Been watching buttload of 2001 over the last few days, first off, what a year, so many great mid-card matches and the Main Events were just as awesome. Every match happened for a reason, whethere it was a show-opener or it was a closer.
Now though, after watching KOTR especially I have to wonder, what were the original plans for the whole Invasion angle? Both Jericho and Beniot were getting majorly pushed at this point, Beniot especially, infact if he hadn't gotten injured I think he might have even went on to the be the face of the Alliance, he was that over and was getting pushed that hard. Also, not to go on about him, but man did Beniot have some amazing matches during this year, his fued with Angle was hot as hell, such a great talent.
Also, where the hell was Triple H supposed to fit into the whole thing? It seems as though as Trips was injured, it was actually the start of the end of the PowerTrip anyway, but where would he have been in the Invasion stuff? Also it seemed as though alot of Alliance talent was initally getting pushed, Rhyno for one, he was having great hardcore matches at the PPVs before the Invasion stuff began, and he even was on the Alliance team in the Brawl, but after his match against Jericho he literally fell off the face of the company till Feb 2003. (I am aware he had a broken neck sometime during this time)
But yea, I've read different things, one that sticks out is that Trips and Beniot were to be the leaders of the Alliance against Austin and Rock who were to be the leaders of WWF.

Trips was origionally going to feud w/ Austin, but thank god that didn't happen because they already had a long feud from the year before. Angle and Austin was a fresh feud and they had some great matches.
Not sure about Benoit but before the Invasion the WWF was pushing a storyline of Benoit and Jericho possibly joining WCW. Would have made more sense than Austin and Angle joining.

Don't forget the storyline that Vince was suspicious of Benoit and Jericho winning the WWF title at KOTR and defecting to WCW.
Additionally, WCW was intended to be the face faction.

Ill tell ya now there is NO WAY HHH would have been in the WCW camp.
it boggles the mind IMO that Jericho wasnt the one to betray Team WWF.he would have became the 1# heel overnight and a fresh feud against a revitalised Austin & returning Rock was on the cards.

DDP needed to fued with The Rock as originally planned, the stalker thing should have gone to Jericho. Additionally DDP should have been the face of the alliance.

the stalker angle should never have existed.it makes even less sense for Jericho to be the stalker than DDP.

I think there were also plans of making two brands, WWF and WCW, which I feel would have been better for the brand situation we have today, It just fits well instead of a Raw and Smackdown in my opinion. I would have loved to see perhaps Smackdown forming into Nitro, though that could have possibly ruined Smackdowns viewership.

I thought the stalker angle was great, MAKE ME FAMOUS! DDP was already famous after having been in huge feuds that involved Jay Leno, Karl Malone, and Dennis Rodman. He was also a 3x WCW Champ. And the stalked angle made zero sense what so ever considering we all knew that DDP was married to Kimberly Page(so why the hell would he go after Taker's horse faced wife...).

The stalker angle made less sence because DDP was one of the most famous guys in the company at the time, it going to a rising star like Jericho would have made a boat load more sense.
The pop DDP got when he unmasked himself, to this day still gives me chills.

Yeah, I heard this also - something to do with drugs which go him taken off tv or something which made him not have the storyline.

I would have had the Survivor Series Winner Take All Match
The Rock, Kane, The Undertaker, Triple H and Chris Jericho vs Rob Van Dam, Stone Cold, The Dudley Boyz and Booker T.
And before that match, Shane vs Vince

And before that match, Shane vs Vince Replace Stone Cold with Jericho and vice versa you could have had a barn burner, seeing as how HHH was injured I would have Stone Cold on the team and a properly built up DDP in team WCW with Y2J playing the same role

This is how I would of booked the WCW Alliance fued.
The WCW Alliance: Shane McMahon (WCW Owner) Booker T (WCW Champion) (Feud with Angle) Dustin Rhodes (I would of brought him over) ( The Mole) Chris Kanyon (US Champion) (Feud With IC Champion) Ric Flair ( Alliance Manger ) Shane Helms (No Hurricane Gimmick) (Feud with X-Pac) DDP (No Stalker Angle) (Feud with The Rock) Chris Jericho (defector) Hughe Morris (Stable Jobber) Stacy & Torrie (Wouldn't of changed their feuds)
WWF Team: Steve Austin (SCSA Gimmick) The Undertaker (BA Gimmick) The Rock (WWF Champion) Kurt Angle (Face) Kane (Face)
ECW would of never got involved, it would of been a entire separate angle after WCW's ended.
* Dustin Rhodes would of came back as Goldust for the WWF Team. But over time he would of revealed himself as the Alliances mole and became Dustin Rhodes (dropping the Goldust gimmick)
*Stalker Angle, I would of waited for Scott Steiner to heal and placed him in that role. This angle could of taken place during the ECW feud with the WWF after WCW's had ended.
*Ric Flair buying part of the WWF, I would of had Vince line up the alliance and fire each one of them (After a five on five match at Survivor Series where WCW lost) until he got to Ric Flair, which Flair would of revealed he was part owner of the WWF then.

HBK definitely would have been a part of the Invasion storyline, if it weren't for him passing out backstage in Vince's office around the time WCW was purchased from being messed up on pills (Soma). It's been mentioned by Triple H in a WWE interview I've seen on one of the Michaels DVD's, although he doesn't specifically mention Michaels being a part of the Invasion, if I remember correctly. I seem to also recall that the event he passed out backstage at leading to him not being used was WrestleMania X7...though I could be wrong there.

Yea I've heard HBK was to be part of WMX7, but didn't this all happen the week before Mania? They couldn't have added someone as huge as HBK in a big role in that small time, it would have just seemed like shoe-horning someone in for the sake of it.
