I agree with Orton, I think the style of wrestling nowadays that's becoming popular just doesn't have a lot of appeal, especially lasting appeal.
If you need to throw 3 FINISHers at an opponent before they're actually finished...how does the move mean anything anymore?
If you dive off a cage...and then the opponent dives off the cage...and then there's interference and the interfering stars start jumping off the cage at the two in the ring...umm...who cares anymore?
Then if you have the heel break character and shake the hand of their opponent and raise their hand in victory...multiple times, in multiple matches, from multiple stars...does anyone feel the heat of the match or find this special, and cool and different anymore?
You have moments like the Curtain Call, and Superfly off the cage and someone KICKING OUT OF THE ATOMIC LEG DROP...NOOOOOOO....that were these special moments that'd urge you to keep tuning in so you don't miss whatever they cook up next and you never know when or where something will happen...and now that's just becoming standard fare...
Every episode can't be the season finale. Every scene can't have a M. Night Shyamalan twist.

Out of all of the wrestlers in the world: Who do you think has had more success in the WWE than in the Indys? Who do you think has had more success in the Indys than in the WWE? Who do you think could have more success in the Indys than in the WWE? Who do you think could have more success in the WWE than in the Indys? I think like 90% of guys have more success in WWE than anywhere else, once you've even just touched WWE, especially nowadays with televised developmental, you've suddenly got way more star power. I would say Asuka and Shinsuke, have gone from the types of stars that are very popular in their home countries and to hardcore wrestling fans to being considered the best in the biggest wrestling company in the world. That is a pretty huge skyrocket. Shinsuke is the face of this month's PPV. I think Jeff Jarrett went from being a moderately big star to the HHH of the second most well known wrestling company for years. If we are considering TNA an Indy, that is. Hmm...I think the Indys are a great place for big guy personalities in smaller stature bodies, maybe like The Ascension? Those guys were super heroes in NXT and Stardust bumbling goons on the main roster. I read an interview with Low-Ki this week saying that with the current structure of WWE and NXT he'd have a very different run there now and I have to agree, the guys they push now like AJ, Joe and Balor...he can put on an amazing show with them. He came in still at a pretty big man dominated company but the recent shift and loss of a lot of their older, larger stars and emergence of hard-kicking high flyers, would give him a lot of potential.

Also if you follow Amazon heavily enough (it isn't very much effort), you can get some really good deals sometimes.
There's usually a solid period right when a figure comes out that I see a decent price on it before it sells out and goes way up.
Even some of the older stuff randomly goes on sale or shows up for a cheaper price, I was following a figure this week that suddenly went to 50% off and I grabbed it up and then another that went to 67% off a few months back.
They'll sometimes send you an email but I find the best way is to make a wish list (or multiple ones) and scroll through them regularly, it'll show you messages like "price lowered 20% since you added it to your list" as the prices change.
Also when looking up stuff like WWE Elite, change the sorting to newly added, you never know when a whole new listing of a figure will come out that you might have missed because it won't show up at the top of your searches with regular filters.
Happy hunting!

I'm kind of disappointed he is Godfather in all his appearances, I loved Papa Shango.
Obviously he is both but it discourages me from getting a photo.

Like a lot of toy collectors nowadays, my focus is mainly on vintage figures over modern.
I will pick up the new AJ Styles and the awesome Mattel Retro series but besides that I spend most of my collecting hours on the internet or at toy shows.
What places are there (near you guys) that sell wrestling toys besides the chain stores like TRU and Wal-Mart? What kind of selections do they have?
I've been to Kool Stuff, Big B and Bounty Hunter in Hamilton and I have to say I'm constantly impressed by the condition, prices and selection of stuff at Big B, those guys deserve a medal!
But I am all the way out in Markham so I don't go to them as often as I'd like.
Closer to me I never check Value Village (and when I do, there's nothing, absolutely nothing) and I take a bit of a trip over to Oshawa's Comic Alley Toys, that has a constantly changing, solid selection of stuff, but sadly rarely gets anything that isn't in very, VERY used condition and they don't seem to try to clean anything...their prices can't be beat though.
There is also Planet X, but I have yet to see any wrestling toys there though I might have to call them/their Toronto location and see if I missed anything.

