I'm trying to abstain from being too upset. Most of the other figures I've wanted lately have eventually been available for retail. Xpac fan takeover & Vader Legends 10 both come to mind as figures I was worried about getting but it all turned out okay, it just took time. If I can just get the UE Hogan from Amazon and all the Legends figures I want from Target for retail price, I'll be extremely happy and my faith will be restored. I just can't imagine that they don't want our money lol.

Steve/Bill knows the collectors get short changed on these online exclusives. Any exclusive like Slaughter/Hogan etc should be up for atleast an hour . They know these things are gonna sale out fast when you put up 100-300 figures. So why not just give everybody an hour and let them buy as many as they want? Hell, if you sale 5-10k figs, make what sold and you’ll make a killing, you’re literally losing yourself money when you make 300 slaughters that sale out in 3 min and walk away with $13,500 when you could’ve put them up for an hour and say you sale 5-10k thats $450k tops. I’ll never believe the were more than 500 slaughters that went up for pre order, Mattel are just losing money on things like this. There is no way that they only made 300 Slaughters. Ringside Exclusives are around 3000 figures. The figure was in demand because it's an exclusive and people feel like they have to have everything, they made a chase so most people bought 2, and there were 2 collecting groups going after it. It sold out, that's what happened. Mattel didn't produce just 300 figures. It's not even worth the cost of making a new mold to make that few figures. I was being sarcastic when I said 100-300. I know they made more, but it wasn’t that many.

Plus, the factories making these figures have a minimum order quantity they require in order to be made. The MOQ varies by toyline and is confidential information, but its usually way more than 300 and at the same time, 10,000 units of a figure made even for a kids toyline with a major movie promoting it is considered overproduced.

No offense to Action Figure Attack, but these false start announcements are very frustrating. How can we trust him anymore at this point? It's fairly obvious that the preorder issues with Legends are on Target's end, not Mattel's. Target isn't the one giving out false preorder dates.

This is probably what happened. Target doesn’t know what they’re doing. Exactly. It's always an issue when pre-ordering anything from Target. I've ordered about ordered about 40 items from Target pre-orders within the past couple of weeks across a ton of lines from Funko to multiple Hasbro properties to Mattel's Jurassic Park line. Every single of them were available when they were supposed to be. Others sold out too fast and I missed them, but they were still there. I don't know why we keep using the "oh, it must be Target's problem" rationale. Maybe, just maybe, the issue is 100% in Mattel's court. This happens time and time again, and from the WWE brand is the only one I've seen when pre-releases are off not just by hours but entire days.

Again, I am so grateful to Mattel for making these figures and for Steve and company to do their very best to help us ... so I am not picking on them ... I also know Steve is not only trying to manage their product but also trying to help decipher what the buyers are doing with kit hands to not piss them off but at the same time help us get answers.
I also don't want to squabble with fellow board members or moderators over whether Harley Race was an abnormal situation several years ago with no resolution since or if Brutus the Barber Beefcake is considered new - which is irrelevant since he is only available on line and I can't get it ... or if I suffer from a lack of patience ... when the POINT is that I have been patient ... I do look on line ... I do go to stores that I can when I can ... and value this board for help. Many of you are incredibly helpful. For those who mock us I am surprised you are defending scalper prices and not having more compassion to the many collectors who are frustrated by the game of our passion. Or maybe you are scalpers??? MMMMMMM
Since I originally posted here I received an e-mail from Walmart that the Piper figure was available again. I immediately clicked on the link and it was gone.
Again, I wonder if Mattel did their concept art on a wwe Legend 2 years out. WWE and Mattel strikes up a contingency deal with the proposed legend that if (hypothetical) 5,000 figures sell we make the figure and the legend gets x-amount and becomes more relevant again. If it is 5 to 10 thousand figures they get more ... if it is 10 to 15 thousand more ... etc ... this is all transparent to Mattel, WWE and the Legend. This gives them a window to achieve the sales - and plenty of time to execute then 2 years. How is that for patience. Again, if they did something like that ... all of us would be marketing the creation of that particular figure.

I used to be in the “It’s not Mattel” camp myself but I’ve since changed up. It’s 100% their fault, even if it’s Targets fault. They can choose who their retailers are and I understand Target is a MAJOR distributor. But as a collector, I know it’s not my fault. And if Mattel chooses to do business with a company who’s continuously mismanaged their product, then it’s their fault by DEFAULT. Period.

I can Preorder with incredible ease all my Hasbro Star Wars Black Series and Funko Pops through the Target app. Video Games as well. For some reason, Mattel and Target have a hang up, and I don’t blame the red circle because they are doing fine with other similar items for collectors.

If I tell you the wrong info on something and then you believe it, is it your fault for believing it? Yes because I don't trust you and I have no reason to trust you. Well, that's a flimsy argument. So you're saying it's Mattel's fault that Target gave them bad info? Are you saying that Mattel shouldn't trust Target? "Target gave Mattel bad info but it's Mattel's fault the info was wrong." It's obvious you hate Mattel and are looking for any reason you can to complain.

I dislike how they handle these announcements.

Oh wait, you don't have one. Innocent until proven guilty my guy, and until Mattel comes out and owns up to it you can't blame them.
