Confidence Level of the New Generation Ring getting to 5K

If it was to scale it would be enormous and probably $500 plus.

I, for one, don’t purchase undesired items in hopes that doing so will open up the door for future (hopefully more desired) items. That makes no sense. If Nike put out something you didn’t want, would you buy it and hope the next one is better, or would you go for, say, Under Armour?

I’m on board with the criticism that this isn’t a home run. It’s a ring, one which, when the skirt is on, is indistinguishable from other versions. The similar point can be made for Diesel and Doink. They’re great looking figures, but for a crowd sourced item, this isn’t anything I wouldn’t expect to already be on shelves.

I think time will tell if this will be funded. I have my doubts, but perhaps we could get something completely new in the future.

My votes:
1. The New Gen entrance with Kona Crush.
2. The Funeral Parlor with a casket and exclusive Taker. A bonus would be magnet Warrior signs for the casket.
3. The Barber Shop with an exclusive Shawn. Breakable window, of course.
4. The Event Center with an exclusive Gorilla Monsoon.
5. The locker room setup from a previous SDCC. Exclusive Michael Cole figure.
6. Boiler Room Brawl playset with exclusive Mankind.
7. RAW entrance playset with exclusive 123 Kid.
8. Throne playset with exclusive Macho King.
9. WCW entrance, ramp and ringskirts. Exclusive Flair.
10. WWF block logo entrance with exclusive Hulk.

All of these would have much less of a price point but would never make it to retail, given the decreased shelf space.

Not my first choice, but I backed it pretty much just for the entrance. I've wanted that entrance forever. I already have multiple Diesel, multiple Doink, and the original ring so those parts of the bundle could have been better. Hopefully it makes it, they learn what to do and not to do from this one, and the next one will be even better.

If doink was added from the jump I would have been in.

I hope so. I want the entrance and Doink so bad, but I can't personally justify funding it unless the Doink is guaranteed.

I was down for 2 at first, but with the pre order mess, constant distribution issues, and (IMO) poor comic con showing, I’m just salty.

What Bill and Steve also have to realize is that people like me have a certain bit of money set aside, when scalpers grab all the product, we have to pay double sometimes triple to get the product we want. So that eats away at our extra funds that would of def went to backing this project.

The problem is Mattel Creations itself. Mattel Creations doesn't inspire a lot of consumer confidence. Not to mention having to pay the money upfront.

I hope it does, solely for the sake of people that want it. Wanting it to fail just to revel in the misery would be weird and sociopathically specific.

I'm not entirely confident it will, though, and I don't think that because of anything specific as it pertains to the execution. I've seen this effort picked apart a million different ways already, and I think the grand majority of that is nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking because that's what we do. Ultimately (upupupu, "ultimate" ), I think if this fails, I believe it's largely due to the still yet-to-be-widely-recognized fact that as wrestling figure collectors, we are a niche within a niche market that does not share the mass appeal of a market like Star Wars, and this niche within a niche product doesn't even carry as widely appealing a nostalgic value to the general consumer that something like MOTU does.

It's an awesome package, especially if it gets pushed even just over the mark enough to include the Doink figure...but it's an awesome product representing one of the smaller drawing periods in the brand's history marketed toward a demographic that is significantly smaller than it's willing to reocgnize.

I hope y'all can get it, 'cause if you've got the room for it, it'll make a hell of a piece to have.
