I was hoping my pessimism on this would prove unfounded and this would do huge numbers right out of the gate, but sadly I'm still left on the fence.
First day is the second most important day on these things (last day being the most) and if we use Steiner's tier as the "true goal", we're 11% funded.
Hard to see how they get to 5k by next Friday for Hogan. Not that I want that figure, but at least the resale on him would recoup some cost.
I'll back 1 or 2 today but will likely cancel if things are bleak next Friday.

Now 1,024 - this is literally the most exciting thing in Wrestling at the moment… I don’t collect Elites and/or Ultimates but I’m actually tempted it’s that good. Then what do you collect

For international people, would it be possible for American buyers to purchase your set and then ship it out to you? Or does it still give you those custom fees regardless? Just curious... We'd still get customs but they'd be less than what Mattel are charging. It'd be 20% VAT ($80) and 4% customs ($16). Though not everyone gets caught, so this wouldn't apply to everyone. If you assume shipping is maybe $30-50, total would be $530-550. Mattel are charging $628.

Granted pricey, this is still once in a lifetime. Also, for you guys with Twitter please retweet this to Rey Mysterio or Hogan.

Sitting and waiting to see how it does just creates low numbers. Buying, then canceling before it "backs" if it doesnt hit your teir you want makes sense. People will see higher numbers and be more inclined themselves.

Back in 1998/99 I completed my WWF Hasbro collection since having them as a kid in 91/92/93. Never got the mailaways unfortunately. Got every Mattel Retro so far as had waited decades for a line like that and also some ZST, Chella or whatever they are called now. Hasbro Pulse Dungeons & Dragons despite their flaws - needed those. And over the years, Transformers, He-Man, GI Joe/Action Force and Garbage Pail Kids. Edit: I did buy approx 40(?) of Jakks Classic Superstars and others in the line including the real scale ring a few years back now but sold them to let others enjoy them. Edit2: sorry. I also have a full loose set of vintage Star Wars figures but sold most/all of the vehicles/play sets since I didn’t have space to display or store them and also used to have an obscene amount of POTF2 (97-00?) figures, vehicles, play sets etc which have since gone.

I still think they’re gonna add something at some point to get it to atleast 5k. Like Macho last time.

I'm in at 1,031. Paid in 4. C'mon, let's at least get to 9K! I'm okay if Warrior doesn't ship, but DDP and BPP are must haves here.

I use one of those shipping forwarding services from the US to UK, so for me, I'd have ordered on Mattel US anyway (so that I could ship it together with other items and save). But if I didn't have that already set up, there's no way I would have bothered.

I was thinking of this, too, but an issue you face here is that you have to hope the service provider you're using still exists in over a years' time. There's a US forward service called "ShopForMe" that will actually buy stuff on your behalf (and mark it as a gift) but will they exist in 12-18 months? Are they okay with waiting that long between purchasing a product and having it arrive with them (when it arrives with them next year, will they even know who it was ordered for). Stuff like that makes it tricky. The best solution is having a friend/relative in the US, who has a constant address. You can't even provide a hotel address and pop over to collect it yourself, as you've no idea when it'll land (based on last time, people's packages were arriving weeks apart).

I think instead of all the LED lights they could’ve cut some out for an announce table with Bobby Heenan or bischoff I wonder if they could do something like that as a RSC Exclusive?

I'm genuinely confused why people are down on the Warrior. His Nitro debut was a huge deal. I still have it recorded on VHS. His Halloween Havoc attire is probably my favorite look of his career but the match was awful. His debut on Nitro though, despite what the slander DVD said, was a time and place moment for fans, essentially 8 years in the making. And the duster was awesome, so maybe not seeing that is turning people off, but that's a Defining Moment for both Warrior and Nitro.

Two decades of WWE-spun narrative that WCW was nothing but a hot mess and Warrior a totally unhinged performer who was never as big as he saw himself. I get wanting someone who had a bigger role in WCW in that slot. But his WCW debut was a huge moment for anyone who had been a wrestling fan prior to the wrestling boom, and to me the jeans/duster look is far more memorable than any of the ring gear he wore during his handful of matches. But let's get to 5k and then we'll worry about how we get this sweet Warrior.

I use a service that's been around for quite a while so feels a little more stable, but they don't do the gift marking stuff and charge you upfront for VAT (unless the value is over a certain amount, then you can risk it). You don't get huge savings in the end, but a small saving and access to products that are otherwise difficult to get makes it just about worth it.

WWE working so hard to destroy an IP that THEY freaking own is the best example of a business cutting off its nose to spite its face. Even as recently as when they had Sting on the roster, they were burying him as a little fish, wannabe, B-league player, finally in the big time, etc. Truly petty.

Of course he’s gonna say that because they want this to fund without having to add to it. They could seriously just add a ring skirt or announce table and that won’t cost them but a couple dollars. Hogan and Rey are already molded figures so they’re only gonna cost Mattel just a few dollars for each set sold. So that leaves the Stage at let’s say $350 ……Id say Mattel is making that stage for $100-$125….So they have room to add more. All I’m saying is if on May 6th this has 4500 backers thsts over 2 million dollars that Mattel has on hold with everyone’s credit card. I just don’t see them not securing that.

If he said they were going to add more stuff, people would just hold out until they did. Mattel isn't going to until they have to.

I'm not sure he'd outright state that though, if they had any sort of backup plan to add more. He'd just avoid the question. There was no real reason to actually offer a response (given he's rightfully selective about what information is given), unless it was an absolutely set and fixed situation.