I remember shop TNA had this amazing deal a few years back. It was 6 signed jakks figs for 80 bucks on Black Friday. I ended up getting Jeff hardy, angle, sing and hogan. Who were the other two? I would love to see pics!

The fact they kept releasing Abyss in that strange, bland tank top he never wore over and over again.
They loved releasing the same guy, over and over again, but most of the time they wouldn't try to do something that would actually attract you to buying the figure.
I was always happy shelling out for a new attire of the same wrestler but I'd want to see a little bit of effort to entice me towards another version of the character.
You look at Series 11 AJ Styles, the box has a photo of AJ with bangs next to the same short haircut we've already been seeing repeated...change the head sculpt or AT LEAST choose a photo that doesn't make the figure feel dated BEFORE YOU EVEN BUY HIM.

www.figurerealm.com/actionfigure?action=seriesitemlist&id=1574&universeid=922&figures=tnajakkspacificIt was an awkwardly timed line I thought lacking in both rings and accessories and I thought the idea of releasing so many scales/styles of figures simultaneously was idiotic. However, the main line, Deluxe Impact, had good size and movement. The main problem with the sets were Jakks had already become pretty lazy by the time they got the TNA license, while Toybiz was constantly making new parts, new accessories, Jakks would give you a very buff Brother Ray and the same weird, sparse Abyss tops he never wore.

I wasn't a huge fan of Jakks but I have to admit that after years of collecting you'd have an unbelievable catalogue of weapons and accessories compared to any other line.
That little space they'd leave underneath some of their rings for weapon storage would be constantly packed with everything including the kitchen sink.
I kinda miss that nowadays, it gave your figures a lot more to do.

From not long ago when Low-Ki, Sonjay and Suicide returned to fight for the X-Division Title to this week's Ultimate X match, Matt Sydal calling out the champ and of course, the newer crop of talent, I think the X-Division has some potential right now.
I would really like to see Homicide compete again too.
My only gripe is that it's still pretty heavily focused on Andrew Everett and Trevor Lee, two of my least favourite stars right now (I won't say they weren't good in Ultimate X, just not my personal preference)...I was disappointed not seeing Dezmond Xavier in this week's main event, that guy is unbelievable.
What does everyone else think?
I know a lot of their "Make Impact Great Again" talk has been mostly nonsense but the division (and match types) that really made TNA stick out in the first place seems like it can really make up for what the rest of the show might be missing right now.
I was disappointed to read that Low-Ki is determined to challenge Lashley and move up to the World Title picture, he'd have some great matches I'm sure, but I hope he changes his mind and sticks to the X-Division or at least divides his time well like so many stars (AJ, Joe, Aries) have done before him.

Matt and Jeff Hardy once their WWE nostalgia kick with the fans dies off. So I give it a year then. That I would love to see, though I hope in that time TNA could rally up some awesome competition for them upon their return.

Hey,
This seems like a pretty straightforward topic, but this is what I am interested in seeing in the next WWE 2K release, off the top of my head..
1. I'd like the simple change that you can have more match number choices in Universe Mode. If I want to rush through it doing one match for Raw and 1 for Smackdown! then 3 for PPVs I'd like to be able to without all the skipping and simulating.
I remember one match per show was how me and my friends would play GM Mode against eachother in the old games so we would be able to enjoy it quickly without getting bored waiting for our turn.
Also after 6 months, NXT's roster is so empty I can't run a show, but if it only had one match per week, I could. They could change it so your roster size for a show measures up with how many matches it has.
2. More cut scenes. Every year they say Universe Mode has more cut scenes and I still haven't seen all of them from the first iteration. For whatever reason, more times than not, rivalry matches happen without one, and when they do get a cut scene it's often the old "OMG HE DIDN'T SHAKE HIS HAND"
3. More exaggerated tired/weakened animations. I love the animations when somebody just lays down for a few seconds after a move then crawls over for the pin and I'd like to see more of these. (If anyone knows how to change your settings a bit so this happens more often, please let me know.)
4. More OMG Moments.
By far, my favourite part of the game, is still somewhat lacking in some areas. I found it strange that there are so many different new table moves and cool Authority desk moves but there's still no Powerbomb through a table unless you both climb up on it. Actual announce table finishers are limited to an Attitude Adjustment, a few Chokeslams, a few flying moves and they took out the Rock Bottom for some reason.
5. Reversals into reversals.
Way back when TNA made it's console and handheld debuts, they introduced a very smooth, very cool reversal system where a reversal could be reversed, and then that reversal could be reversed, and so on!
I think you can do this with a very limited number of moves in WWE2K17, but I'd like to see this become a large feature in the next game. It has become pretty common in recent years to see this happen on TV and it'd be fun to see in the game, especially if they're going to put 205 Live into the game. (Hopefully the purple ropes and such will be implemented as well as Sin Cara's special match lighting was when he was first introduced to the games.)
That's it for now!

