I’ll be backing it, likely one maybe (and I stress maybe) 2 if closer to May, we are getting close to Warrior being unlocked!
For those concerned about it getting to 5K and then stalling, and only getting hogan and Rey (or even just Rey) the flip is, they’d become the second and third rarest Ultimates (behind only black card Sgt and maybe Sgt in general). Long term, they’d likely increase in value so if you’re willing to play the long game, the value is there. Food for thought.
I’m stoked with the Warrior. It’s the one of 20 Jakks classic, which is one I never owned, so stoked to have it as an Ultimate. I’ve also read all the hate that Warrior shouldn’t be in a WCW crowd fund blah blah, and yet the very same “collectors” are wanting a reissue of a WCW Warrior cause they “missed out” (insert Nick Young meme here lol). Do would want a WCW Warrior or not?
The last thing that would’ve stopped me was the packaging, if the figures were released like Kane, I’d probably out, but Steve has confirmed tradition UE packaging with a WCW logo.
Anywho, a possible 5 figures, the most complex and detailed stage ever created, of at one time the most popular wrestling show on TV, sign me up! The only thing that would’ve made this better is Sting!
(Note* I’m sure we’ll see the Outsiders etc. soon in Ultimates, it’ll feed into this I reckon)

I'm flipping back and forth on this, if I'm completely honest. I want the stage - but I don't have the space for it. I want the figs - but only if we get DDP & Steiner (ZERO interest in Warrior) but then I keep thinking: "Do I really want this or is it just FOMO?"
As of now, I'm not going to back it, but that could change.

Another thing, if this passes and magically somehow it hits all tiers, that’s like 250 more than the last crowd fund right? So the secondary market is going to be FLOODED. It’s fair to assume fans have more interest in WCW than they did the New Generation (I prefer the New Generation), so not crazy to think this could do more numbers even at the higher price point. The next month will be interesting regardless.

All the complaints that I'm reading across all social media, about the figures in this set, moreso than the price, really make me sad. I'm genuinely excited for this offering and I hope it goes all the way to 11k. Imma definitely throw down asap on Wednesday, but... I dunno... I'm not hopeful... there's more negativity than anything. =( At the very beginning I was so optimistic because I was pumped and the early indications I saw across all the figure Facebook groups was positive. It felt better than the initial reactions to the New Gen set. Then I waited an hour and the backlash began, people complaining everywhere (and honestly more of it was on this board than the groups ... I was pretty stunned by just how big the backlash is around here). Just the way Wrestling Internet is these days, I guess. Some people are always fighting about promotions, now figures too, lol. I hope this gets fully backed just for the sheer purpose of keeping mattel wanting to keep on putting out unique awesome stuff As much as I'm in the "this is awesome" camp, this point is my biggest belief with all of these premium items. Items like this and the New Gen entrance are EXACTLY the type of showcase/premium items I want as an adult wrestling figure collector. Any company can make figures, any company can make a steel cage, etc. Give me stuff like this that is of super high quality and really stands out. To me, these items feel special. I'm happy to pay more (thanks to the payment plans!) for premium items. This is the kinda stuff that I want to add to my collection, and I really, really, REALLY want it to continue.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how many backers this gets... due to the cost and (size!), I wonder if there'll be many people buying more than one set (like last time). I don't think we'll get many buying it, thinking they'll flip it for a billion dollars though (also like last time...).

Incredibly elaborate stage, I was never that much of a wcw fan but I can see great great care was put into this design. Those ultimate are tempting despite the price but I'll say this, I didn't hop aboard the new generation ring until the last minute/when Doink was announced, so we'll see.

Some of the complaints I've seen are cringey especially on Instagram. Stop asking for La Parka, Juvi, Bagwell and etc... They're not signed so why would they been included? They have to work with who they got, plus I can see more unveilings soon to entice the project to get funded, so these aren't the only figures we're getting. DDP in jeans would have been nice, but the figure shown is awesome regardless, headsculpts are way better than his other WCW Mattel offerings. Hogan is a weird one for an Early bird special. Same as his WWF Amazon exclusive, but Two shirts, two Bandanas and two sets of wrist bands all WCW themed is pretty nice. Would Have liked that new nWo Hogan with new body/tan though. But, People who are complaining about so many Hogans, Rey's.... Like, what would you expect with a Raw stage? Austin, Rock, Taker? so what's the difference? the Stage is a thing of beauty! But, I think alot of people don't realize the scale/detail of this thing. It's a far cry from the Titan Tron live entrance way, lmao. Day one backer here!

This is what I was eluding to on one of my other posts in one of the threads - there’s no conspiracy or anything why we don’t get more wcw guys, it’s because a lot of them are not signed. People’s reply will be “we’ll just sign them then” but it’s not that simple. 1. They have to want to be signed 2. There’s a cost associated with everyone they sign. Do they chase a wcw legend who they’ll make x with or focus on current talent or one of the huge legends who will shift innumerable units more Mattel and wwe are about making profit, not succumbing to (a sub section of) the fans wants

I kinda have the feeling that the people saying “why make Hogan the early bird? That figure isn’t going to motivate people to back it early” are the same people who complained about Mr T and Sgt Slaughter being the SDCC exclusive saying they were dumb choices and wouldn’t sell out. Same with No Holds Barred saying it was a bad movie that no one liked so why would anyone want to buy those figs. Ah yes, FTITL Mr.T and a brand new attire and first time UE Slaughter are 100% comparable to a literal re-release of an already made and widely available figure with new accessories.

