I don't play with my figs but that is probably more because I do not have the time. I used to get a bit embarassed when my wife thought she would be funny and front me out about my collecting habits. But it backfired on her because the more she did it the less embarassed I became about it and ended up meeting a fellow collector from it. Also, I was surprised at how many of my friends ended up being cool about it.

It's fun, everytime a girl comes into my room she says "aw you play with dolls".
But they say that in a cute way.[/color]

yeah I do I've never met any other 18 year olds (not counting anyone on these forums) that plays with figs. My mom messes with me about it, but my girlfriend knows and she's cool about it. She's the only girlfriend I've ever told about it, and she even helps me look for them. I would never tell my friends though. My little group of friends, well, we kind of have a habit of busting each others balls about every little thing. We're never serious, but we make fun of each other to the point that it seems serious, and if they ever found out, I would never hear the end of it. I keep them in my closet. I have a drawer in there for each brand in my fed.

Not at all. My girlfriend makes fun of them all the time, but she collects those Brayer horses or whatever they're called, which is no better.

No, but it is sorta akward whensomebody walks in and Kurt angle is laying on john cena. It's a lot more awkward when Karen walked in on that in real life.

No....I'm 23 and my parents think it's childish to collect figures and I say this: "Hey, I could be doing worse things! I'm not an alcoholic, I've never done drugs and I don't commit crimes! Figures are one of my hobbies and it keeps me out of trouble! If collecting figures is the worst thing I do with my life then I think we did ok!" Word for word, oh I'm 19 not 23 but yeah, that's exactly what i say.

Near enough everyone I meet gets to hear about the latest wrestling figures from me, whether they're old friends or if I just met them that day. You have to be proud of everything you choose to do or it's a waste of time and just going to ruin your life.
To anyone who embarrassed - either give up collecting and do as your told to by people who don't give a toss anyway. OR grow up and be proud of the stuff you enjoy doing, decent people will always find it more interesting to hear you talk about something you're passionate about than watch you pretend to be someone you're not. The only people that would take the piss out of collecting wrestling figures are immature 12-15 year olds who are struggling with finding their own identity and try to shift their awkwardness onto other people.

I'm not embarrassed, but I'm not much of a collector either. I've got all the BnBs and some micros and that's about it for current ranges. I've got one RA figure, which I'll get to in a bit. My two best friends are two brothers, and one of them started collecting RAs at the end of last year. He's stopped again now after getting about 20 figures. But the one RA I have is a Kurt Angle, which I bought because we were going to build up a decent roster of RA style figures. Then he stopped getting them and I'm not a huge fan of the RA style so that was that. He was a huge Hasbro collector which I still mock him about. For some reason, he decided in 1999 when he was like 14 to collect WWF Hasbro figures. I have no idea why. At the time, Austin and Rock were popular, and this guy was buying up old Hacksaw and Doink figures. And over the years, he's occasionally bought rare Hasbros on eBay. He always used to start a federation with them but he would only ever do Royal Rumbles. He'd have these plans for WrestleMania but he'd always get bored and just do another Rumble. He even started to have stupid rules where it would take three Royal Rumbles to decide a champion or something. It'd be a running joke from me. "How's the Federation going? What are you on, your twelfth Royal Rumble?"
I recently found a bunch of my old BCAs and mini rings and TTL figures, and I remember being embarrassed about the last set of TTLs I bought. It was a set of ten figures with a ring from Argos, and I bought it during my first year at university (2001). I also bought a PS2 that same day, and I remember hiding the wrestlers so my flatmates didn't see them. But just before that, when I was in sixth form (the British equivalent of the last year of high school in America) I don't think I was embarrassed because I remember my friends knowing about it.
So I don't know. Honestly, I think collecting figures is a bit weird. I see some of the collections on here and I think "wow, that guy is a huge weirdo" but at the same time I'm jealous because I'd love to have that many figures. My girlfriend finds it strange, but she doesn't mind and she always looks through the figures to see who she recognises.
Watching wrestling in general is weird, it's not as "cool" as it was a decade ago. Also weird - reading comic books, which is another of my hobbies (not superhero comic books though, I think they're stupid, with very few exceptions). But I don't care that they're weird, really. I do get embarrassed buying wrestling figures from non-geek shops, like traipsing around to different Argos branches asking to see their stock. I always think I should pretend I'm buying them as a present for a young relative, but I've only ever done that Argos search twice - and both times I was wearing these stupid shorts so I was already dead in the water.
I'm going to my hometown tonight to visit my dad in hospital. He can only have two people in the room with him at a time, so it's going to be done in relays. I'm thinking of taking some figures to play with whilst waiting, but I think I'm a tad too embarrassed to do that in front of a bunch of relatives I barely know and friends of my dad (old Irish guys that I don't know). I wouldn't mind it too much but I think my dad would get embarrassed if his friends asked him why his adult son was playing with wrestling figures.
