The figure itself is the same Exactly the same argument your using for putting a date stamp on is the same argument that can be used for the opposite point So you’re not collecting the figure to have the figure itself, your collecting for the value. You can’t dispute that with your argument for why a stamp should be put on - because it will affect the value in your eyes I am. I collect for value and for joy. I buy 2x each ultimate. one for keeping on the card, the other to keep loose. I also collect Hot toys and other 1/6 figures. Some I have never opened. I have sold most of my original wwe mattel figures and did all right. Then the itch for collecting them again happened with ue and the fx face features. You people need guys like me. I will buy extras of figures no one wants (see clearance and ringside xmas sales) Then I will sit on them for a few years and sell them. Am I a milloniare, no. But it gives me extra money to buy toys I want to buy. And that means I am constantly buying what Mattel keeps selling. Your free to do as you wish but sorry we don’t need you imo. Let the kids but the reduced figures to play with Your deliberately buying toys to resell and make a profit off - scalping by any other name is still scalping

The aimed at kids vs aimed at adults argument is missing the point IMO. If you’re buying a mass-market item (IE not a limited edition or exclusive with a set production number) it’s inherent that there’s a chance it could be reprinted and reissued. That’s part of the game, no matter what we’re talking about.

A couple of posts above someone made reference to us “needing them” since they buy up the reduced figures then sell them later It’s for us all to let our conscience be our guide but some parents can only afford to get toys when reduced so seeming like he is doing a favour to us by buying them to sell them on later is imo scummy

WWE figures are made for kids. They're in the toy aisle for a reason. You know what's not in the toy aisle?
Hot Toys and NECA figures.

That's presumably due to a much, much smaller demand, though. Robocop as a $10 "toy" or $100 "collectible" isn't shifting nearly as many units in a year as WWE does in a day.
WWE has massive mass-appeal to people of all ages - that's why it's afforded space in large superstore settings.

All those 10 year olds who want those Bob Orton’s, Paul Orndorff’s and Junkyard Dogs! They grew up watching them so Mattel is definitely only appealing to kids…….. Oh wait….

NECA toys are in Wal-Mart and Target, but they're in a collectibles section near the electronics.

Legends line is made for the + part of the 8+ Doesn’t take much brain power to realize they’re not making Paul Orndorff and Mean Mark Callous for 8 year olds

All this talk about kids toys has me wondering… are ultimates made for collectors or kids? It’s the premium line. Also, I’d love to see a higher end WWE figure line somewhere along the lines of a $50 price tag. I’m curious what we’d get in terms of articulation/paint jobs and accessories.

I think they're aimed more towards collectors... kids probably don't have (or aren't willing to spend) this much on an action figure/line. And FWIW, Mattel put "Adult Collector" on the bottom of the UE Sgt Slaughter box... could be because it was an exclusive, but I don't think they put it on the Slim Jim Macho or Mr T.

Same thing I was thinking. Most people here were complaining about the $30 price tag, which to me seems fair if it's Mattel's premium line.

Could the massive adult collectors market maybe come to my Targets and start buying the cool Legends figures made exclusively for them, please?

The legends line is 100% made for adult collectors If we collectors are the only ones buying the Legends line then it’ll be canceled by Target by the end of 2022. The line needs to appeal to kids (and their parents) as well for it to survive. They don’t need to know who Orndorff is the figure just needs to be visually appealing to them. A guy built like a superhero in bright colors is appealing to a child. Plus parents will buy their kids wrestlers that they had liked when they were a kid

Especially with the Network etc, where they can watch the old stuff with them and show them these legends (just as my dad did with me). I know I'll be buying my future kids the legends I grew up on!
