New Gen Arena was at 67% with less than 26 hours before the Macho Man deadline. It hit 5k with less than 9 hours to go. It hit 7k with less than 3 hours until Macho deadline. It reached 8k in the final minute before the Macho deadline. So what r u saying? I’m saying that there’s no reason to be doom and gloom on this project. If it’s going to fund, it will probably fund on the day of the deadline like the previous one did and we’re still 2 weeks away.

That's massively idealistic wishful thinking but doesn't work in the real world business. The Raw stage could ONLY be feasible if this gets past the 5,000 stage (no pun intended), IE the tooling stage. Because for it to be somewhat economically viable, some of the parts need to come from the same molds because of the incredibly expensive tooling. No Nitro stage = no Raw stage. Basically because the Raw stage would be significantly more expensive due to the additional size. It'd probably mean more than $500 easily, and that would probably equate to about £700 for us international consumers :/ That's significantly easier and doesn't result them in losing any money whatsoever. I honestly think the raw is war stage is already out of the question. This entire campaign has proved that stages don’t sell that well. Even if it does reach 5000 backers, I think Mattel would be stupid to do another stage especially since this one required a whole pivot only to move about 50 more units lol All of the previous entrance stages sold well. In fact, they sold completely through. That’s why you can only get them on the secondary market. Stages sell well. All of the Jakks entrance stages sold through eventually. All of the Mattel ones sold through eventually. Stages sell. This may be a matter of such a large stage at such a high price point being too niche. But stages always have and always will sell well. And besides, people were saying the same thing about the New Gen Arena and it funded.

WF is a really weird barometer for economic confidence. My thing is if all these collectors are doing so well and the economy isn't effecting them, why aren't they backing multiples like people were for the New Gen Arena. I guess the poors just out number the giga chad collectors. I definitely feel for people that are hurting financially right now and understand why they aren’t backing this. I hope things bounce back for everyone. I’m doing pretty well and the economy isn’t effecting me personally, I just have no use for more than one of these sets. My New Gen arena and RAW ring are both sitting in the closet of my figure room. I’d like this thing to succeed, if anything else so those that want it get it and so the work that the Mattel team has put into it pays off, but I’m not going to buy a bunch of stuff I don’t really want or need. I’m down for one. If it gets back or not, I won’t lose sleep though.

Yeah, this ain’t getting funded. Mattel should consider releasing those figures in regular set. Let’s think about it. 1. Mass retail means easier accessibility and no weird extra fees 2. More accessories which highlights what Ultimate line is all about 3. Nobody really wants that stage evidently, so both parties save money 4. Most of us will not be forced to pay the 400 dollar paywall just because we want those figures. I personally really hope that’s the route they go. Question for all the doom and gloom non backers…… Do y’all know that there is no early deadline for Steiner? Many have said they will probably back at the end. It’s over May 6th. What’s the rush to back if we get Steiner regardless? I get y’all want this to fail, but a lot of us do want this and actually are a fan of the hobby.

Stayed away a few days hoping this thread wouldn’t be so toxic.. nope Yep, the non backers are very salty. Feels like this turned into an economics post.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it makes it just past 5k on the final day.
Certainly the full 11k is out of the question. If it looks like it’s getting close to Warrior on the final day I might swallow the fact they’re scamming internationals and back 1 as I’m a Warrior completist (and a mark for late 90s WCW)

Actually, it works all the time where toy company's make a calculated risk on purchasing the license without product. Creating a product hoping it sells. In likelihood they will be using pieces of this stage one way or another! In all likelihood they will make an Ultimate figure of Rey and Scott Steiner so to get guarantee money for the development of this is not impossible. This isn't even factoring in how many people will jump in because now this isn't speculation but a reality. The philosophy would be ... Do you really want to be one of those collectors who misses out on this? Again, a Hail Mary idea is not the 1st choice ... but if they have an investment on the Monday Night Wars with a ring and Bischoff coming out I wouldn't rule anything out for sure unless I heard it from Mattel. I do want it out of being a big WCW fan and FOMO. But I am in the camp of: 1. International customer therefore it prices me out 2. The figures aren't anything particularly exciting for me and like you said, there will be others undoubtedly 3. Space issues I could be fine with the figures, but it's mainly where could I put this massive thing? I don't have space unfortunately and can only envision a scenario where, one day, POSSIBLY, I have a man cave and set this thing up (I don't have a place of my own right now). But that's the same thing I tell myself constantly with Haslab purchases, Star Wars vehicles, DC Batmobiles/Batcycles and I am maxed out currently with space. Had I not got all of those, I'd have been more able to justify this purchase. But if I said screw it and funded it, I'd be throwing down $630 just to have it in a box until I can set it up occasionally or never

