Stop with this nonsense. The legends line is 100% made for adult collectors If we collectors are the only ones buying the Legends line then it’ll be canceled by Target by the end of 2022. The line needs to appeal to kids as well for it to survive. They don’t need to know who Orndorff is the figure just needs to be visually appealing to them. A guy built like a superhero in bright colors is appealing to a child. 8000 adult collectors spent $250 on the new gen arena. That’s 2 million dollars all from adults. Don’t underestimate how many adult collectors there are.

Hurricane is probably the one with the least totals. But between four area Targets the other three figures are flooding the area. And seeing the area collectors and the area scalper shop(T0y W!z) have all purchased theirs now. So now it’s going to be largely up to parents to buy the rest whether it’s buying a wrestler that they liked when they were a kid or because it’s appealing to their kids. Or gifts for their children’s friends birthdays.

The reason so many of Hurricanes & Bob Orton & Triple H’s are warming is because WWE & Mattel refuse to figure out a solution to get more legends figures made. Hurricane is borderline legend, Bob Orton is from way way back in the day & we’ve had probably 20 HHH elites over the years. This is gonna kill the legends line if they don’t figure out a way to get fresh FTIL figs. Some no name toy company can make Gangrel, Adam Bomb and Jeff Jarrett but the biggest toy company and biggest wrestling company can’t get these guys onboard. Come on.

There’s several reasons that may be. To work with Mattel they have to be on good terms with WWE. These small companies paying the guys directly may be a better deal for them than having to deal with a company they may not want to deal with anymore for the money/contract they would/may not even be offering. They could throw money at them, but then would it be profitable? People act like they can solve Mattels problems but they don’t seem to know what it’s like working for a giant corporation or if Mattel even considers stores buying a ton of their product a problem…

the value of these HBK and Brock Ultimates will still be high in 10 years. maybe not $300, but who knows.
Defining Moments Bret Hart was widely available to everyone, there were still tons of collectors and kids buying WWE toys in 2010/2011. That figure was being sold at Marshall's for $10....now it sells for over $150 easily.
there's always going to be new people. there's always going to be interest in things that can't be made anymore. its not like the Brock and HBK Ultimates were made in 2015. they came out 2 years ago in limited release but never advertised as such (they weren't "exclusives")

Love how all the collectors on here think they know more than those in the industry and infact are correcting people at mattel in what they say
Having an opinion is fine but when someone from a business then tells you who a certain product is aimed at you can’t say “nah you’re wrong” 😆

Mattel: “the only way we can have a mass retail presence is making figures which will appeal to kids and collectors” Collector: “kids don’t want these” Literally I can prove you wrong with the fact my son does indeed want EVERY figure he sees Nowadays there’s these new fangled contraptions called tablets, smart TVs etc etc. On these devices you can watch this thing called the wwe network, youtube and other things called apps These apps allow kids to watch wrestling 24/7. That means they’re not restricted like we were back on the day to either having to buy overpriced vhs and whatever was on tv. That means my soon to be 8 year old is as familiar with andre v big John studd as he is drew v Brock. He is as much a fan of demolition as he is the new day. Try and remember back to being a kid obsessed with something - kids will watch the same 5 episodes of the same tv show over and over and over again. Having a literally unlimited amount of wrestling at zero to very little cost at first fingertips - they’d watch wrestling for 25 hours in a 24 hour day of they could. Take a step back for a second and consider maybe the company who produce the figures, do all the research and development, have all the market research, liaise with the big chain stores etc might, just might, know a bit more about their customer’s preferences than you.

I was 13 when the first set of Classic Superstars came out and I wanted every new character regardless of knowing who they were/are. If anything, it made me want to go back and what older matches to know who they were. So yes, there are some kids that will want Bog John Studd, Cowboy Bob, or any new character.

There’s way more parents/kids than there are “collectors” in an area. Hell there’s plenty of collectors on this very site who don’t buy full sets because they’re $20 a pop. lol

Kids don't only want things they've seen on TV or movies.
Half the superhero/X-Men figures I had as a kid were characters I'd never seen in the comics or in cartoons. Most of the characters on the trading cards were new to me, but I still wanted them if they looked cool. I'm sure there are kids who think Big John Studd or Paul Orndorff or Hurricane look cool and want the figure. Or their parents think they look cool and buy them for them.
How many of us collected, for example, TMNT as kids? And how many of those figures were new to us? Why shouldn't wrestling be the same? Most kids won't care if a guy wrestled in the 80s or last week when they're playing with them.

Most kids won't care if a guy wrestled in the 80s or last week when they're playing with them. Perhaps, but why are there 14 Dexter Lumis figures hanging in my local Walmart since October? Why do NXT basics sell so much slower? I'm thinking kids don't watch NXT like they do Raw and Smackdown, and that may be the reason NXT basics hang around so much more.

I’m not following the conversation much but when I was a kid the BCA Dr Death rotted on shelves but I had one because I had to have one of every guy they made. I even had a Cornette even though I only used his racket because I thought, and even as a kid was right, that he was a dweeb.
Point is, some kids want every character they can get. Regardless if they know who they are. I’m sure in poor Dexter Lumis’ case, they put too many on shelves and parents buying for their kids don’t know who he is so they don’t buy him. Lumis himself is rad.

Don’t underestimate how many adult collectors there are. 4000 Adult collectors 4000 Adult scalpers I will never understand how people are referred to as scalpers when they buy a product like this that everyone had an equal chance of ordering for a month! Not to be a jerk, but I would even say there were probably only 2500-3000 individuals who made these purchases. Lots of people ordered and paid for multiples. I am one of them and I can not wait to get them.
