Are the Ultimates a disappointment? Yes. But I'd also argue that they can't really put amazing Ultimates that everyone wants behind a $400 price tag because people would get awfully upset that a figure they have always wanted got released in a way that makes them hard to get. Imagine if that DDP was in the Jeans or that Steiner was in an awesome outfit but you don't have $400 to spend or don't want the stage. You'd feel like you missed out on a great figure that you'll never get. So I understand the choices they made. At the end of the day, those are bonuses. Look at the last crowdfund. That Savage was nothing special, Doink was awesome but it wasn't like they have never done a great Doink and Diesel was one of the blandest Ultimates ever made. Then they threw in a puny little announce table. The whole point of this is the stage set.
Having said that. I understand why there is hesitancy to back this. Last time, $250 got you a cool stage set, an entire ring and 3 Ultimates. Now they want $400 for a stage set, no ring and 5 Ultimates. Granted, this stage set is GORGEOUS. So I get the price being higher. But $400 still feels very steep.

For my own personal reasons I hope that they don't get backed enough to include Ultimate Warrior. You know you don’t have to keep the figure if it does get backed, right? I'll buy it from you lol. Warrior was my favorite when I was a kid, and has remained so. As I got older and learned more about the man who played the character, I did not like that man, but I still really love the character and the nostalgia will always be strong for me.

Random question for you guys, do you ever see yourself reaching a point to where you're done collecting? Like getting a full roster of characters and realizing there's nothing else to collect? Not for the forseable future. I certainly get bored with collecting because of the painfully slow pace of getting Legends that interest me, but in terms of figures I want, the well runs very deep. Last time I brainstormed a thorough wishlist, I thought of over 120 figures I'd like to see made (mostly WCW/NWO era, a few WWF Attitude era - and the vast majority of the lot would probably classify as deep cuts). Plus there's probably a dozen or two more I didn't think of but might buy if they looked cool too. For reference, here's a link to my most recent wishlist (and one of my favorite threads ever): forum.wrestlingfigs.com/thread/373741/legends-deep-cuts-suggestion-thread?page=2&scrollTo=9381982The way things work right now, most of my wishlist is probably fantasy land. But still I hope one day Mattel can think of new ways to offer more deep cut Legends (mid-carders, cruiserweights/luchas, managers, women, announcers, referees, wrestlecrap, etc). Technologies and associated costs will gradually improve for 3D printing, digital painting, and made-on-demand products. So maybe one day nearly all the figures we want could be possible and practical. But for now at least, "completing" my collection isn't any kind of possibility. That said, who thought we would ever get a properly-scaled, collector-quality WCW Nitro entrance stage? The future always brings new possibilities

It’s pretty simple actually: If you like it/want it, buy it. If you don’t, then don’t back it. Life goes on.

Another thing, if this passes and magically somehow it hits all tiers, that’s like 250 more than the last crowd fund right? So the secondary market is going to be FLOODED. It’s fair to assume fans have more interest in WCW than they did the New Generation (I prefer the New Generation), so not crazy to think this could do more numbers even at the higher price point. The next month will be interesting regardless. no that’s about 2.5k more. New gen was 8.5k Yeah I forgot a zero. I never proof read. My bad.

I backed the new gen set 3x. I have all ultimate figures twice so far. Only Kane from the ring i have 1x so far. So yes, i think i will back that thing. I never was a WCW guy but the stage looks cool and i dont wanna miss the figures. I realy hope we get all 5. I dont believe it but i hope 😉 So lets do it

So no one will be added. After a day of thinking about it, I spent more than $400 for the New Generation set on secondary, so I’m completely cool with this as long as it includes the Rey and DDP. Let’s get this thing to at least 7k!

