This way of doing things is obviously new and I’d love to hear your thoughts. Who already ordered? Who intends to order and hasn’t yet? And why are you waiting? Who likes the figure but isn’t ordering and why? Are you in favor of how it’s being offered as a made to order item? If this figure isn’t for you, does the made to order model still interest you for other items? Ordered two the second they went up. Although one small suggestion, having the pre order window be two weeks rather than one. This way it allows people to get paid and secure a pre order, on the chance that the one week window falls on a week they're not getting paid and can't go over budget. Especially during an expensive week like Comic Con lol

That said, I would absolutely be on board with using this model for legends talent in the future.

Haven’t ordered yet on the fence.. Overall I like the figure but for $50 shipped and a year wait just doesn’t seem worth it... I think I’d like it more if Mattel disclosed how many were made. It would add to the limited edition feel and increase the value. Without that I think it’s a cool figure in a bulky box... and there will be plenty of more Cody’s in the pipeline for cheaper that might even be better... This figure will be offered once and the figures amount they’re making are the ones that were preordered, what does that mean? Well simple once preorder close, you ain’t gonna see this figure again only in the secondary market. The Cody in the pipeline are not gonna compare to this one, you might see plastic coat or no coat at all.

If this figure isn’t for you, does the made to order model still interest you for other items? I ordered one within the first hour it dropped. Not a huge Cody fan or watcher of the current shows, but I still felt like it would look good in my collection. I don’t have all of the Ultimates either, so it’s not a matter of completing a set. If I didn’t get it now, I think it would be way out of my price range later, so I figured I may as well bite the bullet. Not interested in reselling it later - just getting it because I want it, and also to support the made-to-order model. It doesn’t provide the same feeling as when you buy something that could potentially sell out right away, so there’s no thrill involved, but that’s more than okay with me. I much prefer the pre-order window, regardless of immediate product availability. It’s worth it for the simple fact that I won’t have to fight any crowds or bots or anything like that. It’s simple, it’s direct, and it’s a relief.

I like the made-to-order model, but I'll admit, if we really do have to wait until next July to get him in-hand, that's a bit of a bummer.

Who likes the figure but isn’t ordering and why? Are you in favor of how it’s being offered as a made to order item? If this figure isn’t for you, does the made to order model still interest you for other items? Did not. Will not. I think the figure itself is "fine" but the choice of Cody is a problem, in my opinion. A similar topic has come up in the New Generation Arena thread - the Entrance and Doink seem to be the true selling points because we know you're going to make more rings, more Diesels, and more Machos. The same problem applies here - we know there will be many Codys in many different lines and that there will be a cheaper option that will be close enough to this one to not make a huge difference (and that there is VERY likely to be an Elite/Ultimate with the torn pec that will be more in demand than this one). It's a Diesel/Macho instead of a Doink and, aside from being the "first" Cody, there's not a huge selling point here other than a soft goods jacket (which doesn't justify the higher price, in my opinion). The packaging seems cumbersome for MOC collectors but if that was the only issue that alone would not have kept me from purchasing. The concept is good. The marketing seems lacking and it seems like a missed opportunity for additional tiers/items like was done with the NGA (get X number of orders and there are additional accessories like a sledgehammer, get a BIG number of orders and it becomes a two in one with a full soft goods suit, although the boots would be a problem there). If the figure choice HAD to be Cody, I think it would have benefited, as others have mentioned, with more advertisement before the order went up, and possibly a prototype shown at SDCC (or even a video with you and Bill like you did last year for the NGA when it was "just" the ring, the entrance, Diesel, and Doink's mallet as a teaser for potential additional tiers). Steve, you seem to be a thoughtful guy who cares what collectors want. This type of item is the perfect opportunity to combine the "Fan Takeover" voting with the made to order concept. It would be easy to build more excitement for made to order items by opening up options for collectors to vote on, then making the option that gets the most votes. The made to order concept is a winner but the choice of figure, lack of collector engagement, and lack of build up (advertising/marketing) to the order process all hindered this first offering. It reminds me a lot of CM Punk's pipebomb line about Vince - "He's a millionaire who should be a billionaire"; this concept/line/figure itself could have been so much better as an initial offering than it actually appears to be at launch. I'm sure it will still do well but it just feels like there were a lot of potential sales missed for reasons that could have been avoidable (and cheap - Twitter poll!).

Upfront payment a year out, is the problem for me. A deposit, then the balance when it's made and ready to ship, would be better.

The figure looks great but I don't collect figures beyond the Attitude Era. Are you in favor of how it’s being offered as a made to order item?
Very much! If this figure isn’t for you, does the made to order model still interest you for other items?
Absolutely! Would love the concept for legends figures and ones that wouldn't necessarily do well beyond collectors.

