The problem is for every one of those there is some random magic 8 ball, artsy Uno, or awful He-man sculpture. It seems like almost all their released are cringe artist colabs. Even for the cooler items, the price points just seem unjustifiably high to me. I love kitsch and novelty items and will gladly pay a premium. Glow in the dark anything? Sign me up. But from what they've released so far, it seems like they're charging 150, 200% markups for what amounts to swapping the plastic color they're using. It just seems like a straight up cash grab. It is... and people will still do it. FOMO is sooooo high in the collector community and companies are thriving on it. |

Wasn't this what Matty Collector's was? How will this be different? Matty collector had items in stock. Pre orders for items will be sold out in seconds here and never be in stock or reordered. So you're saying this will be worse? |

I used Matty Collector a lot back in the day - mainly for DC Universe figures, and for the most part it was not a bad thing. Preorders may have sold out fast - and by fast back then I mean within hours, not minutes - but if you were able to be on when the preorders went live - you were good.
I seem to remember the WWE stuff lasting for days if not longer when they were put up. WWE was certainly not a priority for that site, like the DC stuff was.

It's hard to even call it FOMO when you know that trying to get the items later will mean a huge markup from secondary sellers. At that point you're betting your own interest vs. the price difference between the drop and aftermarket.
I mean, Mattel Creations doesn't seem that bad from what I've seen. The Shogun Warriors Skeletor was on there an accessible amount of time. I've certainly seen much worse in recent years. (Try hitting a Mondo poster print/soundtrack drop for a popular movie. I feel so bad for the shoe collectors, too.)

All signs point to yes. I remember back in 2012, a Poison Ivy figure sold out immediately on Matty Collector and I have never seen that figure for anything under $50 since then. |

Here are my questions:
1. Why do we need this now?
2. Will this be better than Matty Collector?
3. Will it improve on the mistakes of Matty Collector?
4. Will there be incentives to buying into this program, ie free shipping bonuses or discounts?
5. Will the products actually be available to order?

i had zero problems getting any of the mattycollector exclusives. and thank the figure gods for that.
that being said, even if this is just a move to have the store exclusive figures like Kama, Warlord, etc. available on Mattel Creations i will be happy