My thing is if all these collectors are doing so well and the economy isn't effecting them, why aren't they backing multiples like people were for the New Gen Arena. I think, as usual here, people are looking for a singular scapegoat. It's all the more likely a spectrum of factors that are going to differ from collector to collector. It's also really weird (but not entirely out of character for present company) that people who aren't struggling seem to lack the capability to step off of their front stoop and recognize that a lot of people already are. I hate to even say it, because it sounds so braggadocious and I've been there before to know how bad it can suck, but honestly? I could back this, today, right now, and hardly even notice the draw on account, but it's such a high cost, low reward ratio for me that it's not worth the buy in. I could also back this, I just don't think there's any point. It takes up too much room, the figures are mid and at the end of the day I just think it's over priced. The reason I talk about economics is just like you said, there's such a big disconnect from people here trying to dismiss its impact because they are doing fine, especially when compounded by the corporate bootlicking. Again, you put it great, it's high cost low reward even if you aren't hurting financially, looking at this project and deciding to drop $400+ bucks on it in the face of a recession and by the time you get it, the market will be even worse, just doesn't seem like a smarty move. The New Gen succeeded because the average collector felt comfortable picking one up and the big spenders picked up multiple, with this we are seeing the average collector being gun shy on pulling the trigger and the big spenders are only backing one.

But if I said screw it and funded it, I'd be throwing down $630 just to have it in a box until I can set it up occasionally or never I think Steve and the crew need to realise is that although we still collect figures most of us don’t actually still play with them like we did when we were 6 or 7. So we don’t need a stage and the figures themselves are what we’re after. Most WCW fans who were kids in the 90s are in their 30s now. We’re not going to be smashing and mashing out 60 dollar figures in a play set lmao Just axe this entire project and release the figures in retail with proper accessories.

If this fails, don't expect another stage any time soon. When Legends failed, it took around 8 years to revive the brand. Defining Moments took nearly 6. And those are $20-30 figures. The stench of a failed produce (regardless of why it fails) is strong in Corporate America. And honestly I don't know where they pivot from here. They said this was the lower price point for a stage. HIAC or EC would almost surely be more expensive. In the past Steve said sub $200 sets didn't make a lot of sense financially for Mattel. So you're basically trying to work in the $250-300ish ballpark. That's probably a pretty small window to work with.

I don't think people are understanding how large the RAW stage is compared to the Nitro stage. The photo on IG shows it is absolutely massive, so people complaining about space will have a full on panic attack if they were to see the official dimension of it. The Nitro stage is more modular than it as well so it can be put in small spots, but the RAW stage is pretty locked in besides the ramp. If this isn't funded there for sure won't be any more stages, and honestly I would be hesitant to expect the RAW stage even if this does fund. The main complaints of price and size are going to be even worse with that set.

I don’t understand why a $150-$200 set isn’t worth it for Mattel. How would something that costs more be more practical

For anyone complaining about size yet still wanting the RAW stage I really want the Nitro stage to get funded, but more so to hear all the people wishing it bad because they want this Raw stage. Can't wait to hear the excuses about how it would perform better and then hear the complaints about it taking space.

For anyone complaining about size yet still wanting the RAW stage Reminder that some people said the new gen light up entrance was too big because it was like 18 inches tall

Yeah, other than entrance stages and rings, what could they do as a crowdfunding campaign? I believe Steve already said they wouldn't do a crowdfunding campaign just for figures, so what else is there? I still think that interview sets could work, they would be cheaper than entrance stages and could include figures. But would those be popular enough to justify a crowdfunding campaign? Personally I'd be in for these: Piper's Pit: first tier is the regular set and an UE Piper figure. Second tier is an UE figure that wouldn't get released otherwise (maybe Bob Orton), Third tier would be the ring set up for the Piper's Pit (he used to sometimes do the Piper's Pit in a ring, instead of the traditional interview stage setup). Maybe an early bird special figure. Funeral Parlor: first tier is the main set with an UE Undertaker figure. Second tier is an UE Paul Bearer figure with extra pieces of the set. Third tier could be another UE figure. Early bird special figure could be Ultimate Warrior with a casket. Barber Shop: first tier is the regular set with an UE Brutus figure. Second tier is an UE Sid Justice figure. Third tier is an extra piece of the set with a breakaway window. Early bird special figure could be HBK. Austin/Zamboni Segment: first tier is the zamboni and an UE Austin figure. Second tier is Vince McMahon, the ring carpet, and the podium holding the WWF title (maybe they can redesign the title), third tier is Pat Patterson and Gerald Briscoe in suits or a couple of figures of cops. Early bird special could be Sgt. Slaughter in a suit.
