I don't really care for DiCaprio, but I ing hate Johnny Depp so yeah. They're both two of the best actors of our generation, but Depp could play any role possible. He could play a convincing 14-year-old girl. No, he couldn't.

To be honest, I ing loved the Departed, but sat there yelling at the screen "Kill the prettyboy." Cant stand Leo, except in Whats Eating Gilbert Grape. So Ill go with Depp.

I am pretty sure Brad Pitt or someone like that could have played George Jung

I am pretty sure Brad Pitt or someone like that could have played George Jung Johnny Depp by far. He can transform himself to fit any type of character and can bring excitement to a film that wouldn't be as great without him. DiCaprio can't transform to any character. He along with Matt Damon, play just about the same character types for each movie with little or no exception. And if you want proof Depp is better go see his performance in Sweeney Todd. teh departed all that was was Scorcese's movie to get an oscar and nothing more, big names, big budget, etc.

Brad Pitt plays the same damn roll in almost every movie he has made in the last 7 years. A cool pretty boy who is extremely mellow. George Jung could only be played by Johnny Depp. His personality, charm, and overall demeanor is parallel to George Jung. If you watched interviews of George you would understand what I mean. I'm sick of people discrediting Johnny Depps acting ability and say Pirates made him. As someone else mentioned Depp's best work came previous to Pirates.

Johnny ing Depp. I love his characters so much. The way they are all different says a lot about his ability. This reminds me, I need to go see Sweeney Todd.

I'm sick of people discrediting Johnny Depps acting ability and say Pirates made him. As someone else mentioned Depp's best work came previous to Pirates. First off lemme preface this by saying how much I hate you for making me bash Johnny Depp, because I do like him and I do think he is one of the better actors out there today, BUT you are just blinded by fanboy-itis. Blow was a great movie, but it was not Casablanca, a lot of actors could have pulled it off, hindsight is 20/20 and of course you cant see anyone else doing it BECAUSE 1) your a Depp fan boy and 2) the movie was done brilliantly with Depp in it. Before this movie came out you had NO IDEA what or who George Jung was, anyone could have interviewed him and learned his mannerisms down to a T like Depp did, could they have pulled it off as great as he did? WHO KNOWS, but it could have been done, Blow didnt win 13 Oscars and transcend cinema, it was a solid movie, thats it. No one said his best work was Pirates or came after Pirates, my point is and still is, that Pirates brought him back to the acting forefront and put him back in that top echelon of actors...which is 100% true because he was out of acting for 2 years and the movie he did before that was the MASTERPIECE "From Hell" He is a fantastic actor, one of the best out there, but every actor needs that movie to jumpstart his career or revitalize it...Pacino had it with Scent of a Woman after terrible 80's and 90s movies, Deniro needed Goodfellas to bring him back from such beauties as "We're no Angels" or "Jackknife" I am sorry if this upsets the Depp fan-love, but its just the truth, no one says he sucks or that Pirates was his best work, but comparing him to Leonardo DiCaprio who doesnt play the same role constantly (Blood Diamond/The Departed/Gangs of NY etc) is just not right, frankly they shouldnt be compared at all, it should be Damon/DiCaprio and Depp and whomever.

Well said, Ralph.
I love DiCaprio but goddamn he should've stepped aside and let Danny Day do his thing in Gangs of New York, DDL made him look so bad. Diaz should've got locked in her trailer.

Yeah well Gangs of NY, is my favorite Scorcese and that says a lot considering I am Italian and a wanna be Gangsta, but Bill Cutting STOLE that movie, Leo was good and all, but Jesus, it was DDL the whole time, should have won an Oscar for it.
I watch random movies with DDL in it now because of Gangs

Yeah you guys are actually wrong, its Leo, who is the best actor out there right now. People forget how boring/terrible movies Depp had before Pirates, I think his last good one was Scissorhands. Donnie Brasco never got the attention it deserved, it was solid not because of Depp but because of Pacino. Which is another nod to Pacino in the Deniro/Pacino battle. Depp was kinda blah in that movie. You look at Leo over the last 8 years, compared to Depp, he is better, even with the resurgence of Depp's career. The Departed and Blood Diamond alone are better than any 2 movies Johnny Depp has done. And honestly, comparing them 2 is tough because they dont take similar roles, if you compared Matt Damon and Leo, that'd make sense. Good job telling everyone who has an "opinion" that is different than yours that thier wrong.
