Does this bother anyone else? Mattel did such an amazon job on creating figures that were in scale for years... Then ultimate's come out and they just F it. articulation is more important than scale. AJ styles has a bigger body than Bradshaw/JBL... He is thicker than Stone Cold Steve Austin ultimate. Jeff Hardy first ultimate torso is bigger/thicker than Elite Hollywood Hogan.. Shawn Michaels has a bigger/thicker torso than Undertaker Elites.. The scale of these are awful..
Not only that some of these body parts on the ultimate's looks really strange. I will give them credit they are fixing/improving them. but some of these bodies just look awful. Especially the jacked body type used on roman/goldbeg/rock/cena and NOW EDDIE GUERRERO! The torso of these bodies just look awful compared to the elites and they are def not in scale by any means... Not only that to top part of the torso are extremely wide and they get really narrow with a smaller waist... The arms on these torso just looks awkward. Considering we have Hasbro who has PERFECTED articulation with silhouette and shape. Feels a bit lazy considering how detail oriented mattel have been. I would expect this from Jakks or Jazware, but not from Mattel..
Just wanted to rant because I hope they would fix these issues...

It’s a completely different line. There’s gonna be some differences in scaling. Basics aren’t in scale with elites either.

The idea that any aspect of the line is perfectly in scale has been out the window for years. Generally speaking, the big guys are big and the small guys are small. But there's variance within the line and that's just something we are going to have to deal with.
I don't love the Ultimate torsos, and haven't from the start. They really need a smaller torso. But if they didn't sculpt it for Styles or Hardy, I don't think we'll see one any time soon. I really only buy UEs if I plan on displaying the figure with the entrance gear on. The figures overall have been great, but there's absolutely room for improvement.

Hell, off the top of my head these wrestlers Elite figures are taller than their basics.
Sting (all his basics besides TRU Network Spotlight and WalMart Fan Central? 2-Pack with Undertaker are shorter)
Hitman (since b14 have been taller than his basic)
Orton (since Basic’s changed articulation)
McIntyre (same as Orton)
Anvil

Do I like it? No. Will I live with it? Apparently. Should we want them to be closer to scale? I think so.

It is straight up silly to compare basics with UE’s.
Yes the scale is wrong and the reason why I don’t do UE’s really.
They basically are Deluxe Aggression. (I am sure people were defending them back then and that’s ok)
Another issue is the skin painted on the torso.
But the point of the OP is the main thing - they are not in scale within their own line - which in turn is supposed to be the superior line.
Scale is what made us all jump over to Mattel, but the simps nowadays are so in deep they do not even realise, I also think the MOC collectors don’t even care which is another reason since they end up with the highest valued piece in the long run.

It depends. However, I think the conversion is all over the place. Scott Hall and DDP have a ripped torso while their UE share the same torsos as AJ and Jeff Hardy. It looks so odd. They need to create more torsos for the UE.

And that Warrior was actually taller than his elites. lol

To be fair, JBL, Hogan and Taker Elites torsos are/can be construed as undersized. Taker & Hogan still have bigger waists. They did make a smaller torso for '03 Hardy and AJ. Shame they used it on Razor, but it would look would wonderful for future HBKs.Especially the jacked body type used on roman/goldbeg/rock/cena and NOW EDDIE GUERRERO! The UE He-Man torso looks ridiculous even on Rock & Cena, but it's the equivalent of the torso we've seen on Elites and basics. (Basic Eddies have had that body forever.) Heavyweight UEs do need more variety of parts. Considering we have Hasbro who has PERFECTED articulation with silhouette and shape. I wouldn't say they've perfected articulation. Hell, I'd argue they'd can't make up their minds with what articulation scheme they're going to run with. They can be all over the place.

They’re actually probably more in scale since the torsos seem to be a smidge taller. Half of Mattel figures are 2/3 legs

Some of the u.e torsos are larger than they should be , i would agree . Amazon hbks seems a little wide. But it doesnt bother me a lot.

Personally, I could not care any less. As long as Andre’s bigger than guys like Savage, and guys like Rey are little, that’s good enough for me. Unless they’re quite noticeably out of scale, I would have to look it up to tell you if Savage was taller than Warrior, or if the Rock is taller than Austin.
When you grew up on Hasbros and LJNs, having any differences in scale whatsoever still seems like some futuristic novelty.
IMO, it bugs me more that everyone is portrayed as way, way more ripped than they actually were.
