The key word is exclusive. If you’re gonna mass produce it or do an open pre-order then it’s no longer a SDCC exclusive. It’s just another figure. Then what’s the point? Why even have a figure that’s supposed to be an exclusive if you’re not gonna make it a limited exclusive?

I mean, I'll take any of them. Straight-up re-release is great for those who missed him before (as in me), but I'd still be very interested with new deco, new packaging, new accessories.

I'm not paying $30 for a Sgt. Slaughter Ultimate given I have two prior elites of him and a basic, and will also be buying the upcoming Iraqi elite version.

An open preorder wouldn't work because people would complain that it takes too long to produce.
People are going to complain no matter what.

This would solve alot of problems. Really no idea why they don't do something like this on every pre order... The issue with a straight 24 hour pre-order, is production lead times. To do a 24 hour window where everyone can order whatever they want, that would mean Mattel can’t produce the figure until after the order period is closed. That would mean it would likely be 6 months or more before we have the product in hand. I like what Hasbro did last year with their PulseCon exclusives. They produced a limited quantity for the con. People that were able to order, got their stuff within like a month or so because it was already produced. Then, the next day, they opened up a 24 or 48 preorder window like is being suggested. So for example, I was able to get the Ghostbusters exclusive on the first go and got the set really quick. I got the Hellfire Club and the Star Wars sets on the 2nd chance and got them like a year later. Same with Mezco’s Vapor figure. Myself and many others got the figure on the initial offering. We all have the figure now and are posting photos and Mezco is getting good looks. The people that missed out were able to get on an open preorder and they’ll have the figure next year. Same with NECA and their Target Turtles. I can’t find them anywhere near me. I order when when they do their 10 day preorder windows. I like knowing I’ll get the figures, but I also know it’s probably gonna be a year before I see them. I like the open preorder idea, but I do think there should be a first round of stock. Also, if you are on the fence about a preorder, you could see reviews of the figures and see what you like or don’t like before you put in an order. Rumor is that it’s not shopping until January regardless. |

Nothing should be re-released. Either buy it second hand or move on. That's the whole point of exclusives/convention exclusives.
I didn't get a Slim Jim Macho in 2019, didn't get a Mr. T last year and I didn't come on the internet crying about it. We all knew the date and time.

If everyone got one it wouldn't be limited. Sure I want them to make another UE Slaughter but in a different attire. Yes I wanted to Con figure, but I missed it so unless I decide to pay scalpers (which I won’t) the Con figure just isn’t going to be in my collection. It was the same thing a few years back when they rereleased the SDCC Undertaker in the DM line. Sure they eyes were closed on that one, but to me that figure was still too close to the SDCC one and felt it shouldn’t have been made. Make another Sarge in a different attire colors fine, but it certainly shouldn’t be in the SDCC paint deco. |

This may get me a lot of heat, and I am not intending for it to be mean, but since they are making the Iraqi Sarge elite, I honestly dont care if they make another Sarge.

I didn’t get one, and I’m not too happy about it, but Sarge should absolutely not be rereleased. It would be insulting to, A.) those that did manage to get one, B.) those that have since paid scalper prices because they missed out.
It’s time to leave it be.

That thread got too big for my to keep up with. When I checked out, I saw it say January, but at this point I’ve seen so many of these dates be incorrect from every company. I just think about it in terms of did I get an order in or not |
