I was not expecting Darby to be Punk's first challenger out of the gate but im excited if he is. I know its probably not gonna happen and maybe shouldn't happen but I would love to see Darby win the "First Dance" and make himself even a bigger star then he already is. Where’ve you heard this? Darby threw in a "best in the world" line in a promo booking himself for Chicago's Rampage event. To that extent, MJF also cut a line that harkens back to Punk's pipebomb promo. They're gonna ride this rumor to the grave for dem ratings and ticket sales lol

Sorry,I didn't hear anything. I'm just going off of Darby's best in the world line like RKMO said. I'm just hoping it more then anything, sorry for the confusion.

I loved the opening ten man tag and I'm not sure if it was the plan all along or if they just called an audible because of recent signings ("supposedly") but I loved that Hangman and the Dark Order lost. It's not time for Omega's run to end and I prefer if they just keep putting off a match with Hangman until they're ready to have him win the belt. Also I gotta give mad props to Jericho for that match. He's a gamer. I just hope Hangman doesn’t become the next Barry Windham (ironically they both have similar looks) and gets passed over and then lost in the shuffle. Once they become too comfortable with him not being a champion, he’ll constantly take a back seat to the next name coming in.

What an amazing episode!
The opener was great and the main event was CRAZY to see on TNT!

I’m guessing he’ll end up facing Omega still in some way, but I myself said they could wait with Hangman. We’ll see is US fans can be patient.

Just finished the episode now and a few immediate thoughts: - they are hyping up the possible Punk debut and I'm completely here for that! - AEW doing a really good job of keeping multiple people up and down the card feeling important - that will be huge for the Rampage debut where they can increase screen time - Omega vs Hangman feud continues and keeps us wanting that big pay off - I'm not into deathmatches or Gage but the 'world's colliding' is something AEW are doing really nicely whether with the indies (e.g. Kingston), niche wrestling (e.g. Gage) or with other major promotions (NJPW, TNA) and that creates intrigue around one off appearances

What a tremendous episode. Personally I hated the main event. The previous week’s Texas Death Match was far more my speed than the glass, light tube, pizza cutter stuff, but I suppose that’s what makes the show great. That said, I can already hear Cornette in my head. I’m pretty sure I’m going to agree with every bit of what he has to say about this match. I don’t know for sure, but I hope those tubes and the glass were gimmicked. That $#!t was flying everywhere, and putting fans at risk is the one thing that would derail AEW.
Literally EVERYTHING else that they did on the show was top notch. I’m not a Punk fan (at all), but what a great tease.
I adored the Cody/Black segment. That was probably my favorite part actually. This is a blood feud already, and it really stressed the unpredictability of the show. I live for that stuff.
Now we have a real treat, The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes…
Lots of stuff happening in this wo…BAM!!!
I felt like a kid again, grinning ear to ear.
I might be showing my age here, but every time they mention Rampage debuting I keep forgetting that they mean the show and think they are talking about Quinton Jackson. I might’ve had a strong edible though.
I’m all in on Hangman. What an ending. They’re doing this story right.
MJF is just gold, there’s no better heel. I don’t think there’s been a better actual heel in at least ten to fifteen years. When he came out with the popcorn I just lost it.
I’m no anti-WWE guy, I want them to succeed, but last night for the first time damn if I didn’t think that if AEW continues this trajectory for the long term that we could eventually see a changing of the guard. I don’t mean any time soon, but profits not withstanding, something weird seems to be going on at WWE. Maybe all of the odd moves, fired executives, and releases are just part of a changing business model, but from an outsiders perspective strange things appear to be afoot at the Circle K.

Between AEW and GCW, the last few weeks of wrestling has been some of my favorite since probably the early 2000's.

I stopped watching anything wrestling related around 2017/18 but found my way back last summer and purposefully stayed away from the internet (spoilers and smart fans) to just enjoy the ride and form my own opinions around who I like and don't. Aside from TakeOver specials I exclusively watch AEW now and it's been great to watch them grow even though I was a late joiner - last few weeks of hype I've found myself back in the forums though as the excitement takes over!

That's awesome! There was a point where I was following like 6 promotions, but due to the pandemic and the bad booking it made most places do I'm down to just AEW. I'd bail if it weren't for them. There's really small stuff I could nitpick, but I haven't been this excited about wrestling in like 20 years.

Honestly is there a better promo in the business than Miro right now? His one minute promos pack a far greater punch than any 10 minute Omega or Cody rant. The guy needs to be in the main event within the next year.

I mean, if anything, Miro is the poster boy for why scripted promos need to cease immediately.

I still think Taz & Eddie are better though.

Guy has always shown flashes of his brilliance on the mic and in the ring despite being heavily scripted. It’s crazy to think he was never given a sustained push towards the top of the card.

Eddie I agree is at the top, but I feel Miro has quickly cemented himself right there with him. Either way it’s great seeing so many great talkers in one promotion.

If flair wants the money he may just show up as most likely he needs the money.

Turning him heel when Rusev Day was still over and proceeding to do nothing with him post-heel turn is a decision that will forever boggle my mind. My only explanation is it was done out of spite lol
