Including Rey as the only guaranteed figure was a baffling choice... a lot of people - particularly hardcore collectors this set is aimed at - are burned-out on Rey figures... there's just been SO many of them recently. And he has 2 other UEs coming out soon too (if you just wanted an UE version). Aside from Steiner (who will no doubt be getting lots of figures anyway), none of the figures had that "Doink appeal" either... a mid-card/gimmick type figure you knew would never get released without the set. Not sure who WCW's version of Doink would be though(?) I know about the Walmart one, but what is the other? Amazon fan vote

Bullcrap. I'm tired of everybody putting all the blame on Hulk Hogan for this. Why not blame Rey?? Every Hulk Hogan figure has been a top seller regardless if you want to believe it or not. The fact of the matter is everybody wants something for nothing and Mattel did a damn good job to get the price point where it is. For all the talk about how "bad" the economy is I sure do see quite a few hiring signs. If you don't want it or can't afford it, fine but gloating over this thing not being backed makes you a stupid jackass. We are damn lucky to have Steve and Bill, they are ACTUALLY wrestling fans trying their best to give us what we want. I may not agree with all their attire choices, ( we really need 1991 Pyhton Power Hulk Hogan with the red bandana, no tear Hulk Rules Shirt and the Winged Eagle Championship around his waist) but I sure do appreciate everything they do for us. The question I need answered is how many did Buddy back? and how did you manage to back one on 20 hrs a week? Must be a budgeting genius! The dean of economics over here. Will the gf let him take a whole room over to display the stage? Will her brother pawn it for food or wreck it out of spite?

Honestly, I think they misfired with the figure choices. And some of those figures are coming out anyway in the Monday Night Wars line and others. Had the set of figures been: - nWo Bischoff (with alternate commentator gear) - Nash and Hall in debut street clothes - DDP in jeans and taped ribs - Lex Luger in debut street gear - Scott Steiner in iconic chainmail and biker trunks - A FTITL (Mongo? Zbysko? Madusa?) This thing would’ve blown up big time. As it stands, DDP and Hogan were too close to previous releases, Mysterio just isn’t a “must have” and that’s 3/5 being “meh” right there. And 3 times as many people would be on here complaining about most wanted figures being behind a $400/11k backers paywall. A quick summary of the figures guaranteed to fund this 100% so far; Why is there hulk/warrior/rey figures? It should be obscure characters like Doink. Why are the figures in this attire? It should be the most wanted looks. What are they in this order? If the order was changed it would be so much more successful.

Trying to keep this on subject and POSITIVE... Really interesting stuff in regards to Monday Night Wars figures. About 4 years worth of lineups

Clearly they shouldn’t have put any figures with it at all, because the appeal was supposed to be on the stage itself and yet all the focus is arguing over the figures. If the stage itself is not enough of a draw then this just isn’t meant to be

Still wild to me in the 10ish years Mattel had the chance, they never made a WCW Jericho.

Most of the included figures will have releases in other lines and these don't really do it.
Like another poster stated offering the entrance stage alone might have been the way to go.

I seriously still don't understand how some collectors clamour for street clothed figures and assume just because they want them then the majority of collectors/average consumers also would buy them. There's a reason why Jakks' street clothed figures would rot on pegs for years after coming out. And Mattel were smart enough to realise this and not make them other than very rarely as basics.

It's also interesting the information for the early backer Hulk Hogan figure is still up.

I’m shocked this isn’t doing better….this is a unique play set that toy companies don’t like to make anymore.
The figures aren’t a selling point for me except for Scott Steiner because he’s a first-time in the line and maybe DDP because I only have a few of his figures. Hell I bought the Target Legends Hulk Hogan just last night.

Still better than a redundant DDP and Hogan tho.

Id argue even doing Warrior in jeans was a misstep. I want it cos I’m a Warrior mark, but something like Fall Brawl would have been way more visually engaging
