I know I'm going to get bashed for this but I get bashed for alot of things so here goes nothing. What if we change the WCW ultimate Hogan to a WWF elite Hogan? Changing one of the Ultimates to an elite would lower the cost of the project right?? I know a WWF Elite Hulk Hogan has nothing to do with Nitro but if it's a figure that MOC Hulk Hogan collectors are yearning for.. such as an 1991 Pyhton Power Hulk Hogan with a red bandana, no tear Hulk Rules shirt with the Winged Eagle Title around his waist then you could easily get more backers and if it lowers the price of the project maybe Steiner becomes 7 thousand tiers insteand of 9 and so on??

Steve, this is my suggestion…
I realize 2,000 people are locked in for Rey as the base. So I’m assuming that has to stay the same.
Using the “What WCW crowdfund figure do you want most?” poll on these forums, I’d structure the tiers front loaded with who people want most.
This means Steiner would be the new early bird unlocked if you meet 5,000 by X date.
Next, Warrior at 7K. DDP at 9K. Then throw Hogan at 11K, OR offer him as an exclusive latebird.

So here is my thought on how Mattel can pull this out. I know they don't want to 'go back on their word' with the Early Bird, but if they want to spike this (at least a little bit) - just add Hogan to the basis. If you get 5,001 total backers, you get the Stage, Hogan, and Rey. That is the same that would happen If they hit 5,000 on Friday, and no more backed, so add Hogan to the basic set, and let's see how that changes things. I truly have no idea how things could potentially evolve if at all but would this exact scenario really move the needle after all the initial backlash on that particular figure? If Hogan didn’t move the needle the first time then it won’t the second. I think it’s a mixture of the figure being underwhelming for anyone who owns the amazon takeover. On it’s face it’s very similar. Hogan isn’t a Warrior or a Macho where all his looks are super different. And the fact that people weren’t individually incentivised to back for the Hogan also hurt things. With New Gen Macho I HAD to back to get mine. With Hogan, especially as an international buyer who’d be paying $626 instead of 400, I am backing at my own peril because there’s a massive risk of it not getting to 5k until after the deadline and I end up paying an extremely high price for the stage and 1 figure. If everyone who’d backed by April 7th was entitled to Hogan then you’re instilling the FOMO that if reaches some of those later tiers and we see Warrior and Steiner, I’d have missed out on a fig I’d have otherwise had if I’d have just backed earlier. For my money, the early bird and the international issue are what killed this. Nothing else.

Being in a lineup of figures where you have to potentially get them all and unlock them left this open to a lot of debate and extra scrutiny. Perhaps but I wouldn't be one of them since I'm fine with the Ultimate series 1 Warrior that was from that time period.

What if it instead of tiers of units sold it went by when you order? 2,000 by first week-gets hogan 3,000 x date gets DDP 5,000 by deadline Steiner 7,000 last day gets all. This would give fans a chance to get them all and also incentive to order early and give pressure to order by every deadline Of course the people who order early keep getting them all as deadlines approach.

It feels to me that there are a number of people who feel that this might limp to 5000 pieces, but it would only be for one figure and the stage. If it is for 2 figures and a stage, one of those being Hogan, then it could help some see the value. I am no expert, just an ‘arm chair quarterback’ like everyone here, but my gut tells me that having the two base figures (one of which is a Hogan) would help the perception of this.

