Store exclusives (eg. the Legends line) - I don't think people in the US realise what a pain in the @$$ these are for international collectors - not only do we have to pay the "ebay" or secondary market prices, but then there's international shipping and customs duty on top. So a standard $20 figure for you guys works out at about $60 for us... 🥴 Guys in the US complaining about store exclusives - see above, lol. At least you guys have a chance (no matter how small) at finding these figures. And you can often order them directly online (eg. Target) too. People complaining about really small/minute details that don't affect the overall look of the figure (eg. "I can't believe they left that stripe off the side of his tights - it ruins the whole figure!!" 🙄). I honestly think action figure collectors must be the most fussy people on earth, lol - when I think of some of the figures I had growing up in the 80s... figures these days are mini works of art(!). People complaining about YouTube-ers/influencers getting sent figures for free or in advance - I mean... what's the problem? They get sent them for a reason... most of time these videos/reviews are enjoyable, professionally-shot and well made - and obviously take a lot of time and effort to make. I don't understand the hate. The hate comes from jealousy. People are upset that influencers get stuff for free when they can't find it. It's advertising and a ton of people here don't understand how it works. On that note, all of my pet peeves come from other collectors, not collecting itself. 1. People who don't understand that Mattel can't make whoever they want, they have to follow what WWE allows. 2. People clamoring for obscure jobber #42 and won't shup up about it. 3. People that don't have any patience and have to have something NOW 4. When people buy a ton of the same figure and post about it and act all bad about it. I don't care how you spend your money, do whatever you want. You're not a badass, we're all nerds that collect action figures here. 5. "Just buy a bunch of the new gen ring and sell them! It's not scalping!" It literally is scalping. Shut up.

Jabrones that go on social media and message boards and p*ss and moan about not being able to find something on shelves or on a website.
To paraphrase Randall from Clerks, I hate it when I can’t find action figures!

Agree with everything, although I'm not sure about the bit in bold... isn't scalping when someone buys up something that's rare/hard to find to sell on (and thus depriving others that genuinely want it?). The New Gen Ring was easily available to everyone, anywhere (if you could afford it), so I don't know whether buying multiples to sell on really counts as scalping... seems they're just buying something to split up or sell later 🤔.

I have to pay double shipping (inside the US and then from US to Chile) and then pay Chilean taxes. BTW, if any of you guys help me to get some of the newer store exclusives like the upcoming RA elites and the Ultimate Macho Man later this year, I would REALLY appreciate it .

Why I cannot buy figures I want without having US hook ups.
Without them I’d just not be able to get so much stuff. Frustrating a company not finding a way in 2022 for international collectors to buy.

Legends being Target exclusives. I'm an international collector and target won't ship to forwarders.
Single jointed elbows still on some figures.
Flair figures can't do a proper figure 4 leglock.

Not having enough display space, waiting for Detolfs to become available.
I don't hate the store exclusives. As a kid WalMart, Toys R Us and KB Toys's inventory always seemed to be way different so kinda used to that. I do wish the online preorder dates for Target and Walmart were more clear. Seems like they just pop up out of no where without a heads up or the initially announced dates change.

Store Exclusive Anything. I don't care about the hunt I just want my figures. And for the billionth time, not everyone has access to the same stores. I shouldn't have to go to secondary everytime I want a Legends figure because the nearest Target is an hour away.

As a Canadian, this rings very true and I have missed out on so many Target exclusives that I'll never find them at retail price which is not fair in my opinion. I've supported this line literally from day one as I worked at Toys R Us when the line launched.

Store Exclusives. Price increases. Stuff on Mattelcreations. It's impossible to get something on there because stuff usually sells out in minutes especially the Hot Wheels RedLine Club cars and other Hot Wheels brand Collab cars. I'm not a RedLine Club member but if I was I wouldn't be able to get to buy the cars when they get released since I'm at work and can't be on my phone or be at home to use the PC

People who buy a Mattel figure, go home and open the figure and take out what they want, then put an older figure (most of the times an old Jakks figure) back in the box, then return the box to the store which gets put back on the shelves. Sad thing is, I really doubt that kids are doing that, it would seem that adults are the ones doing this which is just sad.

People that complain about a re-issue or update on a figure that’s very valuable on the secondary market. These are mass produced toys mainly geared towards children so if you’re in this hobby to make a bunch of profit, I have no sympathy for your feelings if you’re upset that it affects the “value” of your figure. If you make a living flipping toys then good for you. But I’d much rather own a Harley Race or DM Bret and have tens of thousands of more people have the choice to obtain these figures for their collection than I care about your resell value. your resell value and your selfishness.

Being excited for a figure only for it to come with major qc issues
Figures that you’re hyped about and then Mattel butchers it ala Salmon Bret
Preordering from Target
Ordering figures on impulse and then not wanting them (which is more of a me problem)
Figures utilizing the wrong parts

They only feel good about buying toys if no one else can have them. “Neener neener boo boo I got da rare one, now let me take a bunch of pictures of it to brag, and then put it in a drawer never to see the light of day again.”

I understand the reasoning behind store exclusives and am not fully against the idea, but the execution is terrible by the stores themselves. Plus, the fact that Targets are not as prevalent as Walmarts (and both suck at inventory), it’s hard to get a Target exclusive unless you pre-order online or pay extra from someone. Same for Walmart exclusives if you can’t find them at your Walmart(s). Obviously you can try to go to a Target or other Walmarts, but not everyone can, or maybe someone can have a friend pick them up one for cost plus shipping, but not everyone is so lucky when it comes to that.

Maybe not young kids, but at least teenagers. Regardless, it is BS, plus how stores don’t even care makes it worse.

I have 4 Walmarts in about a 30 minute radius to me, but each one is crapwith inventory. Gas is also ridiculously high right now so no thanks. That’s why I ordered from RSC so much. Even though I was paying about $5-$10 extra per figure, it was worth it so I didn’t have to “hunt” and waste gas, plus I would get it in sooner than retail would.

Scalping doesn’t apply to the New Gen arena imo Exactly. Scalping is finding 3 chase figures at Walmart and buying all 3 to resell. Scalping is not backing a crowdfunded project available to everyone for a month just to resell later. Like I said, without the resellers, it may not have even met all the goals. I’m sure RSC and some other websites bought some, too.
