So glad to see how much progress humanity has made. Seriously, it's two thousand bloody twelve and people still cling on to primitive and outdated beliefs. If two people of the same sex want to join in union, it should be of no concern to anyone but the two that want it so.

I don't care if its 1985 or 2012, if people think gay marriage should not have a chance, im fine with that.

Not shocked. Saddened but not shocked. Look at progressive states like California, and how much they struggle with this issue. It's no shock that people in the South voted against it. If you held the same vote in every state, I guarantee the majority would vote to ban it as well. A lot of people don't like it yet, and it will take time for people's viewpoints to change, and for a lot of old people to die off.

North Carolina: Where you can marry your cousin.............. Just not your gay cousin. Okay, this crap needs to stop, its completely obstructive of the goals of legalizing gay marriage, which is equality and the right to do as you please. If you want to marry another man or your cousin, you should be more than able to do so, no one can tell you who to love. I'm tired of people who condemn rulings against gay marriage by saying "well you can marry your cousin, and that's gross". Isn't the argument for gay marriage that you should be able to marry who you want? Why does that not count cousins? Don't get me wrong, I don't like it (just as I'm not a proponent of gay marriage), but dammit, this is America, you should be able to do as you please as long as it doesn't affect the rights of others, and this doesn't.

Relax. It was a joke. However I think it should be noted that reproducing with a cousin could cause serious problems with the offspring. Granted, being married doesn't necessarily mean that a couple would reproduce, but I think that should be understood anyway. I think the point is that there seems to be LESS hesitation to allow relatives to marry than there is to allow same-sex couples to marry. I'm personally okay with either of them as I don't believe that the state should have any right whatsoever to get involved with religious ceremonies.

Oh, and by the way, I always find it funny that the proponents of the, "It doesn't affect you, so why do you care?" ideology come out to defend gay marriage. But when I suggest that all drugs should be completely legal, those same people lose their in' minds.

Knock this state, Knock religion all you want, Knock the south all you want, im glad this didnt fly. Not that I hate gays, I just feel it is wrong. What you do in the privacy of your home is fine. Just dont come out and try to force others to accept what you do. Live and let live.

North Carolina: Where you can marry your cousin.............. Just not your gay cousin. That's West Virginia. Hey! I live in West virginia and... yeah, deep WV may do that LOL. Though, as a gay male myself, I find it sickening that people still feel the need to block RIGHTS people deserve. I am so damn tired of the entire argument of "gays will ruin marriage and what it means!" yet when someone gets divorced, your going against god and what he wants. apparently. Remember the ol' line "in sickeness and in health, to death do us part." Yeah, that means nothing in todays world. Gay marriage will never hurt what marriage is about, celebrities, heterosexuals, and people who marry 3+ times are the ones who ultimately make marriage a joke. The whole getting married and then getting it annulment within days is what hurts it. Marriage USE to be an amazing thing, tons of elderly people were/are married for 50+ years.. My grandparents celebrated 50yrs being married last year before my grandfather passed away. So marriage WAS something.. now? No... its only a slip of people that means nothing. Church has no say in whats right, they can have their bible and all...but until God... Jesus comes down and tells me personally, then no. The government has no right to tell people what they classify as to what LOVE is, and PEOPLE should have no right to say what love us, as the ones who block gay marriage, are bigots, close minded idiots... For the record, I am religious to a sense, I believe in God, believe he created everyone, everything for a purpose, and deep down, I believe he created gay people. There are way to many gay people for it to be an illness or stuff of that nature. He created everyone for a purpose. I will end with this... Like gays or not, support gay marriage or not... Fine. I have been with my significant other now for two years, we are extremely happy together and I couldn't imagine my life without him. My family loves him to death and supports us 100%. I plan one day to marry him, either it be in Washington DC where you can have a cival union, or if we marry in his home state of California.. point being, our life, our way... I won't allow some random person tell me I'm not allowed to love, or marry because they don't like it. I want, and will have every right that a straight marriage has. Learn to accept.

Just dont come out and try to force others to accept what you do. Live and let live. Eh thats your opinion... I don't force anything on anyone, and personally, my sexual orientation doesn't involve my friends, family, nor the randoms walking down the street. My partner and I keep our relationship to ourselves and barley speak out on it as its our private life. Though if you want to play hardball, hetorsexual couples shouldn't be making out all over the damn place aswell, and making it known. I don't do it, I don't expect them to either. What gives them the right to do it as I walk down the street or the mall? oh thats right! a slip of paper that means NOTHING to me! But food for thought time... if ANYONE of you had kids, what if he or she came to you and said "im gay"... would you want the best for them? Want them to marry and have a furfilling life? or would you be completely rude and tell your kid to change, and that to take a back seat to life?

Havnt Royal families been inter marrying with kin for centuries? Yes, but that doesn't exactly mean much. Countless studies have shown that inbreeding massively increased the likelihood of major disabilities and/or death.

People seriously take marriage too damn seriously. Everyone should have the right to get married. If you are born homosexual, then should you be punished by not being allowed to marry the one you love? The World is a ed place.....

But when I suggest that all drugs should be completely legal, those same people lose their in' minds. Who does second-hand smoke affect again? What about drunk drivers? Or anyone under the influence of anything for that matter? Drugs do affect more than just the people doing them. That's completely different than equality across sexual orientations.
