Couldn't agree more. The sheer entitlement of some people that their figures should "hold value" or whatever is ridiculous. Invest your money elsewhere so you don't get heated up when a wrestling toy you have two of is worth $100 less. These things are literally made for people's enjoyment, I can't imagine begrudging a company making them more accessible. Again no one is begrudging Mattel for rereleasing the figures. The issue is that Mattel should tweak the packaging ever so slightly so collectors and buyers will know that these new UE rereleases are a 2nd wave and not original. They’re going to be the same exact figures therefore it shouldn’t matter if it was 1st or 2nd wave |

Nice to see that most, overwhelmingly actually think this is a good idea
For those who are pissed cos their “value” is going down or they spent £200 on eBay then what can I say, that was your choice. You shouldn’t use your own impatience or desire to have the figure hamper others joy of getting it.
There’s many things I want, and can afford, but I’m waiting to pay a price I deem acceptable to me. Clearly at the time you felt the £200 or whatever was value to you - that’s how things go

I think the people not in favor of this who are talking about collectors and them paying more on the secondary market bought theirs for retail price and are only pretending like their concern is for the folks who spent extra.  |

It'd be nice if these had easier way to getting on shelves.
But; UE suck they jump in price and you forsure have to snag them at the right time. I got the SS 97 HBK for a steal; but you gotta keep tabs on UE more then others.

I couldn’t imagine being upset at this because my toy isn’t worth an extra $50.
The one case I can see someone rightfully be a little upset is if they spent hundreds on eBay -- because Mattel gave no indication this could even potentially happen.
1. Now they know for the future 2. I still think Mattel should not do this -- otherwise it means that so many people can't get them, just to protect the people who paid high eBay prices

They are toys everyone should be able to get them at the MSRP. And if someone thought it was worth it to spend an extra $50 on ebay to obtain it then that’s on them. That’s not Mattel’s problem. |

I’m not positive, but I think series 4 may have been the only set that wasn’t widely available and had lower production #’s. |

We'll have to agree to disagree man. For me (and I think others), part of the fun and thrill of toy collecting is rarity.
Would I love my Hasbros just as much today if I could go out and buy them all at retail? I don't think so. These Ultimates are years old figures -- and I could see people who thought they had rare versions (and I'm not talking about scalpers, who I don't care bout) being a little bummed they are no longer rare

So they’ve rereleased a few RSEs I can think of with slight differences. Brock, Cactus, and Kane come to mind. I’d like this over another of the same old one.   |

It seems to me the only people upset about this would be people who were lucky enough to get those 2 ultimates. The unfortunate truth about this hobby of ours is that a huge number of these figures are immediately purchased by scalpers for the purpose of price gouging. These figures were already limited to begin with. I’m on board with any decision that hurts scalpers |

I can understand being frustrated if you have one of these and the value goes down - but - that is not Mattel's concern. In fact, I would think Mattel would see figures skyrocket in value and that should tell them that there is a demand for a re-release of that figure.