Crowdfunds are a complex puzzle of timing, finances and emotions.
I’m actually shocked at the number of successful campaigns there have been across the board. By nature, there are a lot of obstacles facing these projects and overcoming them isn’t a given.
Specific to this project, a few things.
1. It is incredibly well done. Congrats to the team. People underestimate the cost that goes into some of the details, especially the programmable LED lighting elements.
2. The stage + Rey + Hulk at $400 is a fair number. Is it a number everyone likes? Maybe not. But it is fair.
3. One thing that impacts these projects, especially in the early days, is almost a reverse of FOMO… let’s call it Debbie Downer Syndrome. There are people that don’t like it, there are people that don’t want it, there are people that can’t afford it. These people might be loyal collectors, even completionists of the line… in this case Ultimates. They don’t want to feel like they *HAVE* to get this piece. So, what’s a route you can take? Ruin it for others. (Not suggesting this is every single person that is complaining about the project - opinions are certainly free to be shared in all cases - but, this is 100% the case for some.)
4. Can’t begin to weigh in on the reasoning behind the price difference for International collectors. I don’t think it is anywhere near the “price gouging” accusations some have shared. International sales appeared to be a big part of the New Generation’s success. Hopefully this can be sorted out in a positive way for all sides.
5. As is, I think this gets over the 5,000 mark. Maybe a crawl. Maybe in the last hour, but it gets there. As is + Hogan? Gets there a little easier.
6. Right now, 7k, 9k and 11k feel like longshots. Again, no clue about the financials, but I’d go as far to say if 7,000, 9,000 and 11,000 were to become 6,000, 7,000 and 8,000… I think we’d hit 7,000…. Maybe even 8,000. Might not make financial sense for Mattel. Might kill the margins. Couldn’t begin to pretend to know. BUT, I do know that DDP and Big Poppa Pump are probably the two biggest emotional drivers behind the Stage. Making them more reachable throws some gas on the fire.
7. Thanks Steve. Thanks Bill. Thanks Robert. You guys listen and it’s appreciated. From Legends to part choices to Retros, you guys have been good to the collectors and it’s appreciated.

If I misread your earlier comments, my fault. Completely sorry about that. I read the whole “it is what it is” as a sign you may have been looking to give up already. For me, where there is a will there’s a way and I don’t want to see this fail nor do I really want to hear any talk as such. There’s still a lot of time to fix things and there are other ideas I have but I know for a fact they aren’t feasible. You have more power than us in this situation and I know you could do something to help this pass and get more people to back it. I just want to see it happen, and NOT by the way to have a live stream with Sam Roberts (who by the by I’ve heard a few stories about but that isn’t for this thread) and DDP doing the whole “back in my day” old man thing that I’m sure just put more people to sleep than it did getting folks excited to back this thing. One thing that most definitely should be done is to adjust the international shipping and price as reading these comments, a lot of your international crowd feels like they’ve been left out and got the short end of the stick. We’d see an immediate pop with Hogan as a permanent addition, lower tiers, and especially that international price fixed. The international fix alone I’m sure would put us near or over the 5,000 mark. My insta and Twitter is the same as my username here. I’d love to be able to interact more and to try to help if I can. It is what it is is me not getting bent out of shape if this ultimately doesn’t fund. Gotta keep a level head here. I’ve passed on all international comments to the MC team. It’s a bit out of my hands other than following up with the regularly and advising. Hogan added back…yes, it’s better than no Hogan but is that the best solution? I’m just not sure. One thought also was that maybe the presentation was a little off too. When you look on the page, it shows the stage and all five figures with 26 days as the ending point. So maybe a lot of people thought they would have more time? IIRC, wasn’t the NGA only advertised with Diesel and Doink and Savage kept separate? I would love to see all five figures and the stage for $400 if we reach 5,000, but while it may be an easier sell, not sure if that would go down with corporate.

Yeah, the Warrior was honestly the only thing I saw from the set that I didn’t want to miss out on. So it sucks he’s such a longshot. Perhaps he could be the early bird? That’s my personal preference, but Steiner does seem to be the more wanted figure. At least on these forums. But maybe there are more people who’d prefer Warrior overall in the collecting world? Either way, those 2 should be the first two tiers at 5K early bird and 7K. The order you put them in is a toss up, though. If the Ultimate Warrior Ultimate ultimately (ha) doesn’t get funded and you want to stay true to never releasing it if it doesn’t, I hope you at least make an elite of it.

If you’re looking for advice. If it is doable I say forget Hulk entirely.
If there’s a way to put a more visually distinctive figure of a desirable talent in his place then offer that as in 7 or 10 day window as an exclusive. Everyone who backs in that time gets the figure as long as it reaches 5k by may 5th. Like Macho was to new gen. Obviously I don’t work for mattel so I have no idea how it’d factor into a budget. But technically you’re not adding anything of greater value than the Hogan was, you’re just replacing him with something to create more demand.
A WCW Bret could have worked but with him coming up in the MMW line maybe not. I say offer a Halloween Havoc ‘96 Macho Man, or a Rick Steiner to go kinda compliment the post-heel turn Scott.
Those would move the needle.

