My mindset is similar to yours; although I do think it will limp across the 5000 line in May and get backed (barely).... Yeah I think Wrestlemania Week was the WRONG week to roll this out; over 80,000 fans (at least) were already spending "wrestling money" on travel.... tickets..... food..... car rental..... gas.... souvenirs.... t-shirts........AXXESS.... Wrestlecon/autographs/indy shows, all the other NON-WWE events that week..... ADD TO THAT all the other new reveals and pre-orders that went up quite literally less than 48 hours after the Nitro Crowd-Fund started...... the hardcore wrestling fans minds (and wallets) were just blown; Really think about it..... 80,000 fans went to Wrestlemania and spent big bucks. I can't imagine anyone spending less than $600-$1000 on a Wrestlemania experience; If just 3500 of them had backed this thing we'd be ahead of the game and fully funded (and possibly on our way to the next tiers). This might have done better if it was presented during one of the MANY slower periods for wrestling (and wrestling-figure) fans & collectors. Wrestlemania week was the wrong week to ask fans for another $400. But I've decided that the figures don't really matter. It's about the stage, and we're approaching half-way - - - I am starting to feel that this will probably (barely) get funded & made - and that's what's important, I think...... But damn I really would have loved the whole figure-package! People were saying SDCC was the wrong time for the new gen ring and wrestlemania would be better (which i agree with, lots of eyes on wrestling during that period and income tax return time). If they did it in the fall, people would say its bad timing because of the holidays, etc. So, yeah, i dont know, maybe there never really is an ideal time to get people to part with a large amount of money over a non-essential item. Curious - what was the argument that SDCC was not a good time for the roll-out?

I see the opposite. WM week is a great time. A lot of WM fans don't care if they gonna spend a lot of money. It's the right audience, from hard-core fans over families to collectors. What's missing was any sort of advertising and the right way to attract the WCW fans. They didn't do that. I didn't see anything that would attract me as a collector to invest and despite not being a WCW fan I would invest if I felt invested in the project. Hopefully they will learn from it and it won't be the last one. Likely there won't be another crowd fund for a long time if this one fails and I would love to see other stages like the wwe one. Curious - what was the argument that SDCC was not a good time for the roll-out? Previously, that time is when a bunch of other crowd funds are happening. So when New Gen was announced, Haslab already had Galactus and I believe GI Joe or Star Wars had others that were funding at the same time. Basically, I think they wanted to avoid making people choose between crowdfunding projects.

Thanks for that - I had heard from an Irish collector that they were getting access to the pure USD price and a higher shipping price added at check-out (as Mattel weren't adding the shipping surcharge to the headline price for them, but rather to the shipping charge itself) but seems we misunderstood each other Because its right. Austria is paying 400 Dollars plus 35 shipping too. All countries not listed on the website are paying in Dollars. Ireland too
You know what - you're actually correct.
My assumption was that Ireland would be grouped in with every EU country (why it's not, i don't know). So the actual cost to Ireland is $435, or in Euro, €395. At that price I'd actually have backed it if it came with the 5 figures.
I'd say there are a lot of Irish people (and people from other, unlisted EU countries) as confused as I am. That's mad. You've just knocked $180/€165 off what I thought was the price. At €395 I'd have backed in an instant (well.. if it came with all that is shown.. i wouldn't pay it for just the stage/rey which is all we'll get).
EDIT: Actually no, I wouldn't back it. I just am not a big enough WCW fan. I did get myself excited about it for a moment or two, though.

I think that's a comical assumption given that it would cost more than the Nitro Stage... That is the consensus but I don't necessarily see that having to be the case. I mean, Yeah, it's taller, but it just seems there's more to the Nitro stage. I always thought it was flashier back during the Late 90s. I'm pretty sure everyone who was there to see it has said the same thing...I assume that was conveyed to them by the Mattel team... Kyle Peterson even went as far as to say he got the vibe that the original plan was to do the Raw Stage after doing the Kane ring...but that the Nitro Stage was more cost effective 🤷🏻♂️