I'm sorry but there's no arguing the figures aren't all poor choices except for Steiner. Hogan is basically a re-release, DDP is in a gear we've gotten 2 times already, Warrior is barely associated with WCW and is in street gear and Rey is barely passable but certainly isn't clamored for. They have better options under deals, Booker T, Bischoff, Nash, Hall, Flair, and Luger all spring to mind.

The figures by themselves at $45 (the price of Cody and Logan Paul) would be $225 $400 for the entire thing with all 5 figures unlocked is a good price for what you get, in this capitalist downward spiral known as 2023 This seems over priced because it is. 5 Ultimates and this stage is probably worth 500+. But this is where they’re going to get you. They likely know this won’t hit 5k buyers in a week, so right off the bat you’re likely not getting Hogan, and they also know it’s probably not hitting 9k backers and certainly not 11k backers. So you’re looking at only getting Mysterio, Stage and DDP for $450. If you look at it that way, definitely not worth it. But just because I want the stage, I’ll drop thr $400, but I don’t see us getting all the figures with this and neither do they.

So does anyone think the big guns, Nash, Hall, Flair, etc. won’t get a UE release unless it’s in this set? Or just those particular wrestlers would be more of an incentive to back the project?
I was under the impression that Hogan, Rey and Warrior were some of the best selling wrestlers, so why wouldn’t Mattel use those to anchor this product?
I think the majority of people not happy with the selection are not even the demographic Mattel are after to fund this. They know y’all will drop down the $400 regardless who the UE selection is.

I think - for figures that are meant to entice you into buying/funding the set - they just seem a bit "samey" and meh: a lot of collectors (me, anyway) are kind of tired of all the Reys, Hogans, Warriors etc... they get plenty of releases as it is. Yes, these are all UEs - but how many Rey figures have we had recently? It's hard to get excited by another one... same for yellow trunks Hogan (and I'm a HUGE Hogan guy!). 3 out of the 5 guys are all guys easily available elsewhere - and in the case of Hogan and Warrior, have already had 3 or more UEs. And DDP is a big let-down, as everyone wanted his classic jeans look - not an UE release of the exact look that's already had 2 Elite releases. So when 4 out of the 5 figures are ones I'd definitely think twice about purchasing, even if they were released separately or at mass-retail... including them in a set like this is super-disappointing.

Heavily disagree. I’m definitely the target demograph for this (age, funds, grew up with wcw etc). For the most part the complaints of ‘it should have been raw’, ‘it should have come with a commentary desk’, ‘it should have come with this entirely different lineup’ are stupid. There are two problems. One is that one of the figures is basically a rerelease. And that is the same figure expected to drive early backing. Two, this only has value if it’s fully backed because Mattel’s ordering of the figures means you may pay almost £500 for a stage and the more undesirable figures. Take out Hogan, replace it with basically any other highly desirable/interesting fig (Booker, Macho, Nash, Hall, Rick Steiner etc), and make Scott the early bird and this thing looks way more appealing even if it’s not fully backed. I can only imagine my disappointment opening this thing when it arrives if I paid all this money, waited all the time, and half the included figures have already been sitting on my shelf since before I even ordered.

That's cool and all but all those you named besides Bischoff and maybe Booker have countless figures as well. People were complaining about Luger being in the legends line recently let alone being an ultimate.... With that, people are saying some of the ultimates in this set are boring and you want another Luger that would check the box of a boring ultimate. Makes sense. As far as general consensus, most people aren't interested in an ultimate Luger or Luger himself in for that matter... So not sure if he'd "put butts in seats" for this project.

It's a no from me, sadly. Being a UK collector, the additional cost and inevitable customs charge is too prohibitive. The stage looks unbelievable. I'm blown away by how great it looks. Kudos to everyone involved in the process as it's a fantastic piece. The figures are not for me. If we were looking at something like WCW Bret, some kind of nWo presence - Bischoff as described above sounds great, Flair and someone a bit left field, ala Doink, I might have been able to talk myself into it. I'm really happy for people who are excited about the set and I'm keeping everything crossed that the whole thing gets funded. It's a great set if it ticks your boxes, but it's not for me as it stands. Mattel Creations lists this as £470 + £9 shipping inclusive of duty and tax.

So us lucky UK peeps would be paying almost $200 more...? As I said... what with the overall cost and poor figure choices, it's an easy pass.

Mattel could make DDP in jeans gear, Booker T wcw or tv champion, Bishoff, Macho man 1999, Bret hart, Outsiders, Curt Hennig, Eddie Guerrero for example.
They prefer repaint Hogan again, Warrior in jeans gear (not bad, but not for this project), Rey random attire (identical to Elite 100), DDP with same gear to old elite and greatest hits line.
It's a miss by Mattel. The price can be justified (for US collectors, not for us as european 555 euros) if the choice of wrestlers had been good.