I’m hoping I don’t get banned for speaking my opinion on this but it’s easy to blame the collector. Did people say they wanted this? Yeah but people say they want many things until the price comes into play. I don’t think many found the value in this set for $400 and the figure choices were poor. Starting with Rey at 5K & then Hogan as the early backer bonus was not the way to go. I also personally feel a little wronged as a collector because for the New Generation one (which I did want) we were told back that to get what a lot of really wanted (Raw Is War) and then this crowd fund was Nitro instead. I also lost interest when it was confirmed Raw Is War would cost more. I’m sorry but I can’t justify the cost of a PS5 for an LED stage that I also don’t even have room fot and that’s assuming the RAW stage is $500. It could be $600 or maybe $700. I think people want these things but I don’t think they want them for the price offered. If the cost can’t be brought down for RAW or Nitro I don’t see much of a demand for either one. The figure choices are also really important and the choices for this crowd fund were just underwhelming. Furthermore I don’t want to keep buying rings and would have preferred an expansion back to turn Raw into Nitro. I can’t store 3 Mattel rings (plus two Jazwares rings) and two huge stages. I just don’t have the room. I also think it isn’t doing well because most WCW fans stopped watching wrestling over 20 years ago. If another crowd fund ever happens, it would be helpful to get the presumed price along with the expected figures to see if people truly want the item or have an interest in the entire product at that price point. The New Generation arena succeeded because you really can’t argue that a ring, light up stage, 3 Ultimate Editions, an announce table, ring skirts, and an extra backdrop diorama wasn’t worth $250. It absolutely was and the tiers were fair enough to unlock and with figures people had an interest in. Just my take on the entire thing. I’m definitely not blaming the collector. The crowdfund campaign is the test to see if the item should become a reality. It’s just a few steps beyond all that work that needs to happen to get the cost anyway so even if we just asked “do you want the Nitro stage at $400?”, the bulk of the upfront work would have been done. I’ve addressed the rings/add-ons/conversions many times. I think I did a pretty good job giving details on the aic podcast (@aic_podcast on IG) dropping on the 10th if you want to take the time to listen. I know you want conversion kits and I want to get there. It’s just not realistic at this moment in time. I know some would have preferred the RAW stage first but if you think there was backlash at $400 for Nitro, what would have happened with RAW having to be even more expensive. Nitro first allows us to get some potential shared tooling banked so RAW can be less expensive and have a bit less sticker shock. And I fully don’t expect every single consumer to buy both. Will there be some overlap? Sure. But ultimately, buy what you want to buy. So really, do we as a collective community want the stage given the realities of the price? We’ll see in a month. I do think there would be backlash to Raw Is War at a higher price point. Explaining that Nitro would bring down the cost for Raw Is War so it isn’t a sticker shock makes sense. However it brining down the cost but still being more expensive is where I think the disconnect is. Based on what I’ve been reading I think Raw Is War is gonna be hard sell especially if it’s above a $400 price point. An LED stage should never cost more than a PS5. I think a slightly smaller scale would have been better and most wouldn’t mind too much.

Well we need 5K units to move forward at all. That’s our MOQ (minimum order quantity) negotiated with the factory for this particular item. Any less and the cost skyrockets and the item becomes an impossibility.

