WWF for this one. Rock/HHH was red hot and this is arguably the best Austin/Taker match.

Gotta go with the WWF,,, it's what the world is watching!
But honestly, Fully Loaded was a better PPV for matches. Title changes and just better story lines.
WWF gets my vote!

WWF and it’s not even close. BATB may have been good if it were an episode of Nitro, but was weak for a PPV. Fully Loaded was good from top to bottom. Austin vs Taker and Rock vs HHH were two examples of feuds that never got old.

WWF.
BATB card is pretty abysmal.

WWF gets my vote again this month.
I was all in on the triple threat match and I thought the Rock and Billy Gunn stuff was hilarious. Plus while the match was not great I was very excited to see Shamrock vs Blackman too.
Now, while I am going for WWF this month, I was still interested in WCW as I wanted to see Savage vs Rodman being a huge NBA fan at the time.

Tough choice for me as I always loved the atmosphere of the Road Wild PPVs. I actually just rewatched Road Wild 1999 yesterday, and while the first half of the show drags, it picks up a lot for me with Benoit/DDP. Sid/Sting is a hidden gem for the era (not a five star classic but a good, hard hitting bout with a rare clean finish for either company at the time). Goldberg/Steiner is quick but entertaining, Savage/Rodman is fun for the spectacle of it, and Hogan/Nash is fine for the typical “Hogan topples the giant” storyline. The opening with Insane Clown Posse was surprisingly solid as well.
SummerSlam 1999 is also a mixed bag for me. The WWF was on fire at this time, and I was all-in on HHH’s push to the world title, but the show itself doesn’t hold up as well as I remember (I recently watched this one a few months back). I’m a Double J fan but the opening didn’t do much for me versus the Road Wild opening. The tag turmoil is good but the ending fell flat. Snow/Bossman is a typical but fun hardcore match for the era. The women’s match is best left forgotten. I enjoyed Shamrock/Blackman for what it was, and Test/Shane is a forgotten gem and MOTN IMO. I liked Kane/X-Pac at the time, but couldn’t stand the Unholy Alliance. Rock/Gunn was not good (neither was the feud as a whole but it did give us some great comedy at Billy Gunn’s expense). The main event was fine as well for your typical, overbooked Attitude-Era main events, and Foley winning was a cool surprise.
Both shows have highs and lows, but I’ll go with WCW for this month. Yes, the WWF was hotter, but I don’t think 1999 as a whole stands up as well as people remember it does and this SummerSlam is an example of that for me. WCW was nearing a total mess creative-wise at this point, but this is one of the last PPVs that I feel they delivered with for the most part. They had more names I was interested in seeing and left me entertained by the end of it.

This one is actually though. On paper the cards are about even. Hogan vs Nash with Hogan’s return to red and yellow and the stipulation of a retirement match makes Road Wild take it this time, but barely. WWF was still white hot and I did enjoy Summerslam as well, WCW gets the edge.

This was WCW for me because it had more wrestlers & matches I was interested in. WWF only had one the main event.
