You don’t need a “pay later” option. Literally all they needed to do was force you to back with a valid card for it to count, but not touch the money until the campaign was over and it was successfully backed. Literally exactly like Hasbro does it. This is a goofy debate. HasLab does it correctly. Mattel does not. End of conversation. So does Kickstarter, who pretty much have crowdfunding down to a science.

Literally exactly like Hasbro does it. This is a goofy debate. HasLab does it correctly. Mattel does not. End of conversation. So does Kickstarter, who pretty much have crowdfunding down to a science. Yeah, there's really no gray area here. There's a pretty established pathway to successful campaigns, and some corporate suit at Mattel decided to get cute and put their own spin on things. There's absolutely a psychology to these projects. People like to back a "winner." There's a non-insignificant number of buyers who looked at it this weekend, saw it was at 10-15%, assumed it won't get funded, and will never check back. Those same people, if they saw it at a higher number because people weren't waiting til the last minute, may have committed to buy, put in payment, and won't give it a second thought until a year from now when the item arrives. Maybe that number is 100, or 200, or 500 orders. But that number may be the difference between this campaign getting funded or not. I honestly don't see where there's debate here. Mattel shot themselves in the foot here to eek out a little extra liquidity for 30 days. The question is just whether it derails this really awesome set from being made, or if it's just a moderate inconvenience.

Should have been an 80's ring with the same level of quality
- include the "Big 4" ring skirts - include Exclusive red shirt WM1 Hulk Hogan (with Hogan 85 belt) Ultimates figure. Unlock 1 - blue cage add on Unlock 2 - Exclusive "black cat shirt" WM1 Roddy Piper Ultimates as final tier.
You would have already reached your goal.

If there are indeed 5k made, I wonder what will the resell value. Can I buy a second one and resell it later without any loss or will it fall in value? I wouldn’t mind buying a second one if I knew Doink will be included... argh! Decisions!

The question is just whether it derails this really awesome set from being made, or if it's just a moderate inconvenience. There is no other excuse. Not in terms of the value of the items offered, not the choice of items. I dare say this would already have hit 5000 backers had Mattel not been greedy with taking payments prior to the conclusion. The fact this doesn't hit every stretch goal it is 1000% on Mattel's very poor decision making. I highly doubt they'll take accountability, either.

PayPal not being an option is a killer for me. Just get the paypal debit card and use that. I prefer not to. I have other means of purchasing it (I just hate any extra hoops).

I wouldn’t mind buying a second one if I knew Doink will be included... argh! Decisions! Pretty safe bet it will go up in value just because people go nuts over the word exclusive. But the way I see it, if this gets funded, it covers Mattel’s tooling costs. They’ll then try to maximize profits off those molds. So we’ll get another ring from a different era, probably less expensive. We’ll probably get another Ultimate Diesel in better attire too.

I want Doink but I'm not paying $250 for it.
Maybe they should have thought about something cheaper as the first thing out of the gate because if this fails they probably won't do anything else.

No sure why Steve couldn’t ask us what we’d like to see in a project. Assuming gets you nowhere.

It probably wont make it to production because not enough people want it at $250 but yeah someone will spend double once released....

Don't forget -- you wouldn't even get Doink. It would need 7,000 -- but can't even hit 1,000 a week in.
Looks like Mattel won't do anything to save it -- adding more items, etc. -- too bad

Part of the way they are pushing it is the prospect of other projects in the future. It's just hard to get behind something for the idea that there may be other expensive projects in the future. Want the talk show sets? Want attitude era stage? Pay for this one and we'll talk.
I really want to like this and back it. I really do. I like the glowing stage just wish it had the F part of the logo and feels fake or off to me. I don't think I have the room to display a ring and I certainly don't care it has fake wood under the mat or other details that would never be visible if I don't do figure photography. Diesel feels meh to me. If he was like a debut look with the Jean jacket and mullet and something really different from a diesel we had seen before.... or something really out there like dok hendrix and Todd pettengill or max moon etc. Just the cheesiness of early to mid 90s wwf. This just feels like I'm ok to miss this. I wish I didn't feel that way and reading other thoughts too.

I wouldn’t mind buying a second one if I knew Doink will be included... argh! Decisions! Nothing has a better turn around value over time like wrestlers do. If somebody WAS looking to scalp something, I would say it’s pretty cut and dry that wrestlers have the best resell value over a short period of time. And they pretty much retain that value or go up as time goes on. But yea, it’s a pretty safe bet that if you were to hold onto it for a year or so, it’ll be worth a good amount of change.

It’s 17%
You get a bunch who jump on early with the hype or they’re the first to go out and get the stuff
Since then a lot of the talk has unfortunately been negative and people giving reasons why not to get it. Negativity breeds negativity
I’d be very surprised if it gets to 50% now
I think money when it’s backed and payment plan of maybe 5 x $50 or 5 x $60 including postage etc and it would’ve gone through

the more people say "no" and complain about it, the higher the chance of it not succeeding because negativity is contagious. as a community we SHOULD be supporting this and not trashing it at every turn. its ok to bring up some fair points about what we think they could or should have done. but in the end nothing is going to change it, whats done is done. so if we ever want to see anything else like this again we should be forking over the cash for this. in the end, its a pretty cool stage piece, an amazing looking ring, and a decent figure. $250 isnt THAT unreasonable for it. haslab is selling people just a giant action figure with lights n crap for WAY more Nobody should be strong armed into supporting something they don't want just incase they get something they want in the future. Especially for $250.
