Not to mention those like me that will cancel just prior to 5k (before I am charged) because I solely funded to get HH but am waiting to see if Mattel course corrects... If they don't, I will cancel and the numbers decrease... I have to think you're in the smallest of minorities on that one. I think this is the case with the majority. Even if were possible to cancel on the weekend, most will wait to see what Mattel does, if anything. Whether you love the Hogan figure or hate it, nobody would refuse it. I could care less about the Mysterio and DDP figure, but I’ll still take if free Hogan was a deal breaker for me unless it gets to 11K, which there is zero chance. |

I thought I would share a true story about my wrestling experience on a wrestling figure forum! What was I thinking?? I forgot how truly negative and nasty so many people were here so I deleted my post. Steve ... you deserve a raise for dealing with so much negativity. Thanks for answering questions and to the positive folks ... thanks ... I appreciate you! But too many negative and toxic people for me.

The big surprise for me was lack of major pod / influencer push Didn’t cardona back like 11 new gen arenas? Also they were very vocal about it, a lot less so this time They even made a T-shirt plugging the New Generation Arena. Are they plugging this project at all?  I just think those guys are way more invested in that early 90s WWF New Generation era than this one. They may still absolutely love the Nitro set and want it badly, but it probably doesn't hit that same level of nostalgia. |

i dont understand the fascination with hogan warrior or mysterio figure, i backed 2 of these and i feel like they are just horrible at strategizing. in what world did they think this even had the potential for 11k when the new gen did around 9k at almost half the price, they either getting greedy with this one or they didnt think it through.

In just a little over 24 hours only 10 people have backed since yesterday. Hogan got it up to 10ish an hour but it's ice cold right now.

What we can do? Buy Multiples if we can, it’s a great investment and is almost guaranteed to bring a profit and a for sure to always bring in what you paid for it, it’s a safe bet In what world do you think anyone is going to pay more for this set, when it can't even sell, at retail price, to 2,000 people across the whole world, at the peak of wrestling 'season'. Nobody thinks they will make a profit re-selling, which is why no one is buying 10 of them to re-sell. Don’t underestimate the power of opportunity, some people make up their minds later that they need this and are willing to pay whatever it takes Some people can’t afford it at the time it’s on pre order but can a year later Some people don’t know about it and when they find out it will be too late I can’t tell you how many times I thought I didn’t want something when it was easily available and end up paying a pretty penny for it later on |

This whole thing was dead since day one. They said they listened to the fans and the feedback, but obviously Kurt Angle is not the only one with a Milk-O-Mania moment! I understand capitalism and that companies look to maximize their profits, but I think Mattel overestimated their consumer base with this one. Hopefully it's a teachable lesson to the guys at Mattel, otherwise they'll be doomed to repeat the same mistake.

U go from a crowd fund item that you can fit into the corner of a shelf, to a crowd fund that will take up more space than the corner of a room.
I don't think the market is ready for something this size.
I know I'm beating a dead horse here, but the selection of wrestlers didn't help. Yes I know, they can only work with what they have yadda yadda, but they have a lot more WWE guys than WCW guys right now to to a raw stage. Not to mention they chose the order of figures.
I would've assumed the more basic looking figures (Rey, Hogan) go at the end of the fund since all the figures are technically "freebies" since most people are saying the stage itself is 400.
Rey was a poor choice. I don't watch nitro, but you know what my memory of Rey in WCW was? Him getting thrown at a trailer during nwo days.

If the majority of people are not willing to pay $400 now, then the majority of people will not be willing to pay more than $400 down the road. Most people that actually want this has already backed it. I can't fully understand the concept of a "limited" piece being precieved has "highly desired" because a handful of people would pay an inflated price for it later. The collectors that would hypthetically purchase later at the inflated price, has the disposible income to do so. I can't tell you how many things I don't know in my collection and losing sleep over it. If you are losing sleep over not having everything you ever wanted in your collection, then it's time for rehab. |

This is a lazy effort by Mattel. Hasbros crowd fund they’ve offered exclusive figures that aren’t currently in anyone’s collection. If you’re just gonna give us the same figures just do repaints to cut the cost. Or since Rey and hogan sell so well allegedly, put them towards the end. You can’t really compare Hasbro Marvel line to Mattel’s WWE. Hasbro probably has access to the whole Marvel library of characters. Mattel only has wrestlers that the WWE OK for them to release who have legends or merchandise deals. Steiner is a figure that is a new name to the Mattel line, but besides his brother what WCW wrestler do they have under contract to make that hasn’t had figures already? They are at the mercy of who the WWE has signed and wants them to make. It’s not like Mattel can just put Raven, Buff Bagwell, Disco Inferno or any other WCW wrestler who was in WCW at the time. That’s understandable. But, There’s no reason for them not to include repaints of elites to cut the cost…xpac…torrie Wilson, hogan… Booker t….warrior... Simple repaints of existing mold that would not require retooling. You want to add ultimate Steiner..make him tier 9000. Ddp…tier 11,000, etc. you package this with two repaints and stretch goals to get first time in the line figs, and this will fund in days. Mattel shoots themselves in the foot by giving us retooled ultimates of we already have multiples of then making a big deal out of stupid soft goods that most people are gonna just remove anyway. The logic is dumbfounding. |

