Well it sucks but you have to look at it from Mattel's perspective. That's all, end of story. Don't let Whataboutism run amuck or you'll drive yourself mad.

Tbh all Iβve ever wanted was a Mattel version of the attire below and the tiger stripe one coming out.  This is exactly the RVD attire they should have made π₯ |

Imperial Japanese flag. Reigned in Japan during WWII and treated the Japanese and surrounding areas like Nazi's treated the Jews during the Holocaust.Β This problem to my knowledge was first brought up by LesnarTime on Instagram, who is from South Korea. If you understand Asian culture, the rising sun flag is quite offensive to people throughout a lot of Asian cultures-- Most notably, in South Korea. To some, it resembles something very close to the Nazi flag here in the US.Β I'm not for canceling the figure but this was his perspective.Β Also certain regions and cultures of China where Mattel's figures are made. There's potential that people working in the factories' making these figures families were directly effected by the Imperial Japan reign. The ignorance being displayed on social media over this I've seen so far just really shows the lack of empathy the world has these days. Yeah it would be like making a Austin or Freebird figure with the Confederate Flag. For a lot of people thatβs something they probably donβt want to see or be reminded of when they try to enjoy their figures |

Do we think Snuka was actually swinging from tree to tree in the jungle? Or that Savage was actual royalty? OMG Kane wasn't actually burned?
Piper wasn't Scottish? Muhammad Hassan wasn't a Muslim? Was Brutus actually a Barber? Or the Mountie an actual Mountie? Was Akeem even black? Did Tugboat have a maritime background?
If I ever find out Undertaker isn't really dead, I'm gonna be so angry!

I am most interested by how this design made it through so many steps and processes, and all of the sudden it was deemed problematic a month before it gets released. Especially when we are considering all of the manufacturing and planning of figures in Asian countries. This figure had to be in the works for close to a year. Why was it just caught?!
ENDLESS RVD attires they could've chosen from, and they had to choose this one.

To answer your above question, people screaming βCancel culture!β about not getting a figure is people getting bent out of shape. And are you comparing cartoon style gimmicks to people having stereotypical gimmicks based on other races? The Undertaker being dead is not the same as an Italian guy playing a Native American. |

Iβm still hoping this is all rumor. I mean, we are only going off of an Instagram page and one other collector shop who Iβve heard others having issues with in the past about ordering. Iβm hoping out hope until something official from ringside or Mattel comes out. Considering how closely ringside works with Mattel, just seems odd to me they werenβt the ones who broke the news.

An action figure celebrating a white Italian guy pretending to be Native? Insane that made it past the planning stage With that mentality you would need to cancel every western movie/tv show made in the 20th century. Itβs called acting. |