-In my mind, Wrestlemania was the perfect time to release and showcase this to the masses. -Based on all of our comments when we first saw the Nitro entrance, our board went nuts for excitement so I understand why they chose this item and I am glad. -I know they are using complaints and constructive criticism to better themselves from last time even though it hit all of its marks. -Manipulations of size and execution of the look were really well done for the WCW entrance. -Marketing wise - several videos were done on this. Our forum covered it. It's all over Facebook on ads and then the 160 thousand people who walked through access saw it. -The payment plan overseas is problematic - not fair to the fans there - but not sure Mattel can do anything about it based on the restrictions they are given. If there was a way we could help and it didn't have those restrictions to make it more affordable, I would help at no charge - just the cost it would take (which I have no idea - but am thinking of those collectors. -Losing the Hulk is a different tier model than gaining Macho Man from last time (as stated I am not a fan of that) -I know they want to stretch the customers to get a higher production number (i of course would like that for them) but sadly the Rey figure is probably the least wanted figure to inspire to 5,000 which puts this at risk unless an audible or surprise comes out.
i want to see this made badly ... with everything. Even if they said one has the option to pay $500.00 for the whole thing and if we reach 11,000 they will refund $100.00. That way many who sees the value of the entire lot could get tha either way if we reach $5,000.00. Just a thought.

Honestly, I’m getting to where I could care less about this thing. The lack of promotion and advertisement just make me feel like, as a consumer, that Mattel really care about this either. Bear in mind, I’ve backed four of these. With the New Gen set (backed 4 also), Steve and the team were everywhere. It was advertised everywhere and talked about on multiple platforms. With this, it’s been announced and then not mix since then other than a pointless stream video with incoherent rambling from Page, and then an IG video. I get it was wrestlemania week and all, but first impression are everything and right out of the gate it seems like this has been snake bitten. Maybe I’ll be proven wrong and it gets backed - we get Rey and the stage. Forget about DDP, Scott, and Warrior. Maybe we will get them as elite. Hogans already done for. Unless there’s a pivot done on this stage I think it’s all but done. May will be the final mail in the coffin. My mindset is similar to yours; although I do think it will limp across the 5000 line in May and get backed (barely).... You have SDCC exclusives from NECA, Hasbro, Mattel, Jazwares, etc. You have new reveals and new preorders dropping from every toy company as well. During New Gen, Galactus Haslab was going on at the same time. Plus it’s summertime when a lot of family vacations occur eating up a lot of their disposable income.

It seems like WrestleMania is the time for major WWE releases now which is great, but I know that between spending $100 on 2k23 and a couple hundred on pre-orders for figures revealed Mania weekend, it certainly pushed this project to the back of my collecting priority list.
I'd have to imagine that there are others in the same boat.
I will probably talk myself into backing but there is almost too much stuff around Mania season to add $400 on top.

Idk if it’s even worth it to wait and see now
my friend that was going to go almost half on it and he get the stage backed one himself. so I’d be paying $430 something for 4 figures and a stage (that I don’t need or have room for)
and that’s just if it hits 11k and everything gets unlocked

Part of the problem with either WrestleMania or SDCC is that those are the events that Mattel announce ALL their stuff all at once - the upcoming Ultimates, Elites, Retros, SuperStars, exclusives like the Ruthless Aggression line, the Legends (and now the Legends Ultimates), Ringside exclusives, the Coliseum Collection, etc., plus any new ventures like the Monday Night Wars line now.
That's a lot of stuff to throw-out all at once for collectors to digestion, especially when pre-orders for some of that stuff goes up as well immediately afterwards.
Maybe the answer is to launch a crowd-fund on its own at another time of year? Is Royal Rumble far enough from Xmas spending to give a "starts in two weeks!" kind of announcement maybe? Maybe time it end at WrestleMania rather than start so they can give it a last push then?
Or SummerSlam, a month or so after SDCC? Maybe Survivor Series, though that could be too close to Xmas spending time. Which event do WWE run in May nowadays? Anything special? I think Money in the Bank is in June, right?

I think the biggest problem isn’t when it goes on sale it’s how. No one knew how much this was going to cost or anything. All Steve told us was a lot. That doesn’t tell us much. They needed to introduce this and say coming spring with a price and advertise. Why not set an elite set up around the launch and advertise on packaging or in a store? You think casual collectors really know about this type of thing?

Which event do WWE run in May nowadays? Anything special? I think Money in the Bank is in June, right? Mattel should sponsor MITB and have an official “Money in the Crowdfund” match. First wrestler to reach an ultimate Doink on a pole wins. Winner gets his choice of which project to back, and a free one when it’s produced. Somehow, some way, Matt Cardona would find a way to compete. Mountain Dew did it. Logan Paul’s energy drink was featured at WM. Why not Mattel? Mostly, but not all, sarcasm.

Luckily I have room and blessed to drop $450+.
I’ll probably buy a few more if Warriors gets unlocked.
