Maybe like $40-50 for silver and purple chase DiBiase is probably the most I overpaid for a Mattel. I have found practically everything I’ve ever needed at retail with the exception of that fig. I’m still holding out for one around $60 😂😂

For me, not so much "scalped," but willingly paying over for whatever reason. What comes to mind... hmm...
1. E16 Kevin Nash - never saw it at retail, paid $100 MOC for it three years later
2. Elite Demolition - All three members plus two extra Smashes, one extra Ax, & one extra Crush to customize different face paint, to match the Jakks designs, also three years after initial release, paid $500 MOC
3. Legends King Kong Bundy - Never bought it when it was live, bought it recently while good replacement parts are currently available (L21 Andre & GH3 Typhoon), paid $250 MOC
4. L9 chase Ted DiBiase - never saw it at retail, bought it on the 'Bay as soon as L10 dropped, paid $100 MOC
That's all I've paid ridiculous money for. Otherwise, I copped every other fig when they dropped for MSRP.

Here in the Uk 🇬🇧 we basically get scalped on every figure we buy. Especially rare and chases.

Almost every time I've bought a figure from TRU. Their markup here in Canada was crazy.
Other than that the only time I ever really overpaid for a figure I really wanted was back when E16 came out and I caved and bought Kevin Nash for $39.99 CAD. Back then I thought to myself "what have I done?", but now I know I got lucky given how much it sells for these days.

As much as I complain about Walmart exclusives I'm glad I live in America, it sounds like collectors in literally any other country are getting completely hosed

I generally stubbornly refuse to buy from scalpers. If I missed out on a figure and return literal years later, that's fine. If you drive from store to store and buy up entire stock and list them on Facebook for triple the price, I just don't buy it. Living in Canada, my only option to get Ultimate Eddie was to pay $100. Eddie was tough to find stateside too, I still haven't seen on one store shelves I just got lucky enough to have a friend of a friend grab it for me somewhere else in the state. I only got my Eddie thanks to a friend of mine I met at Target on the hunt. Works with the local PD, we got to talking in the fig aisle, I tell him that the Walmart I left had plenty of Bischoffs left, he tells me another one stocked Eddie and Rey. Left with both of them and Easy E from my first store. Months later I helped the same guy cop Scott Steiner from a Neighborhood Market and he helped me with a Jada SF Ken at Target. Helps to have good friends like that. On topic though, most I paid for a "scalper" was $45 for a Coliseum Collection Terry Funk (Didn't need Hogan). Not too far off the mark

Most I paid was $80 for a defining moments wm7 warrior a few years back. No regrets, the figure was an older release that was hard to come by (this was before the UE came out). I get a lot more bothered by recent releases being scalped on Ebay than older hard to get figures...not even sure I'd call it scalping at that point even.

Not too far off the mark yeah I was iffy on the CC Hogan as well. Glad I have it though, im committed to getting all of those figures now

Paid £100 for a Ted Dibiase legends 9 figure. When I was first getting into collecting I was too hasty to add to my collection and I ended up paying about £35 for a Liv Morgan from Elite 75. You could get it for £10 maximum on eBay now. I won't mention names but the website I got it from (which are still around) usually have everything for at least £10 more than anyone else, but I wasn't knowledgeable about the right websites to get it from then

I'm holding out for a coliseum collection release at this point

I'm holding out for a coliseum collection release at this point Well it was just a regular version. I haven't seen a carded chase Legends 9 Dibiase for less than £130. Yes that could happen hopefully. Ultimate articulation silver suit Dibiase. It's that Liv Morgan purchase and having to pay full whack for it that still irks me a bit. That target exclusive item is what hooked me in to get it before it gets swooped up. Unfortunately if you don't know the right places to get figures from there are websites out there that see people like me coming. When I see that Liv Morgan on eBay for £10 with no bidders and ten minutes left on the auction it makes me want to bang my head against the wall.

If it's worth it to you, I wouldn't consider it being scalped. I paid $80 for the Ultimate Edition RA RVD. It was worth it because I never saw him in stores. I paid $60 or $70 for Elite 48 Cactus Jack. Again, worth it. And for the record, I'm not a scalper. The only time I've sold figures is when I regrettably sold my collection, twice. Took a loss both times. Damn, I have RVD on preorder at Walmart. I haven't been as active on the boards, is it another case of Walmart not fulfilling preorders? I can't speak for your preorder, but Walmart has had nothing but issues fulfilling preorders. Best of luck to you. No sarcasm.

I still have one on preorder as well, and has been that way since like October or November IIRC. Pretty sure it’s gonna end up getting cancelled eventually as Mattel is already done with the Ruthless Aggression line and has moved onto the Monday Night War releases, but I haven’t cancelled my RVD yet just out of curiosity as to what will happen with my preorder

Anytime I've preordered on Walmart, it was canceled. There were times the preorders were canceled the same day they came in stock online, and I was able to order them. As far as Mankind and Eddie, I'll try to preorder, I'll hunt for a bit, but I've accepted the fact that I may have to resort to eBay.

I really hope I don't have to pay eBay prices, those are both must have figures for me so I don't want to get scalped on both

I got Chief Jay for $700-something. In hindsight, seems like an absolute steal cause I've seen them go for over 2K. On a more normal level, I end up overpaying for any of the Walmart exclusives I want for both the WWE and AEW lines. My Walmarts are like the worst in the country and it's just worth the extra $10-15 or so to never have to deal with stepping foot in those stores ever again.

That Strongbow figure is a complete mystery to me, I get it's rare but I can't fathom shilling out 2 grand for any figure. Shame that figure will never come out though, id imagine it also means Wahoo McDaniel is a no-go for Mattel

I'm shocked the Dibiase -- I saw it, and had no idea it would get that expensive.
