I think part of it might be the demographic. I notice that Marvel fans for example are willing to drop more on figures on the secondary market as opposed to someone who collects WWE figures. WWE collectors in general tend to be cheap. Not trying to offend anyone who can't afford expensive figures. I've seen Marvel collectors drop money on figures that are half-assed like 90 percent of the time and are overpriced. It's kind of weird because some people (WWE collectors) are happy to pay a lot more money for preorder figures, especially if you order full sets. It's a bit confusing. I really want this to be made and all the tiers to be unlocked, so I'll be backing this up even if I have to sell off a few things I'm not currently using. See this is the thing I can’t reconcile because people will spend $200 on a figure that was rrp $40 but think $400 for a literally HUGE set is not worth it. Not saying that’s right or wrong, it’s up to people to decide how to spend their money and more power to them but I personally just don’t understand it. But as I say each to their own And don't forget the most important part. They'll complain when the figure comes out for $30 and not buy it because it's shelf warming. Then when it hits $200, they'll complain at not getting a fair shot, but still pay $200. I don't feel bad for anyone who buys these crowdfunds on the secondary market. If you can't afford it, that's a different story and I understand that not everyone has $400 to drop on toys. On another note, we need the Hot Toys demographic here. Those people drop serious cash.

I’m in on this and see it as having value for the price compared to the last Marvel Legends crowdfund (Ghost Rider car) that failed miserably. Heck yeah glad your backing it. But your totally right if you compare this to ghost rider campaign it’s embarrassing smh This Nitro Stage is double the value if you look at the detail and the scale of this thing is perfect! And the potential 5 figures that’s amazing value. Think about that… and Hasbro tried charging $350 crazy

The stigma around wrestling for decades has been that its fans are generally in lower income demographics. That dictates what advertisers advertise during the shows and how expensive those ad slots are. Wrestling is a niche product compared to Star Wars or Marvel, and it's a safe bet that there's less wealth within the collecting community than other brands. I think it's a great project, and I'm sure Mattel's tiers are informed by their own market research and sales data on the line. I think it's at least realistic that we could hit all tiers. But yeah, it's going to be an uphill climb compared to what Haslab projects see. There’s also a “I liked wrestling but grew out of it” mentality v “I love Star Wars, I’ve grown up with it” - wrestling has as you say always been seen as “lower class” blue collar. There’s stories of people not wanting wrestling in their arenas - I believe Herb Abrahams UWF (not the REAL UWF) had their first show cancelled because the venue owner didn’t want wrestling in their venue and was unhappy the venue Booker booked a wrestling show. Speaking of stigmas, it's also that people associate wrestling with being fake and kind of frowned upon. I know people who like Star Wars and Marvel and God knows what else who judge people who like wrestling. Some of these people are the same who ask "You still watch wrestling?, You know that's fake right?" Let's face it, we all like different things and everyone has something they're into. I had an ex gf like that. Good riddance.

Not wanting to derail but I do think there’s a market for super detailed and accurate hot toys style figure but it’s very limited. They did those $300 (or whatever they were) statues of flair, bret etc and they sold but I think the ‘hot toys’ style market for wrestling is maybe limited to 5 people? Shawn, Bret, Flair, Hulk, savage and Warrior (that’s 6 but you get my point).

As Steve said, the creations FAQ has been updated to show the price breakdown for all none US countries. Still struggling to fill the Gaia though. It states RRP for UK is £440 - VAT added only gets to £390 so other £50 for customs? I could live with that after getting a £60 charge for the new gen. I’d be raging mind if got a customs fee on top? The customs charges are 20% vat of the total declared value including p and p etc. over a £135.00 value plus Custons Duty as a certain percentage as over £135.00 value, both of these will be taken by Mattel Creations to pay the UK government directly so when it arrives in the UK for delivery there's nothing else to pay.

I had an ex gf like that. Good riddance. Bret said people will talk about Marlon Brando and say what a great actor he is. But some like bret will but on a great performance and rather than say your a hell of an actor they’ll say “your a fake” Even if people do like wrestling there’s some who do it covertly, and while they’ll watch raw when Noone is around they wouldn’t have a big stage on display no matter how much they like it. Heck even Matt or Brian (the ‘wrestling figure collectors of note’) said in high school or college they still collected but kept them in their closet as they were embarrassed to have them on show. The same stigma doesn’t apply to Star Wars etc - unfairly so - and that does have an impact on these high priced items I see star wars fans complain that they’re now doing things directed to kids, not realising by Lucas’ own admission Star Wars was ALWAYS for kids and they were kids when they first got into it.

Would these projects succeed IF they didn’t reveal which tier was? Let each tier be a surprise and only shown once it hit that mark? I think more ppl would buy if they did it that way.

I remember hearing that as a general rule most crowd funds secure 33% of their funding during the first 48 hours and 33% during the final 48 hours. That may not be the case here though due to the various unlockables.
