MMAMANIA:
“…. If the UFC wants me to fight Lesnar, I’ll do it for sure…. Lesnar was impressive [against Heath Herring at UFC 87]. He showed confidence in his standup striking and completely dominated Heath Herring…. I try to never underestimate any of my opponents but there’s really nothing that worries me too much with Brock Lesnar. I know it could be a tough fight, but, you know, I train hard and I will be ready for this one too. I am hungry.”
Cheick Kongo talks about a potential heavyweight showdown with Brock Lesnar at UFC 91 in Portland, Ore., at the Rose Garden Arena on November 15. In short, he’s not scared of the mammoth former highly decorated collegiate national wrestling champion. Let’s just hope the “French Sensation” has polished his takedown defense since the loss to Carmelo Marrero at UFC 64: “Unstoppable” back in 2006.

I'd like to see this fight, I am excited I'll get to see Brock fight again before the year is up if this does happen.

Brock Lesnar is like, the exact terrible matchup for Kongo.
I'd predict Lesnar in a similar beating to the one he gave to Heath Herring.

If Kongo can keep the fight standing it will be an entertaining fight. But his takedown defense is horrible...Brock I can say with confidence can pretty much take any fighter in the UFC down to the ground. So as Kliquid said I see this fight looking like the Heath Herring fight.

What part of Kongo is bad for Lesnar? His standup? I'd bet money that Kongo is on his back in less than a minute in EVERY round.

There's not a chance in hell Kongo could stuff Lesnars take downs. Lesnar can take down any HW with ease, period. ANY. One bum rush by Lesnar and this fight would end up looking a lot like the Herring fight, except you won't be able to see the damage on Kongos face as easily (...what?) Once on the ground, Lesnars GNP would be far too much. Kongo is lost on the ground. He's not exactly a guy to pull a submission off his back, so he'd basically be eating shot after shot. Plus, I honestly feel Lesnar had fun last fight and would probably attempt more subs to prove the "critics" wrong this time around.
This is a terrible matchup for Kongo.

If it happens, I predict Kongo/Lesnar to be for the #1 Contendership, or if not, the winner faces either Gonzaga or the winner of a Gonzaga/Valasquez matchup.
That said, if Brock improves from the Herring fight to this fight as much as he improved from the Mir fight to the Herring fight, it's gonna be a long night for Kongo.
Brock may want to stand a bit, which could give Kongo the opportunity to KO or TKO, and there is always the opportunity that Brock will eat big leather when shooting for a takedown, which'll also cause a KO or TKO.
But once Brock executes a successful takedown, Kongo is going to be more or less at his mercy.
I don't see how this fight is any different from Herring/Lesnar. Kongo is good, but at heart he's a puncher with less-than-stellar ground game.
While I'd be moderately interested to see this fight, the prospect of Lesnar fighting Gonzaga would get me much more excited TBH.

Gonzaga vs. Lesnar sounds good but come on...Lesnar is still new to the sport..let the guy get a few wins under his belt before sending him to the wolves everytime he comes off of a win.

Eh, Gonzaga is very over rated. I think Lesnar would take him down, and as long as he could avoid the submissions...he could GnP Gonzaga. I think his competition is Valasquez, Werdum. No one is going to keep Lesnar standing up. If he wants, he'll take you down, simple as that. The way to beat Brock, is off your back, while eating shots. You need to grab an arm, his back, or an ankle (a'la Mir) and submit him. It's no easy task, he's just freakishly strong.

Herring was able to out-wrestle Kongo...how well do you think Lesnar should do against him? If Lesnar can take the fight to the ground and watch for the submissions (which he should be able to) there is no reason he will not win the fight.

i personally am favouring kongo, the man is just a beast of power. as everyone else has said, his ground game is his biggest weakness but i still personally doubt lesnar; i can see him making a wrong move

In fact, I don't think there's a heavyweight in the world who is.

In fact, I don't think there's a heavyweight in the world who is. Agreed 100%. Even if Lesnar was to make a "wrong move," I don't see Kongo having the presence of mind to capitalize on it. His ground game leaves a lot to be desired and I honestly don't see Kongo looking for an arm bar, working for it. When you can't identify that someone is leaving something open, you're in a lot of trouble on the ground, and that's what Kongo seems to do. He's not someone that recognizes that. Brock Lesnar is FAR too strong to just happen to catch. (and please don't say "then what did Mir do?) Mir is one of the better JJ guys at HW. He was searching for a submission. One isn't going to fall into Kongo's lap. Kongo's best chance to beat Lesnar? Run away and look to knock him out. If he gets taken down...the fight's over.

The other problem with Lesnar is he moves like a god damn welterweight...when I saw him charge out from the gate and do a running flying knee? i was like WHOA!!!
As others have said the only fighters Brock SHOULD have problems with are those who are extremely confident off their back. The only one I see being able to give Lesnar some trouble in the UFC's very weak HQ division is Gonzaga and Big Nog.

Kongo's only chance. Is a if Lesnar shoot's and Kongo hit's a knee. I am way drunk (5:10 pacific time) and that is what Kos, Fitch,Swick, and Bobby's (drunk passed out ass agree on.) Kongo can win with Lesnar dropping his head and catching a knee. Faber agree's. I love this little bastard.
Edit: I will put some pictures of me and Faber up soon. Because he was up in Seattle today training in my home gym. And promoting a local MMA show. Need auto's from him. Hit me up before 2 pm pacific time. I will wake up at 10 pacific time. And take what you bro's need.

Kongo is not worried... Heath wasn't worried and look what happened to him. If the fight happens, I'd put my money on Brock. Kongo hated it when Heath charged at him, and Brock will do the same thing. I think Lesnar will take him down, and GnP a victory.

If Kongo had something that looked like a ground game, he might have a chance with Brock. When Brock takes him down, Kongo is screwed
