Can the Elite accessories be used for a basic. For example could I use a leather jacket and tartan skirt from a Ronda Rousey Ultimate on say a Ronda Rousey 105 basic to recreate her Wrestlemania 35 attire? Would it fit?

Would it fit? you’d be able to get the skirt and vest part of the jacket, but the arms are molded and swap out. The basic arms won’t swap out like the UE that’s made to do it.

I like basics , prefer elites of course but if there's an attire in only basic form I still would get it

I mostly buy them when there is no Elite alternative for a particular person, or when I just really like the paint scheme on one that doesn't have an Elite equivalent. I also really like suited figures for some reason (so many options to pop on different heads), and a lot of those come in basic form only. I don't like the limited articulation and stiffness of the current basics, but it doesn't bother me if it is a figure of a manager or suited figure.

They are my collection. Some of the very best figures Mattel have done are basics. People crap on them but I’ve got basics from the ‘golden years of basics’ that have wonky legs, different sized legs, uneven feet and in the case of pretty much every chaps HBK they mostly have bowed legs.
Articulation wise they don’t bother me, the drop in attention to detail and skipping details all together is more cause for concern for me. The new Kane is a good example. Lack of silver studs and no see through parts on his legs. Just why??!!

I’m surprised no ones mentioned it because people used to say it a lot, that some basics depict a torso or physique better. I don’t mind, but tons of people complain about the HBK/Bryan/AJ styles torso being too small and the basics look more life like without the crunch and such. Tensai was another one because the elite had biker shorts/boxer briefs and the basic had the trunks

Head swaps. It's all about the head swaps.

Useless.... They used to be good for arm swaps, but now the only thing you could do is a headswap. It’s really a waste of money for me so I don’t buy them unless I really need the scan.

I think he's the biggest one that benefits from the basic torso.

I generally only buy Basics if I am unsure if that wrestler will get an Elite figure made of them (Lars, Daivari, Nese, Gulak, Kai, Nox, etc.). I jumped the gun on so many in the past by buying a basic first only to have a better Elite version later on.

The basics were much better back in the day, now they are like statues without as much detail.

Until series 78, women's basics were half-price elites and I have been gradually collecting them all. Otherwise, I will avoid most basics unless the wrestler lacks an elite (eg Chelsea Green, Mike Bennett) or is a suited figure.

They used to be a reasonable alternative to figures that weren’t released as Elites. The leg articulation was pretty rough, but there are some (Mr. Perfect, Swagger, RVD) that were better aesthetically than their Elite counterparts. They also used to be pretty great for suited figures.
Now, they’re overpriced crap. Aside from the crappy scaled back articulation, the deco is often pretty weak too. One of the worst series of wrestling figures I’ve ever seen was Basic 88. They look like a bunch of bootlegs.
The last Basic I bought was the Wrestlemania cart series Andre, which was clearanced to 5 dollars. Aside from the amazing head the rest of the figure is AWFUL. There’s a reason they warmed hard for months, then disappeared overnight when they were clearanced.

Basic means that they’re basic to me.
Pros: Headscans/head sculpts and sometimes elbow/knee pads. If a wrestler only has a basic figure and no elite/ultimate edition at all, you can easily convert it into an elite using said parts above
Cons: Literally everything besides the listed parts in the pros listed above

I'll grab them when I think a character won't get an Elite or won't for long time, such as Tegan Nox/Toni Storm

I collect to display loose. I put them on a shelf and they look pretty.
Because of this, I enjoy the basics. They're great in the case of wrestlers who we either haven't or won't get elites of. In other cases, where the Elite figure was super rare and I couldn't get my hands on it, a basic is the only shot I have at that person. In yet other cases, the basic is a fill-in until the Elite comes out or until I can save up to get the Elite. And in still other cases, I don't care enough about a person or a look to get anything but a basic.
Oh, and as others have stated - They're awesome for headswaps and suited customs.
A great example of the versatility of basics in my collection is my Riott Squad. All three Riott Squad members on my shelf are basics.
Sarah Logan - Only ever made in basic Liv Morgan - Couldn't begin to find or afford the elite Ruby Riott - Both of the above. I couldn't get the Elite and the basic is the only Ruby from the Main Roster.
If it weren't for basics, I wouldn't have any of those ladies!
Other awesome basics in my collection are Sonya Deville, MNM Seth, FFH Bray (Still the best one we have, IMHO), The Trish/Lita Battle Pack, Wrestling Attire Lana, The Shield, and all of the early women's basics.
Have basics gone down in quality in the past few years? Absolutely. I'm frustrated with the scale issues and the lack of detail is annoying. But I don't think I'll ever be "Elite or bust". If there's a figure I want, I'd rather have a basic than nothing at all.
Oh, and for the record, the most recent basic I bought was the Showdown MNM Seth, loose on secondary. That's such an awesome figure. Glad to finally get it.
