As we all know, "Big" John Studd was the victor in that Royal Rumble, but looking back at that show, should Hulk Hogan have been the winner??
Did fans care that Studd was the winner??
It just seemed that Savage, Hogan, Boss Man and Akeem got over looked in the middle of the show to have Studd win the Rumble.
Thoughts??

He should not have won, however Big John Studd and VKM in 99 are the only guys whose Rumble win record is 100% as they never competed in another Rumble match.

100 percent Hulk Hogan should have won this, it would have added even more fire to the nuclear blast of jealousy that Randy Savage was building towards him. Also, when you think about it, it would have added an extra little bit of drama to the 90 and 91 Rumbles as well. Hogan winning in 1990 after winning it in 89 and then taking the title would have made Warriors task seem even more difficult. A year later, we have Hogan winning in 1991, but that proves it is no guarantee that it means he will win the title at WrestleMania VII.

I didnt mind Studd winning. Nice nod to em during his comeback run here Plus no Pukester posing to end the PPV. That's a big plus in my book

When the hulkster dropped the leg on him to pin him at WM5? It was GLORIOUS. BATB 96 & him ending his reigns in WCW was good but man WM5 was fββking magnificent πͺπ΄π‘ π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£

im glad studd won, i was hoping for him or andre to win it
they set it up to have 3 big moments in the rumble. the beginning with jake/andre, then the mega-powers thing in the middle, then studd at the end with akeem/dibiase

Probably, cause the air in the building got sucked out the minute Hogan was gone. But, since he eliminated Macho, I'm glad he didn't win. I did like the story of DiBiase trying to buy the win, after purchasing #30, and still not winning the Rumble.

Hogan didn't need to win it. His story with Savage was played out just fine, though I see the viewpoint of having him win to further push Savage over the edge.
I believe I remember hearing on Prichards podcast that Studd won to try and jump start his comeback and he was supposed to start a big feud with Andre post-WM 5.

Lets face it, had Hogan not charged in there and eliminated Savage with that big body of his, Savage would have found a way to eliminate himself within the next five minutes anyway
