I cannot imagine how badly this would have flipped if 4 of the 5 figures offered were in jeans 100%. I seriously still don't understand how some collectors clamour for street clothed figures and assume just because they want them then the majority of collectors/average consumers also would buy them. There's a reason why Jakks' street clothed figures would rot on pegs for years after coming out. And Mattel were smart enough to realise this and not make them other than very rarely as basics. While we are in agreement that non-specific street clothes do not make the most enticing figures, I do think that DDP is the exception only because the jeans/rib tape look was his actual attire during a very popular stretch of his career from 1997-1998. People have been clamoring for that figure for a while now which is justifiable. It was his default attire in Revenge for crying out loud! Also, I understand people suggesting shiny new names to help propel these high-ticket projects, but on the flip side there would be a ton of backlash on Mattel if they leveraged a notable FTITL figure behind a $400 paywall. It is one thing to include someone more obscure for the UE line (Doink) or an obscure attire, but imagine the uproar if they attached the first-ever Mattel Jeff Jarrett to the final tier of the New Generation set? People would be understandably pissed. They technically did that here by offering Scott Steiner although he will surely see a few other UE releases given all the different looks he had across his career. These decisions are surely tricky because you want to entice customers, but not strong-arm them. These are the figures/attires that I thought would make sense to include with this set given the limitations of the WCW names from that era currently under contract. - 1997/1998 DDP w/ jeans - 1998 Booker T - 1998 Scott Steiner - 1997/1998 Eddie Guerrero w/ lWo shirt - 1997 Halloween Havoc Rey Mysterio

back the stage or else you're next 😤
Well, I think I'm backing now after seeing this photo. I have most of these figures and that looks absolutely awesome.

Amazing! Can’t wait to display this! A lot of re release potential as well for the MnW line.

Most of the included figures will have releases in other lines and these don't really do it. Like another poster stated offering the entrance stage alone might have been the way to go. I’m not sure people are understanding that the $400 price tag is for the stage. Not including a single figure would’ve still put this at $400 with a 5,000 backer minimum for it to make sense financially for Mattel to produce.

Mattel have also shot themselves in the foot by having the Monday Night Wars line exclusive to a US store that us international customers don't have access to unless it's from a third party at inflated rates. This applies to the Legends line too.

That would have been even worse. The $400 price tags is the stage and Rey. Everything else is EXTRA. So ok, take out Rey. The price tags for the stage would still be over $350. You think people would buy the stage for $350? Good luck. People won’t even buy the stage for $400 with the potential of getting five figures.

If they want this to survive, they are going to have to add something. Just what it is right now. Otherwise this is going to die a slow painful creeping death to the end. And this is coming from someone who already backed it. This isn't a "stay positive: or "stop being negative" comment either. It's called reality. Sometimes the truth isn't pretty. Mattel got in their own way on this and over complicated the execution.

The problem is that there is no potential of getting 5 figures. I am not knocking the set, nor any of the Mattel team that worked on it. It's still the most incredibly well done stage that ever did live.. however, it's not coming with 5 figures. If it was, it'd be backed by many more, I reckon. People are (rightly and realistically) wondering will they get 2 figures with it. To some, that just doesn't seem like good value (whether you agree with that or not, they're still entitled to their opinion).

Still better than a redundant DDP and Hogan tho. 100% depends on the look. Only iconic looks and in-ring attires sell well. Street clothes don't. And there are very, very few street clothed looks that are iconic. As incentives, they wouldn't have a wide appeal.

It's also interesting the information for the early backer Hulk Hogan figure is still up. I could be wrong but I feel like they did this with the Macho on the New Gen too? So might be nothing in it.

It's continuing to lose backers. It went up to 2010 and is now back down to 2008.

Genuinely curious why some of you think this will still get funded without Hogan
I’m not saying it’s impossible, but it needs 3,000 more backers just to get unlocked. So why will there be a big rush at the end when Hogan is off the table? The surge should’ve happened last Thursday/Friday and it didn’t.
