Every time I see people talking about how much the WWE should be allowed to honor Owen's legacy I think of that one tweet that got that one celeb banned from twitter. Not saying the one but honestly, if you are in any way directly responsible for someone's death, then you really shouldn't be expected to be allowed permission to honor their memory. If you wanted to honor them you could have kept them alive and I'm genuinely shocked we are still having this conversation in the year of our lord 2024.
It'll never happen. Vince or no Vince. As long as WWE is WWE no amount of management or ownership changes is ever going to change the minds of Martha Hart or her kids.
Accept that sometimes the thing you want is never ever going to happen and move on.

I did wonder that too. With it being new owners and all that...but yeah It'll probably never happen.

At the same time people shouldn’t be jumping down people’s chit for inquiring and hoping it happens. We are going through something historic in the company with McMahon gone. I’d love to see that fencemended, that bridge repaired, figure or no figure.

If I go to a restaurant and get food poisoning, then I’m never going to that restaurant again. If they put up a sign saying they’re under new management, I’m still not going back to that restaurant. Now times that analogy by a million when it comes to Martha and the WWE.

Unless the WWE does the right thing and offers to donate 100% of the proceeds from all Owen merchandise to the foundation his wife established in his name, I just don't see it happening. Even with Vince gone, we all know at the end of the day their main priority is money so good luck with that kind of a goodwill gesture. You have to remember that the company was negligent when it came to his death. The lawsuit may have been settled outside of the court room, but the evidence is damning. They didn't hire their usual stunt coordinator and instead went with the lowest bidder all to save a few pennies. If you are part of his family, why the hell would you ever want to give them the opportunity to further line their fat pockets off the death of a beloved husband and father? If those currently running the ship truly care about extending that olive branch to have Owen back under the WWE/WWF umbrella, they need to realize they shouldn't expect to make a single cent in return which sounds pretty fair to me.

Or WWE frees up their claim on Owen's looks so other companies can honor his full career, the looks where most were exposed to Owen in the first place. If this is all we're really talking about, one party preventing others from properly celebrating the man. Unless Owen's estate has decided not to relive that time at all, at which case this whole discussion is moot anyway.

WWE is directly responsible for Owen's death. I don't blame Martha and her children one bit for not wanting to do business with them.

Seeing the rift healed would be a dream but I understand how Martha feels.

To honor Owen Hart and his legacy, donations to the Owen Hart Foundation are always welcome (instructions can be found on their website here) . Owen Hart merchandise is also available on Pro Wrestling Tees, with profits also being dedicated to the OHF.

Its a forum to talk about wrestling figures, i never understood all the virtue signalling. Owen will probably never get made in mattel form but if members want to talk about it then who cares, its harmless, let them dream.

Least something to talk about.

I googled it and his wife said “Hopefully the Dark Side of the Ring doc will show his fans why I never want anything to do with that company.” So that’s that, I guess. Even if Vince, Dunn, Vince’s shady WWE lawyer that drew up all them sketchy NDAs, and all of Vince’s goons from back then are gone, the company is still the company.
Maybe Rock and his childhood friend Nick Kahn (I’m being pedantic there) can allow AEW to use Owen’s 90s likeness. But why are there only like 2 action figures and one’s a chase or something? WTF? That seems a bit ridiculous. “We only want x number of fans to own this specific Owen figure.” That’s wild to me.

Acclaim had previously developed several WWF games so it wasn't as if they were some tiny company that could fly under the radar.

I think WWE are more protective of their IP now than they were then and/or may not have had a clear understanding what they could and could not claim as their IP. I know when they fire someone these days they give them a list of things they cannot use when working the indies or other promotions which includes logos, catchphrases, names of moves, certain gestures, or basically anything that could be reasonably associated with that character.
