Obama is no doubt a liar and a fraud.....but he's also a GENIUS.
He managed to trick all the casual followers of politics by having a campaign platform that was so UNSPECIFIC that he actually was able to become EVERYTHING to EVERYONE.
He basically said "hey there common man whom I identify with......what are you unhappy with?"
And after you told him, his response was: "Well that's all going to CHANGE when I am President!"
And nobody bothered to then ask him to clarify HOW or into WHAT all of our fears and doubts were going to 'change' in to.
He manipulated the SIGNIFICANT portion of the African American population who had never even bothered to vote before by going up there and making reference to himself as a mutt and like he identified with people from the ghetto's and the projects.....despite the fact that he's one of the most EDUCATED men we've ever seen - white, black, or otherwise.
The bottom line is that this man went to Columbia University and then Harvard Law....he doesn't identify with the 'common man'. He knew exactly what he was doing and exactly how to manipulate all the people to get EXACTLY what he wanted.

The thing about message boards and politics is this... The 'other guy' will always be better. No matter how good or bad the current president is, the 'other guy' is just awesome..as he hasn't had the chance to make mistakes for the nation yet. Obama flat-out lied about numerous things that he supposedly so strongly supported (or did not support as the case may be) during his campaign. It's not a matter of the "other guy being better." It's a matter of both of the main candidates being essentially the same thing on a surprising number of topics... And both of them are full of sh*t, because all they do is follow what the rest of their party wants them to do. Gotta' keep that job, right? Stop voting for these people. Just stop it.

And also, I just wish everyone wouldn't dismiss Mitch Daniels for the Republican in 2012. Look at all the good he's done in Indiana.. but also, keep in mind that you can't keep everyone happy, but he's still keeping a stable budget and not spending an assload of money

You mean giving a private security company control of a prison and then the state troopers had to go in and save their asses in a riot. Yeah, good job. Mitch Daniels is one of the worst governors in the history of the state.

Trying to put Indiana back on the map? Like I said, you can't make everyone happy, but at least he has a track record of trying. Not that much can be said for Obama and PS- im still mad at you for selling call of duty

Mitch Daniels is one of the worst governors in the history of the state. Out sourcing prisons? What the hell is next, outsourcing parking meters? ! Hey, every politician lies. Thing is, once you get to that seat, things look alot different. I don't think any president has ever avoided the flip flop, as once you get in the oval office, there is a lot more information available. As for same sex marriage, do I believe it to be right? Yes. Do I think people are ready for it yet? No. And so, is it a shocker this would be one of the issues he flips on? No. But, so far he is still trying to get something together on many of his promises, so there is hope for him yet. Remember, it is always darkest before the light people. The economy is already recovering, the war in Iraq is almost over, the riots we started in Iran are keeping them too busy to build a bomb. It is almost as if morning is coming.

I'll admit, he hasn't done alot of the things he promised to do, but I'll just say what I said when he promised that stuff.
That **** is harder then it looks. Just because your president, doesn't mean you can do anything. Someone makes money off everything, and taking that away from who ever benifets on people getting aids, is a good way to get your brains splatter on the trunk of a car.

I still wish Hillary would have won.
We already knew she was hawkish on foreign policy, we know she has a track record on gay rights and on HIV/AIDS, and we all know about health care with her, so she wouldn't cave on a public option.
Plus Sarah Palin would probably still be governor of Alaska next month.

No offense, Slappy but it seems to me that gay rights is thing only thing that seems to drive you politically. It makes sense for you and all but right now it's so low on the ing bar that it really isn't much of a concern. That's just the reality of it. I'm not saying it isn't important or you shouldn't fight for what you believe in but it's just not a national or global priority. Now as far as Obama goes, I can't say there has ever been a president who's legacy has ever been defined by six months (Harrison aside). I think things have been bleak for so long that paitence has been abandoned and people want immediate results regardless if it's feasible or not. Truth be told the guy was dealt a very sh*tty hand and likely wont last beyond his first term as a result. Obama like all presidents are just public figures and as a public figure the only things I ask of him is to work dliigently, be candid and show strong leadership skills and most importantly ...don't up. It's that simple for me and that's really all you can ask for considering all the adversity they face as political figures and so far I think he's done a decent job at that.

Because all I mentioned was gay rights. HIV/AIDS is not just a gay rights issue, it's a human rights issue, as is a public option for health care, as is holding innocent people in prison.

I didn't say you weren't well rounded poltically, Slappy.
Judging by everything I've read on this forum since becoming a memeber here, gay rights are without a doubt your biggest motivation, it's the one you're the most passionate about. You outlined Aids first and then gay rights followed by other issues.
Like I said, there's nothing wrong with that and they are important (I have an Uncle with HIV)and I encourage you to keep fighting but I just think there are much MUCH bigger things to be cocerned about right now.
1. Economy 2. The Wars 3. Health Care - Obama has no leverage here nor will he ever, he's gonna have to take what he can get.
Everything else in comparison is pretty much insignificant right now.

There are things he can do with just the stroke of a pen and yet he won't do it.
Congress reversed Obama on needle exchange, they are taking the ban out of the bill. Finally doing something right in Congress. I have an aunt with AIDS so it is personal as well.
I'd lower the war on the priority list, because there is nothing Obama can do now. We've started leaving Iraq, nothing more he can really do. Same with the economy.
Patrick Murphy is bringing up a bill to strike down DADT, which I applaud him on. Now we just need Obama to endorse the bill and I'll start to ease up on him.

But there are also a lot of homophobic dirtbags. I think we need to be in a war to get rid of DADT, otherwise, prepare for all kinds of horrendous discriminatory acts against the gays in the military.

They are just going to have to deal with it, like when we integrated the military. Gays are already serving, just they can't be open or they are kicked out. Do they have to announce that they are gay? No, but they shouldn't have to hide it.
