At the end of the day aesthetically these are supposed to fit in with hasbros. They were marketed from day 1 as “a love letter to 90s wrestling figure fans” meaning hasbro - he wasn’t making reference to bend ems, galoobs or toy biz Other than having a passing resemblance and the original hasbro designer who seemingly had very little interest in the line past it being a day job (just look at the interview with him from a couple of years ago) these imo will not fit in with hasbros. Simple as that, he has missed the mark with them this is key - Zombie went out of his way to secure Rudat to make the designs, but Rudat himself has said on a number of occasions that his WWF Hasbro work was not his interest, hell he created GI Joe and was fully invested in wanting GI Joe to succeed as a figure line. making cartoonish looking over-the-top wrestling characters was far away from where he saw his personal interests lie, it literally was "just a job" and now, clearly he's doing this because (I assume he is at least receiving some income prior to these things actually shipping??) he's getting paid for designing what the figures would look like
now.... I've already pre-ordered Hebner, Sabu and Bravo because I want those figures. though I have absolutely no interest in supporting two jobbers who lucked out on a podcast and have financial interests in Series 1 (and subsequent lines) succeeding but I know others will buy a Myers or Cardona figure because that's what they're into.
personally, I just wish ZST would focus his time on delivering what people paid for before taking more pre-orders for another series of figures that no-one will have in hand for at least 12 months, if not longer! Hell, Danhausen may be retired by the time some kid holds his ZST figure at this rate

This is definitely a "multiple things can be true" scenario. It's 100% true that there are a lot of questions about Zombie's line and his approach to said line that anyone and everyone has a right to bring up and discuss. It's also 100% true that there are people who have biases against the line because of Zombie/Major Pod/etc. (not saying those are founded or unfounded) and they're judging things based on said biases.

It's also 100% true that there are people who have biases against the line because of Zombie/Major Pod/etc. (not saying those are founded or unfounded) and they're judging things based on said biases. I think that's a contributing factor, spot on mate. If you don't like Cardona & Myers for your own personal reason, whatever that may be, then a line so heavily involving them isn't gonna be up your street. I think Zombie is going all out to market it, but when you have two of the biggest influencers in the wrestling figure business, lets be honest, it markets for you. His clout with the famous ones can put you off completely by his, or their attitude. I'm personally a fan, but I'm not a diehard "buy everything Major Pod related" fan. To me it's all fun in collecting, and I like to find things for myself and work on getting things seemingly harder to procure. This is not a knock, but I'd imagine at this point people are lining up with things they're offering them. That's fine, collect in your own way. It can be a bit overbearing at times listening to them market this and that, but hell, they're a brand now themselves so it's all good. I like Zombie's drive, but his attitude towards his product sucks. Its a "No one could do this better" attitude and I'm sorry but as I'm now saying for the 20th time, there's no proof because no ones got them yet. If he'd stop overselling products for the rest of the year before his first wave is out, I'd be a bit kinder to him. That as a business model sucks. Give me all your money and I'll continue taking it.

I was speaking of WWE in regards to those allegations. One of the top things Zombie's detractors constantly bring up here, is he was rude or mean and they morally can't support him. That's fine if you honestly believe in those morals, but it's completely hypocritical to continue to happily buy WWE products which has done far worse and actually pretend like you're standing up for something. What it boils down for me, is consistency with your views and critiques. I'm not going to point to specific examples as it will lead to more drama, but there are critiques for Zombie's figures that can apply to Chella's. But we don't see those critiques in the Chella thread from the same people who can't wait to come over and bash Zombie. I'm just asking to bring that same energy for both lines if you're going to be super critical. Dude it’s 2021 and the retros have a huge fanbase and it’s ok for people to prefer one or the other, the positives and negatives, that’s opinions and everyone is entitled to it. You do understand that ZST has taken the low road a number of times and knocked Chella, regardless of his approach and there’s, he should conduct himself better, how he comes across and is perceived is all his own doing and if you are the face of a brand any negative impact he himself causes reflects his business, truthfully his product is ok to me, but he has made a number to comments that are uncalled for, not to forget his podcast friends using their platform to knock Chella product to help the ZST line (until recently). Chella has taken the high road every time, have never talked bad about ZST or acknowledge him for that matter. Their interaction alone with fans is something to be admired. My point is it’s healthy competition and it is what it is. When ZST puts out a product a lot of opinions can maybe changed but until then the dude is in no position to talk down any product. He just comes across as jealous that he is being out worked and if he can’t handle what Chella is bringing, this retro market is going to kick into high gear once Mattel steps in. Attachment Deleted

Getting this back on track to the actual FIGURES.
Look at Danhausen's arms -- Zombie either hasn't heard or doesn't care about the feedback about the really bad proportions on these. Big mistake if you ask me since otherwise, it looks like a pretty decent figure...

Rad looking figure.
Doesn’t not fit in with Hasbros AT ALL though. Oof.

Danhausen looks to be a hybrid of Hasbros, Jacks BCA (big show vibes with those arms) and WCW toy biz.

Exactly -- I think Zombie would be much better off just calling these a separate figure line. If he didn't compare them to Hasbros -- or say they fit in with Hasbros -- I think people would be a lot more positive about it

so, despite Series 1 being nowhere near in hands, he's already taking pre-orders for Series 2.... outstanding business model there Zombie!! didn't he say he wasn't taking orders for follow-up lines until Series 1 were actually in the hands of buyers?? He fast-tracked one figure to pre-order to be able to get Danhausen royalties quicker after suffering a broken tibia and fibia and occurring a ton of medical bills. Nice snark though. This thread is quickly devolving into a thread of a bunch of people yapping their gums incessantly about a product they never intend to buy. Getting sad at this point.

All in on Mattel’s, you can see with Bill and Steve over the retro line now how different this is going to be from the first outing. Beyond excited to see what Mattel brings going forward.

I think they’ve learnt from their mistakes and taken feedback from all collectors . Just hope they manage to deliver for longer more going forward .

I just find it funny that Mattel's long-awaited return to the Retro market looks like they will have "official" WWE figures in collector's hands before Heels & Faces figures see the light of day....
and yeah, I'll probably be buying 2 sets to keep one MOC and have one loose for my kids to play with

Am I the only one let down that since he's not giving people the old "Hasbro look", why isn't he just doing 7" figures? Seems almost like a waste of these great signings for a product meant to be nostalgic, but actually isn't. I'm glad Chella offers both styles.
