We have an entire thread on this already, most firmly expressing either their disinterest or lack of confidence in this project. Thats not good enough. Its SDCC time...Thats when all the people nobody has ever heard of come out on here and tell you how much they hate mattel, collecting, target, pre-orders, kittens and chocolate cake Like any of us really give a .

I will back it within the final week, most likely. Too much other stuff to consider in the weeks ahead to make this my number one priority. I absolutely would have backed it right away had I not been charged until the end. Admittedly, that soured me on the project just a bit. Am I confident that there will be this massive surge at the last minute? Depends on where we’re at by then. If we’re not past 3,500 backers in the last few days, I’d say no. Since there is no middle or undecided option in the poll, I’ll lean towards no, but again it’s too soon to write it off completely. I want to be optimistic and I want to see the potential in this and future projects, but I have little to no faith in my fellow collectors lol.

Not very confident but hopeful. If it's close or looks on its way to being funded I hope they leave it up a bit longer to get the number of backers needed

Yeah I think it would have more backing right now if the cost wasn’t so high and/or upfront.

I would only back it if I were confident we would unlock Doink, but I’m not confident. To me, the value absolutely requires Doink to be included. We’ll see closer to the time what number we’re at. Same here! I would back it right now if someone could guarantee Doink is included. But i dont want to pay 250+ only for Ring and Diesel. So if i back it and it arrives 5000 but not 7000 im ed ;-)

I’m in two minds. If Doink was instead of Diesel I’d be more tempted. That Doink is one of the best figures I’ve seen for a while. The detail on the soft goods jacket is unreal.
They could release that Diesel in the mainline. I can’t help but think this would have been a lot more successful with a first in the line figure like Double J.

I said yes on the vote. With Mattel thinking of a master plan getting paid in full hurts it early. With other fan funded things people can say yes and save up. I think it hits 5k but not sure if Doink will hit. It's way too early to throw the towel in. It's not even August yet.

Wrestling fans are cheap plus the way these pre orders have went leaves a bad attitude towards Mattel. Support this but good luck getting the exclusive figures that go with it (outside of what’s included). But on this board am I allowed to criticize anything? Seems like the thread gets shut down. With a forum there’s always positive and negative posts, it’s a forum that’s the whole principle sometimes Mattel needs their eyes open and although this might be a small portion of the wwe collectors don’t think AFA doesn’t gets ideas from this place it’s like a think tank sometimes.

It really needs to be hitting the full 8k for this to be genuinely worth the money, in my view…even then it could be questioned.
Looks like it’s struggling to get to 5k so the idea of backing it to only be landed with Diesel is not encouraging me to pull the trigger.
The other two big problems are the money being taken up front and the fact it’s New Gen.

No, it's too expensive for most collectors and one of the least popular eras in WWF/E history. Are there any other cases of failed action figure crowd funding projects? Back then, yes. Nostalgia is what gets it. Someone in there mid-30's probably looks back at this time with fondness. I used mid-30's as an example because everyone's favorite figure podcast guys are in that range and I'd imagine there audience is probably the same age. So they were like 9-10 years old when this was happening. I just turned 34 and you hit the nail on the head. My brother (who is 37) and I first started watching the WWF in late 1993 so we are 100% New Generation babies. I can recognize the faults and issues with that era now of course, but there is absolutely nothing that can ever take the nostalgia away from those years no matter how poorly they are looked back on from a creative/business standpoint. I was a kid exposed to this wild world of pro wrestling. At that age, it was pure magic. Some people may be nostalgic for 2007 WWE which I consider one of the worst years in the history of wrestling. And that is fine because who am I to tell somebody what era they are allowed to appreciate childhood wrestling memories from?

The colors and the silliness of it all. People call it Wrestlecrap, but at least it wasn’t stale and boring like a lot of the product today

I am also in the "wait and see" camp. I can afford it but New Gen is not my favorite era (My favorites are in my username), I don't need an Ultimate Diesel, and I really don't have space for an elite scale ring at the moment so this set would wind up in storage for the foreseeable future. If the campaign comes close to a Doink unlock, I will chip in.

They want $1.25m before giving this to anybody??
WWE isn’t on a Star Wars or Marvel level anymore; nobody has the energy for this.

I had planned to back this ring and purchase two, however, after the disaster of last week I really am contemplating my continuing support of the Mattel WWE line.
Would of loved to pre-order ANYTHING else and then top it off with THIS terrific piece. Mattel had other plans apparently. Most deflated I have been with this hobby in a very long time.

Yeah plus I feel Diesel and Doink aren’t big enough to get buys. I feel like seeing how nostalgic a lot of people are for the era and how we never get any elites from that era. A 02/03 Raw or SD with a Flashback Jeff/RVD/HBK or Rey would’ve been a great start. As someone who grew on that era and loves those stages and hates the current one. For a decent price seeing my money looking funny rn I would easily cop. I don’t collect flashbacks but were people clamoring for a New Gen Stage or Diesel or Doink UE? And even with the insane details $250 is a steep price.

Didn’t we have a thread dedicated to the discussion of the crowd funded project?
I’m confused.

I'm only backing it with the hope for Doink. Don't want the rest of the stuff and will be throwing it all up on ebay. Assuming it hits at least the 5k mark.

Back it and if you don't want all of it, sell each piece individually on Ebay. I don't see how you wouldn't end up ahead.

i really think it could go either way. it seems a lot of people are waiting until the end of the campaign to make a decision. i wouldn't be surprised if there was a last minute surge and it does get backed very late. This. Mattel’s stupid decision to take the payment instantly has made it hard to predict if there will be a massive surge of last minute backers.
