I work with a few not for profits and their donations are dramatically down. Food prices, gas and everything has gone up substantially. The spendable income is simply down so it is a much different time and gage from even last year. No way to anticipate that. I've ordered my WCW Nitro Entrance and hope it works for Mattel and all who want it but the financially times are no doubt a major factor for a larger price point item. Hope it works. No bro it's just collectors not putting their money where their mouth was 2 years ago. They should have known their was an unprecedented economic decline coming and thought about that before saying they wanted it.

New Gen price was better but it wasn’t really a package people were sold on. It had a lot of factors working against it. - Not everyone wanted another ring. We weren’t that far removed from the Raw and SD Main Event rings or WCT ASRs that a lot of us already had in our collection. Finding a spot for another ring felt more of a hindrance.
- Nostalgia just wasn’t there. New Gen was a really low point for WWF where a lot of people from the Golden Age started checking out
- Diesel was very underwhelming
- Tiers were kinda underwhelming as well. Doink was toyetic but not really a must have and skirts were kind of a “cool if we get it but not gonna be upset if we don’t” item
- The WW block logo is a big eyesore for many and with it being so prominent on the entrance and the ring it was impossible to ignore
- Nothing about the whole set prior to Macho being added felt like a must have
And this set is a worse price that a lot of people aren't sold on. - Not everyone wants to or has the room to display 7.5 cubic feet of stage and the storage of it alone is a hindrance. - The nostalgia for WCW isn't nearly as strong as people think it is 20+ years after it shut down when a majority of the people who watched it have stopped watching wrestling completely and don't collect. - Rey is underwhelming. The tiers are underwhelming as well. DDP is fine but not really a must have, Hogan drew in zero interest and Warrior is kind of a “cool if we get it but not gonna be upset if we don’t” because he's barely associated with WCW. - The 100 LED lights are going to become an eye sore as they go out over time that's gonna be impossible to ignore. - Nothing about the whole set prior to Steiner feels like it's worth nearly 500 dollars especially when in the best case scenario of it's current trajectory it's just Rey and Steiner with the stage.

You act like there were strictly WWF fans and WCW fans and when WCW died so did all their fans. Is that the case for some? Sure. There were definitely those who were strictly loyal to WCW til the end and never watched WWF, but those were the minority. But when the Monday Night Wars started heating up a vast majority were paying attention to both shows. Watch one, tape the other, or catch the replay. Or flip back and forth depending on the match or segment. Then when WCW started their decline WWF continued to ascend and gained their viewers. A great majority of WWF fans during the Wars have the same nostalgia for the early years of Nitro as the die hard WCW fans. It wasn’t a tribal back then amongst the fans as it is today with AEW and WWE.

One of the (many) skews of reality WWE-produced history has concocted in the 2 decades is the idea that there were two completely separate audiences for WWE and WCW (partially to make the wrestling audience look even larger than it was during the MNW period). Yes, you definitely had some tribalism on both sides, but it was very much the minority. Also, FWIW I don't think the AEW/WWE thing is as tribal in reality as the small percentage of people who act that way online make it appear to be.

I did find the hype around Doink kind of funny... he was never mentioned once in people's previous UE wants/wish-lists - but suddenly became this must-have figure(?). I said at the time: if he was announced/released as part of the regular UE line or something, there'd have probably been an uproar, lol.

Millions of people stopped watching TMNT, GI Joe, MOTU when they were taken off the air. Millions of people hate every Star War that’s not the original trilogy. You don’t have to be engrossed in the modern day iteration of the product to have nostalgia for something and want to buy merchandise. Plus New Gen was a generation before then and even less popular causing millions to stop watching. But there was enough of a fanbase to make that happen. At least for Macho from that era anyway. Nitro and the Monday Night Wars is what brought a lot of the fans back. And tribalism wasn’t prevalent. Yeah you would have a preference and argue with friends which show was better but we all watched and enjoyed both. The discussions were more along the lines of who’s next to jump ship and fantasy matchups.

You really dont seem to understand what tribalism is. However if you truly believe there are just thousands more people who love WCW and are just chomping at the bit to get this and for some reason just haven't done it in the month plus they've had the opportunity and are waiting till the final day to back it. Then I guess we'll find out how true that is in 15 days, but butts to nuts, the numbers don't lie and they lean towards one of our stances.
