Inoki or Monsoon would have made this so much better. They could have released the referee version elsewhere.

Not for me but packaged beautifully
Both the inside with the 3D inoki popping out and the mag style cover etc.
There’s some real care and attention put into that

I’m gonna grab one for myself. Having a boxing Ali is the only reason I’m gonna try. The ref body is a bit too buff and I don’t need a ref Ali, but still a decent set.

Like many, I think it’s cool and great packaging etc but it just doesn’t give me any kind of nostalgia hit. Not sure how many boxing fans collect action figures and not sure how many Ali fans are still around.
It will sell out because people will buy to flip even if they don’t care for it but I think this is/will be the most undesirable SDCC exclusive yet, for genuine wrestling collectors.

I am honestly relieved it’s something I don’t want. Not having to deal with the instant sell-out stress …priceless. I think this is exactly what a SDCC exclusive should be- something not essential to someone’s collection.

Like I mentioned in my edit in other post, I would rather have an ultimate MDM with cloth suit. To me, an ultimate suited figures is pointless when you won't even see the torso. The only thing you'll see is the double jointed elbows, and jointed toes. Elites have the elbows now, and the feet I couldnt care less about. (Never cared for toe articulation). Not sure I wanna spend 30 on that. However, I would spend 45 on a wrestling gear with cloth goods. I would absolutely HATE to have MDM first ultimate to be locked into a molded suit IMHO. I get where you're coming from, but I also think stuff like Mene Gene/Jimmy Hart etc. makes sense for he CC. No doubt |

It’s meant to be his look from the Inoki fight, with the date even listed and Inoki artwork on the inside, but they give him red trim socks…  I’ll never understand how small details like this get messed up, but oh well…Looking forward to getting the referee Ali. It will make a nice addition to my 80s shelf. Good news Hey Steve, hope all is well. I know you and the team are excited for SDCC. Question about the revealed exclusive. Bill has shared images on his Instagram with Ali containing the Navy socks, whereas the promotion video with bull and packaging designer, as well as all other videos and images show the red socks. Any insight to what will be released? Black striped socks on final product.  |

I am probably getting one, but not two, assuming that I can get one. After waiting 'in line' for 10 minutes last year only to see it sell out just before I could check out, I am not too optimistic.
If I can get one - cool - but really I only want the ref one for the WM1 connection. I wouldn't care about the boxing Ali, unless we do get Inoki at some point.

I don’t see how anyone can be upset about this unless you’re a completionist that doesn’t want it. A harder to get figure that will sell out fast and go for a lot more on secondary that you don’t even want? Sounds ok to me. I hope I snag one at launch.

There's no nostalgia here for me, necessarily, but Muhammad Ali is one of those people in history that sort of transcend the sport.
I'll hem and haw about this all week, but I'm definitely leaning on the idea of getting it and maybe flipping the referee one for someone who may want it to try and offset the cost a bit.

I wouldn't call it a waste of a spot as Ali is a big enough name for the crossover appeal. Since SDCC is usually some sort of celebrity type crossover, I would rather have had a Cyndi Lauper/Lou Albano 2-pack, but I can wait until next year for that. |

I’m not that into boxing, but as it was stated a few posts above this one of mine, Muhammed Ali transcends the sport.
The packaging is what makes this for me. Such a sweet presentation “almost” makes me want to try for one. The pic of Inoki at Ali’s feet is cool, but it’s the image of The Greatest raising the hand of The Greatest in victory that makes this more tempting than I anticipated.

You know what would have been a great Ali exclusive? A 2-pack of Superman vs Muhammed Ali.  Based on that old giant Treasury Edition comic from the ‘70s. |