If we had full proto of the intended release (MOC etc), I’d have probably got one or 2 more Who intends to order and hasn’t yet? And why are you waiting? N/A Who likes the figure but isn’t ordering and why? Cody wouldn’t have been my first choice, but I’m currently on mission to complete the Ultimate edition line (we’ll see if I can keep it). I think having more information and pics of the actual figure would have helped. Are you in favor of how it’s being offered as a made to order item? Absolutely - please keep doing this (NECA do it as well and it works a great)If this figure isn’t for you, does the made to order model still interest you for other items? N/A

Better than an exclusive which sells out in a minute. Everyone has a chance to order. Negative thing is i have to wait a year to arrive 😉

• I did order one
• Made to order is a great concept to put things out there that can't be scalped up in minutes on a hot item
• As everyone else seemed to mention, the 1 year out wait im not a fan of. It could be perhaps that its because its a current star and it feels like why would I order if im going to get more Codys between now and then. If it was something/someone that felt more exclusive (legends/stage/etc...) I think the wait would be less of a painpoint.

I love the figure and packaging I like the offering. And would likely order at least one of any future releases like this, depending on price and character

Not ordered yet, but I intend to grab a couple. Partly because I like the made to order model.
I'm not a current collector so Cody isn't of particular interest to me, but I figure supporting will encourage more of these types of things to be made and by the time it's in hand it'll be a hot ticket not unlike the ring.

This is dead wrong. That crowd fund worked because of the late addition of the Ultimate Macho. Period. End of story.

I want that figure very bad, but i can't afford it because of the shipping price. 45$ for the figure + 30$ shipping is just too much, while ringside offer's shipping for ultimate's for 20$, and Amazon for 13$-18$ (or free if you spend 49$ or more). I relly wish it was their exclusive, and not Mattel creations exclusive. Really hope there will be another chance to buy it, or maybe mattel creations can drop down the shipping cost a little of bit.

Who likes the figure but isn’t ordering and why? Are you in favor of how it’s being offered as a made to order item? If this figure isn’t for you, does the made to order model still interest you for other items? 1) I ordered two. 1 to open and 1 to keep MOC 2) I may order a couple more before it closes. Why? trade bait. I collect every Ultimate, but I may have been 30 seconds off from being able to buy the No Holds Barred set. That stung and maybe you should consider doing this for next SDCC right now. I would buy in today and just put my trust in you that what you deliver will be AWESOME and much desired! 3) n/a 4) Yes, I like this idea. Just wish it did not take as long to make and deliver, but I understand. As I said above, I wish you would offer the next SDCC like this. I would love to reserve two now blind, rather than deal with what we did Friday. Also I like the exclusive feel of this. People are going to really regret not backing this once you start to show final products. 5) Yes, Keep this made to order option up. Offer 4 of these throughout the year! It is exciting to wonder what will be next. BUT, doing it this way at this price point means you really HAVE to deliver and knock it out of the park! I am sure the limited amount that will be made will hopefully let you focus more on quality control and I love soft goods for Ultimates. That is a must! I hope you take my feedback well. Keep doing what you are doing and you will continue to have me as a loyal customer! Last, but not least... GET US RAVEN, SABU, AND THE SANDMAN!!! TAKE MY MONEY!!!

I think it was the addition of another Ultimate figure that did the trick, not just because it was the Macho Man. When it became known that we would get at LEAST 2 Ulitmates with this as long as 5k sold, that is what got people on board. Doink was a 2nd tier goal and there was no way to tell if he would be made after we hit 5k. Honestly believe if it was Razor, Bret, Piper, HBK as the early bird special, the numbers would be the same

I like the made it order offer vs the drop and rush to get in line only To get the “sold out message after waiting (similar to No Holds Barred) I think the Made to Order Model is unique as it creates collector items for everyone and gets people invested into the hobby.

If this figure isn’t for you, does the made to order model still interest you for other items? im a fan of made to order. But not on something like this. As this is a figure that would sell at retail. This just seems like a standard figure with a high price tag for no reason. There is nothing special to it. In general i am not a big fan of Ultimates because of the non-flush torsos, which in-turn causes the stomach piece to have to be smaller than the chest. Since we've seen new elites like Flair/RVD be released in 9 months or under since they returned...it seems feasible this could've just been a standard release elite that would come out before Christmas. As opposed to being double the price and not releasing for a year perhaps? As the only new parts needed for a Cody elite would be the head/belt/robe. I think adding kneepads just to have a flat surface to print his tights logo on doesn't look good. As visually Cody obviously doesn't wear these knee pads in real life. So just visually the AEW figures of him look better because they have the long tights, no kneepads and the wider more appropriate sized torso. This looks like the skinny jeff hardy torso. love the heads and the chest hair. And im sure the entrance gear will be great. I would prefer made to order figures, be something special or items that wouldn't sell at retail. Something like a WrestleCrap gimmick. ie; Max Moon. Or maybe golden age wrestlers like Buddy Rogers. Or special like Cody Rhodes with the torn pec bruise....or bloody HBK from the first Hell in a Cell match. if i do end up buying this cody it will be because of the entrance gear.