For me, I'm not down to pay $800 CAD for this, regardless of what figures it comes with or how brilliant the stage is.
That's almost a full month's rent gone to a toy that I don't even have the space to display. I can make the money work but I just don't want to allocate that much to something.
It sucks that something you would love to support works in theory, but in reality it's just not feasible.

Even if it hits 11k Hogan wasn’t unlocked making it less worth it to back. I was thinking this. I feel that a lot of units would sell if everyone knew they were getting at least the stage, Hogan, and Rey. How does this make any sense? We already had the chance to be guaranteed Hogan, Rey and the stage and barely 2,000 people backed it. Those three together isn’t enticing enough for people. For all the people that are waiting until it reaches a certain number are hurting this as well. I don’t understand why you wouldn’t back it first and then cancel if it doesn’t look like it’s reaches your tier versus waiting to back until it reaches the tier. You’re just taking another number away from the total. You won’t get charged yet anyway. They charged me already. |

Something to consider! It's clear that Steve is fighting for us to produce legends. Thank you. The Monday Night Wars with WCW iis a cool campaign with the WCW entrance available for the 1st Time and a great way to kick this off. Scott Steiner is offered for the first time and we have all longed for him and his brother. If there is a demand for this by US (the collectors) ... I could see going deeper into the WCW roster and past. With Endeavor who just purchased WWE ... being one of the best at aquiring talent .. this could probably open up more possibilities to Mattel and us. But all will look at Supply and demand. So my hope is that our collector team steps up for this new campaign for the entrance and package. LONG STORY but it can give some back story. In 1994 I went with Burt Reynolds to Wrestlemania 10. The night before I went out with Vice President Ed Cohen and Bob Backlund to dinner. I pitched to them - how Bob should consider an organic turn because he carried the WWF for 6 years as the champion and now look where this company is and where is your respect. You go crazy with the lack of respect from people etc ... they both beemed. Next day I was back stage with all the wrestlers and Burt. Met everyone and watched the event with the wrestlers. Vince was great! Backlund tried the gimmick ... it took off and he became the champion again. Vince knew I wrote for the tv series Evening Shade and asked if I would meet with him. He flew me to New York and then they drove me to Titan Towers for.a tour and then I went o his house for dinner and spent 3 hours. It was awesome. At the time he hated when I or anyone said wrestling ... all he wanted to hear was WWF. He knew what he was up against with Ted Turner and WCW and there was no love lost. Vince was concerned that although he would outwork anyone he was going up against endless money. He then took me with him on the road for a week to see how the business works. I loved it - but - as much as I love it - he lives, breathes and sleeps it. I woudl have never saw my family. I saw him a few more times throughout the years and was so impressed with not only his marketing skills but his love of the business. WCW vs WWF/WWE was such high stakes fighting to see which company would stay alive. Both products were great and they did whatever they could to up each other. Here is what I know about Vince. 1. He is business. If it makes sense for business he will do it. 2. He will forgive people who wronged him so never say never. 3. Although he won with WCW and bought them ... if it was me ... I would have owned the two leagues and run them like the NFC and the AFC. WWE and WCW. Butmy personal opinion is that Vince is such a great creator he felt that RAW vs SMACKDOWN would be the same but only he created it. WCW exists. There is a massive library and some products but to me ... if it went a way Vince wouldn't shed a tear. Is he proud he won? Hell yes! But if I was to guess he would be happier focusing on products he created. I shared this long story because as a fan ... I loved both WCW & WWF/WWE. I also loved AWA and NWA. WORLD CLASS WRESTLING ... so to make these off shoots we have to prove there is a market. If not I could see a big I told you so by the Chairman! Although I like him and admire his work ethic, vision, marketing etc ... In addition to loving WWE ... I love WRESTLING ... give me more legends. Let's get this WCW entrance stage and show all of them there is a market to produce more things outside of WWE. If we make this happen it will make it easier for Mattel to open the flood gates to prove it is good for business ... which is all Vince wants to hear. If not .. getting other leagues and figures becomes more difficult. OMFG!!!! LOCK THE THREAD!!! LOCK THE THREAD!!! |