Yeah, the tooling budget definitely went to the stage. As it should. Tooling for larger pieces is very expensive. These figures are still pretty involved and high deco. Look at other crowd funded campaigns - the figures are VERY bare bones, with limited or no accessories. These aren't the most detailed or high demand figures ever. But those expectations were never reasonable to begin with. I really think the figures are getting a bad rap because Mattel released the pics w/out the full accessories; I've wanted a WCW Red & Yellow Hogan for years, and I was very underwhelmed when I saw the pic, but then when I read that it's coming with 2 shirts, etc.... I'm psyched. Same with Warrior - I saw the pic and said "who is that?" But when Warrior has his Nitro debut Duster, I think it's going to be something that people really want..... I'm mostly fine with the figure choices, I do wish they had included an Eric Bischoff though. If they were going to do an Ultimate Bischoff, this would have been the way to get it in, unless they're going to pair him with a WCW Nitro Ring or Commentary Table. I could be wrong but it seems like this is getting a lot more chatter than the New Gen Ring did. I'm hoping that means there's a lot of interest, even if some of the comments are negative. No, I can't afford it, No, I don't have space for it....but I'm going to have to dust off my backup credit card because this isn't something I'm willing to NOT buy.... I'll be thrilled if this out-performs everyone's expectations and we meet all the goals in the first week or two! I think they're damned if they do, damned if they don't. Hasbro has revealed the stretch tiers as the previous one was unlocked. I think Mattel would have been roasted if they did it that way. They tried to show everything up front, but these are very early protos and it's probably next to impossible to have softgoods ready to show. I'm fortunate to be in a position where I'm able to buy this. I get that not everybody is in that position, and a few years ago I would have been in a different position. I don't expect to have this up year-round. But I also don't have my Xmas tree up year-round, and we've spent way more on the tree and ornaments than this state costs. This is the kind of thing I spent my childhood dreaming about, so I can't pass up the opportunity to own it, even if it's only on display a few times a year.

Whether it be celebratory praise, constructive criticism, or just creative brainstorming. Even the odd eccentric rant can be interesting. Who wants simplicity? This would be a pretty boring place if people just replied to everything with a thumbs up or a thumbs down, or if the only replies allowed were gushing 100% positive ones.

Hardest selling point is to convince people to buy multiples. New Gen resell value wasn’t astronomical like so many believed it would be. Plus you can justify a second or third ring, especially with the extra skirts. Savage was pretty much a 2 in 1 (3 in 1 by adding nWo accessories). This seems like a one and done for most people. There’s no use for a second stage and none of the figures really have 2 distinct looks making you feel obligated to purchase another unless you really want to display with every different head option.

I like and collect characters, not individual wrestlers/performers. I am a Warrior fan; I'm not a Jim Hellwig fan. This set includes a Warrior figure, not a Jim Hellwig figure (as I see it).

Random question for you guys, do you ever see yourself reaching a point to where you're done collecting? Like getting a full roster of characters and realizing there's nothing else to collect? I think I have already approached that point. I have never stopped collecting Legends, and have been collecting this line since day one back in January 2010. Over time though, I have become less interested in the modern WWE and NXT rosters and only pick up the odd Superstar that I find interesting. Before, I used to buy as much as I could from every wave except for repaints because I don't collect multiple attires for modern talent. With Mattel's slow pace releasing fresh, new legends, it does make me wonder how much longer I have in this hobby.

Will the next crowdfund be bigger? Similar size? Or significantly smaller and less risky? Honestly if this doesn't get funded to the 5,000 mark then I don't think we'll ever get the Raw stage, cause that would have to be around the same price point. I personally would rather see smaller crowd funds that would be much easier to display. Something like the Barber Shop with an ultimate Beefcake or Funeral Parlor with an ultimate Bearer for like $125-$150. Keep them simple and more affordable. For me they don't need to include a ton of stuff, as long as what is included makes sense for what the main item is.

Do people normally buy these kind of items right after initial sale ends? I don’t understand why the resell value would be immediate, seems like it’s a long term thing where you buy it for $250 and then like 2 years later sell for $500.

I don’t understand why the resell value would be immediate, seems like it’s a long term thing where you buy it for $250 and then like 2 years later sell for $500. A lot of people tried to flip their extra new gen arenas immediately just to try to catch those that missed it and wanted it immediately. Problem was everyone had the same idea and soon the market was flooded. The people who got theirs early in the shipping process from Mattel were the lucky ones who doubled and sometimes tripled their money, but soon so many were available that resale plummeted. I agree sitting on these for 5-10 years is probably the best way to make some decent money on them.
