

I only collect HBK as far as basics go.

I still like the basics.Especially now that they are putting Legends in the line again. That new Flair/Giant 2pack is pretty nice.

They're fine. I prefer Elites, but I have no issues picking up basics if it's an attire I really like or a hole I want to fill in my collection that either isn't available in Elite form or the Elite is out of the price range I'm comfortable with.

A cheaper figure from an era that is gone. What was once a nice introduction for kids with little to no choking hazards was made unsustainable at the $10 price point retailers wanted by [insert economic rant here] so it was gutted to keep a $10 product on shelves, now no longer child or collector friendly, with less play ability, movement, and detail
In short, basics went from a nice sub-par line to a waste of space, and they don’t even make many rookie figures as basics anymore. That’s how far it has fallen

Head swaps, before the change in articulation, I bought them all the time mostly for my kids and first time in the lines, and head and arm swaps. Funny thing is I use to know who was in what line up, and who was getting a debut figure in the basic series, and now I could care less, if a new wwe.com release album comes out, I just scroll as fast as I can through basics. I saw a Austin Theory on the pegs today, looked at it an thought to myself, hope we get an elite soon

Although I will buy a few women’s figures, mostly if they don’t have an elite yet

I still have plenty of basics from before the Corey Graves wave, when the articulation was still good. I like some of those better than Elites. But I’ve bought very few since then. I think the last ones I bought were the JJ Dillon BAF wave. They’re just awkward, they stand weird, I don’t care for them. They have their place, just not for me.

Up until 2015 they were indispensable. Now I only buy them when it is someone like Ariya Daivari who I can essentially guarantee won't have a Elite. The cut in articulation and the overall cheapening of the line ruined it for me. I only consistently buy Jeff Hardy basics for my Jeff Hardy all collection.

Very little. I have Sid, suited Flair, heel Sarge and a few others I don’t want no figure for. The lack of standing ability is my main gripe. Widen the legs a tad and they’d be ok.

Head swaps.
I'm always bummed when an attire that should have been an Elite is used on a basic figure. HBK in those red candy-striped tights, Rick Rude's Hasbro attire, Sid Justice in blue trunks, etc., are all better suited to a more collector-oriented line.

Nothing unless they have a BAF I want in a series.

wrestling toys for children that can get beat up and parents can afford to buy 2 for every 1 elite so a better value
but as far as wrestling toys, they have dropped in quality big time since the original inception.

The only way I buy basics is if it’s someone I really want before/if the elite version comes out like keith lee, tegan nox, Toni storm, and Dakota kai and with the dijakovic I ordered recently I’m pretty sure it’s unfortunately the only figure we’ll get of him in that form before they make t-bar instead which I have 0 interest in.

Headswaps and certain suit attires is the only reason I buy basics.

They were good until they changed them so they basically have no articulation and the chest/arms seem to have a difference in paint sometimes. I still get most of the women & FTITL figures of those I think will take a long time to get an elite if ever, especially NXT. I also get main guys if it's a cool attire that didn't get made in elite form either. In the past year I've picked up Dakota, Nox, Storm, Yim, Carillo, Zelina, Lita/Trish, Carmella, Lana, Nese, Styles Chase probably more.

I have no use. I headswapped sid and it was great. Then I swapped ddp and it was bad because of the neck. Now I just don’t trust it.
....oh, I do like some of the suited ones like M$M.

They’re also the figs I used to introduce my son to wrestling figs until he was like “I want elites” even tho all he did was bang them together and not really take advantage of the added articulation and also lose all of the accessories that they came with.