Pardon my French here because while I do follow you on insta, we haven’t formally talked at all. I’ve been burned by your company in the past, SEVERAL times. Yet I keep coming back to this stuff. I keep making art with this because the stuff is still cool. I didn’t back the first crowd fund as I didn’t have the money and wasn’t too comfortable then with that much money being on the table for so long. Since then, I have and I also got the NGA from someone I follow who sold it to me at a good enough price without the figures. I admittedly didn’t have faith in this at first until I saw there was going to be a ring made. I then sold my Analogue Pocket and put in my money. Not just because of that but also to be part of something as my health hasn’t been the greatest physical or mental and needed something to look forward to and help with. The fact that we are all, especially YOU, giving up on this with so much time left sickens me. I don’t give a damn, I don’t want to hear excuses, MAKE THIS RIGHT. You have PLENTY OF TIME to fix this campaign. These people aren’t to blame and while I’m disheartened to hear about all the people wanting to pass this up, I completely understand. If I was in your position, I’d be doing everything possible to make this happen. Not just because of the possibilities (a RAW IS WAR stage anyone) but also because you’d be making at the very most 4.4 MILLION DOLLARS for Mattel with this. Now, I have a few suggestions that I believe will help. Make the Hogan and Rey for EVERYONE, lower the tiers for Steiner, DDP, and Warrior, fix and apologize for overcharging the international shipping. Give something for the initial 2,000 that believed in this enough to back it. This whole thing is starting to sound like NORAD sounding the alarm about a nuclear war when it’s just JOSHUA playing a War Game. It’s not over, FAR FROM IT. But your attitude of “what else do you expect me to do” is not helping. People have TOLD you what you can do and it seems rather feasible. They aren’t asking for more, just to make it easier and more worth their time to back it. Remember, you NEED them to back this, they DON’T NEED to give you money nor to keep their pledge. If you don’t fix this campaign soon, not only WILL it be dead in the water, but more people are going to walk. You are what you wish and right now it seems like you’re manifesting it to fail. We are your customers, we want to see this happen as much as you do, but give us reasons to instead of making excuses because last I checked, this campaign was for a month, not for one week….. I don’t recall saying I or anyone on my side of things have given up. The fact that I’m still here on Easter Sunday interacting with all of you about this should make that crystal clear. And I think what you’re insinuating about my attitude is a stretch. If anything I’m fishing for better potential solutions, if anything can even be changed. Like me questioning if adding Hogan back is really the best idea. It’s been just over a week. We’ve got about a month left to get to the finish line. If you think hearing our opinions would genuinely be useful at this stage, then I'm happy to try to offer a constructive prospective that I hope can be useful: The negative online reaction to Hogan was OTT in my view, but it's the internet so it is what it is, the loudest voices will always be heard over the others. There are people in this thread that were excited by the Hogan and the WCW title especially but they've largely been drowned-out by those who wanted someone else or something else, or have just hit a level of fatigue with his figures recently, or whatever their reasons are. But it was a fair gamble to take - using him to get the project backed early made sense, and offering him to everyone afterwards also made sense. He obviously has the status of Macho to play the role this time around, but the lack of gear variety probably hurt here. I think if you had been able to add Pastamania then it might've made the difference, as stupid as that sounds! Now though he is a problem, because he wasn't activated. You set-out the rules clearly and we as backers failed to meet them, so that's not Mattel's fault. But the net effect is that him being eliminated is one figure down with a month still to go - I'm not sure how a new backer gets past that. The last couple of days maybe shows that. So a backer now is looking at a max of 4 figures with the stage instead of 5, with the Warrior looking wildly out of reach, and Steiner not much better. While I don't think adding Hogan back guarantees backing, I don't see how backing can be achieved without him at this stage. Some existing backers have spoken about cancelling as they don't see the stage and Rey as enough value (I've wrestled with this myself) whilst others have spoken about just plain wanting that Hogan and cancelling without him. Basically I think he needs to go back into the mix somehow before we can move forward. How Mattel would go about adding Hogan back without losing too much face might be difficult, but I think not having him going forward is too much of a negative on a struggling project to consider. In terms of what could get the project backed? It seems like Steiner is the key ingredient here from what I've seen. I understand the logic of putting him at 9,000 as that is past where the New Gen arena finished, but I don't see the faith in the collectors of us ever reaching 9,000 whatever happens. He might be the key to 5,000 backers - maybe if he sits at 6,000 ahead of DDP at 7,000 - but I'm guessing the budget doesn't have the room for that. But even he can't guarantee anything, just give us a fighting chance. Hope that's in some way helpful.

In regards to int pricing/shipping, not my call there but I’ll reiterate that I’ve passed along all feedback on this and will continue to do so.

Being in a lineup of figures where you have to potentially get them all and unlock them left this open to a lot of debate and extra scrutiny. I, for one, want to see this ultimate warrior released. If this doesn’t fund I’ll settle for an elite in the MNW line. That duster is SICK!