TNA didn't leave Marvel Toys (ToyBiz) for Jakks. Marvel Toys went out of business in 2007. The Jakks TNA line didn't start until ~2010. TNA announced their deal with Jakks in February 2008. I don't know how early Toybiz/TNA/Jakks started shifting things around before that. It might have only been a set or two difference or it might have helped Marvel keep their doors open another set or two beyond that, but I haven't read anything definitive about who left who and when...and who started leaving who when. I always got the vibe from how everything went down that TNA left Toybiz though and Toybiz went from 2 lines to 1 to gone after Hasbro took the Marvel Comics toys. Outside of that, I've noticed lately as I've been getting back into collecting these that there are no good, deep blog-style (or even video-style) reviews of these guys. Im used to being able to really look intricately at a fiigure before I buy it (or before I open it) but for these sets that stuff is pretty limited. Too bad because there are a few I really wanted more info on like Sonjay Dutt, Matt Bentley and Jay Lethal. Maybe after I pick up a few more I'll do some.

I'm gonna add that if a lot of the 205 guys don't start doing more, we might see a lot of them showing up in TNA as it tries to reignite it's X-Division.

I've seen some of the OSFTM Mini-Bootlegs in the past but I thought I'd post these since I stumbled across them when I was looking for something today. I remember when I found these at the store I was so excited, I had missed out for the most part on the ECW figures and this was as close as I was gonna get. I even made Sabu and Bubba Ray out of clay to go with them (not pictured).

I remember being bothered in the old games, even in the new games, that the created guys often look a little worse off than the guys who are actually in the game and the only exceptions were if you used like a bear suit or knight outfit or something that would completely cover the person head to toe, so I used to make a lot of guys like that just so I'd have a created person that actually looked like they fit with the other wrestlers quality-wise.
I also (like so many) had all the fictional characters in the GameCube games because those games really let you go nuts.
This year I haven't played around too much, every once in a while I'll make a bikini brawl match at summer slam for the divas or I dressed all the divas in jobber gear so Alundra Blaze would have an actual opponent but after reading this I might have to add some silly outfits to some of the wrestlers.

Anyone else have trouble picking these up loose?
I ordered a few loose and though they weren't in terrible condition these figures do tend to scuff or lose paint pretty easy, I think I'll be sticking with carded and opening them myself from now on.
On that topic, does anyone find these to be one of the less desirable lines to keep unopened?
I am pretty split usually between keeping my toys opened or closed but for this line I found after I had a few packaged guys I was more than content with opening them all up and bashing them into my six sided rings...is it just me?
What is it about these guys that makes you want to open them so much more than other lines? Is it the extra POA or the different ring or the wild X-Division move sets?

I love the show and hope it comes back even if it's just a shorter series of YouTube episodes.
I thought the best figures were the ones that originally came out before the smaller, lighter, thinner plastic ReScan series and the somewhat disappointing two-packs with smaller, non-transforming figures.
I have a pretty complete collection but I'm thinking of replacing the Bumblebee I got second hand with an Energize one to match my other figures.
Also thinking of picking up Fire Station Prime, and a Heatwave/Mobile Command Centre because those two I also got second hand.
Anyone else or their kids/grandkids/nephews/nieces/younger siblings collect these?

I looked up their other figures (which I encourage others to do) and they're phenomenal.
My only issue now is that none of the characters are as tempting as I'd like.
Also they can't be played with and aren't very durable according to the site.
Curious to see the fancy box and certificate of authenticity they come with.

I have some TNA figs. Got Toybiz Rhyno and Christan 2-pack and Kurt Angle. Then some Jakks TNA as well. I've never owned a Jakks TNA figure, did they show up in stores in Canada? I loved that Kurt Angle, if I see one MOC, I'll probably pick up a second one.
