I used to collect a lot more than I do now. But when the scale changed it really cut down my purchases. Hitman, Sting, Orton & McIntyre’s basics all shrunk in scale over time. Now they aren’t even close to their Elite counterparts. So now it’s really just my favorite wrestlers because I know the scale is messed up.

When they changed the articulation, I dipped out. Ever since then they’ve become more like bricks with bad articulation and paint apps.

I wouldn't say I "collect" Basics, but if there's a wrestler that I like in Basic Form I'll gladly buy it.... they display nicely loose.

I mostly have basics. They are cheaper. I am not an articulation snob. And I have said it before on here: A figure with nothing but an extra shirt and hands is not worth $20. Definitely not now that they are more $22+.
I still have a lot of elites and aew figures. But very rarely do I pay full price.

Haven't bought a basic since 2016. For newer collectors here there was a time when it was actually a tough choice between a elite or basic.

Only HBK. Then I make an entrance/shirt gear to cover most of the horrible looking body.
EDIT: Failed to mention, this goes for the newer basics. The older basics were fine to add to a collection. I used to collect those occasionally. I since gave all I had to my son.

If I want a wrestler or look in basic form, I buy it. So I guess yes?

Only basic I own is the Takeover Phoenix Gargano because it’s my favorite attire of him. Looks good displayed with the North American title on.

I sort of do, in that I get them for my nephew, because the way he likes to play with them would wreck an Elite, plus all that extra stuff doesn’t mean anything to him, he just wants the people he likes so he can throw them off the bookshelf through a table or something of that nature. It is hard to explain why some people don’t get made, like Demon Finn or Asuka, I feel like there’s a disconnect there on Mattel’s part. They’re clearly meant to be the budget line, but there’s a weird pattern emerging where if there’s someone new who doesn’t have a rocket strapped to them they’re more likely to get a Basic first, but the fans who most want everyone on the roster regardless of their status are the type who prefer Elites. I know NXT isn’t what it was but they really need to find some way to integrate them more into the plans, even people from black and gold NXT are waiting on their first figure, or they have some in Basic form and some Elite and there’s no way to have a full roster in either style.

I actually stopped collecting figures all together when they cut the articulation back in 2017 so I never owned a single one until recently, when I picked up the Trish/Chyna CS 2 pack. Chyna isnt too bad, but I gotta say Trish is a piece of crap. The legs barely move, the paint is bad, and is pretty much only worth it for the head to swap onto her first Elite.

Short answer: no.
Longer answer: No, but there are a select few I have. Been a while though. A couple Sasha's as she was my favorite for a long time. Seth/Drew pack as I wanted that Seth Messiah look. Keith Lee's first fig as an impulse buy.

Very very few figures after Basic 71, usually when they're on clearance or if it's a decent suited figure.

Only if it's an attire I want, but I understand why Basics are still around unlike commenters on Ringsides Instagram who think everything should be an Elite.
